Pasar is now one of my favorites. Food was amazing! Cocktails were unique and very tasty! Keegan the wonder waiter was helpful and precise with perfect recommendations for us. Parking easy and Alberta Street is so fun to stroll and explore.

Absolutely wonderful, authentic Indonesian cooking - just like their sister restaurant Wajan but with a different menu. The food is really delicious!! My family is Indonesian and for anyone looking for an authentic experience, look no further! We tried nearly everything on the menu and it was all so amazing, but the Nasi Goreng and Lontong Sayur really stood out for me. The decor and ambience is also very nice and feels like you are in Indonesia. As a bonus, there are also some of my favorite little Indonesian treats in the front that make me nostalgic from my childhood. I’ll be coming back soon to try their unique lunch menu!

Pasar is a gem! The food is legit, just as good as Wajan but with even more variety on the menu. We had the Lontong Cap Go Meh and Babi Goreng, and they were spot-on delicious. For dessert, we tried a few of the different little cakes, all really good but especially the pandan sponge cake. The decor is beautiful. It’s obvious they put a ton of work into designing the space — it feels really cozy and inviting. Excellent service as well; everyone was super welcoming, and the food came out QUICK.If you're looking for good Indonesian food in Portland, Pasar is where it's at. There’s really nothing else like this in the city (except Wajan) — try it, you won’t be disappointed ?

As a homesick Southeast Asian, I was excited to try this place out and get some comfort from familiar flavors. The space was beautiful and the staff were friendly. The menu’s offerings were hopeful enough—the mere mention of popiah made my wife and I squeal a little. She ordered an iced teh, I got a hot milo, and we shared a popiah, the sate, and the babi goreng. The milo, while tasting great, was tiny. Child-sized. It was so egregiously lil I finished it in maybe four gulps. The teh was served in the same tiny mug, hot instead of iced, like my wife ordered. The server maintained that they did not serve their teh iced, even though the option was listed on the menu. The tea tasted ok, though barely steeped long enough and with way too much condensed/carnation milk. The popiah was the first to come out. Why would you offer the promise of popiah—a relatively thick roll of steamed vegetables, crushed peanuts, crispy bits, and sweet dark sauce folded in a soft crepe-like wrap—if you’re just going to serve a single, sad, deep-fried pipsqueak of a spring roll? It tasted like something you’d find at Costco. This failed promise of popiah was truly disappointing. The sate came next. To be fair, I’ve never had a proper sate/satay this side of the Pacific. They’s always too thick and steak-y—never fatty or juicy enough. Pasar’s sate suffers from the same problem and, while tender and flavorful, the three skewers were served under a thick slather of some rendang-ish sauce. Why it wasn’t accompanied by what might’ve been its saving grace, a sweet and chunky peanut sauce, is beyond me.The fried pork belly was served last. Again, a meager serving, but it was probably the best tasting of all the dishes we ordered. Except it was served on a single leaf of lettuce, and wasn’t accompanied by some jasmine rice like I’d blindly assumed. Possibly sacrilege. The best part of the meal and the only thing that lived up to expectations were the Kopiko coffee sweets we got with the bill—the same ones I used to get at my school’s minimart.I really wanted to like this place! Now I’m not sure when I’ll be able to trust again.

I had high expectations hoping to have Indonesian food of the Cali Bay Area caliber. I do like the ambience. Wait staff are friendly but I couldn’t get a drink even after asking for it twice. Food is a let down. The dishes are inexpensive (below$20) but it’s for a reason.. the dish I had was soupy with a few pieces of fried tofu, a few strings of bamboo shoots, and peppers, a bunch of potato chips.. hardly anything to eat for $18… I thought I had ordered a rice cake dish but there were only small chunks of rice I think. Not the kind of Indonesian food I had in mind.

We're fans of Wajan (the sister restaurant) and the owner. The attention to detail, from the beautiful interior to drinking cups has carried over. We sampled most of the small dish menu and the Lemper Ayum was our favorite. The Bala Bala popped with flavor, but was very greasy. The Martabak and Risol Sayur about average. The Sate Padang was very tender, much more so than any I've had, and the thick peanut sauce was delicious so be sure to order a side of rice. The Lontong was the only entree we ordered. It's unlike what I've had in the past. Eclectic taste, but maybe too salty especially as it's topped with potato chips. The creative Coco-Pandancello cocktail goes great with the meal rather than before it because of the sweetness and coconut. For dessert, the Putu Ayu and Klepon Ubi hit the spot on light taste, size, and price point. Our server, Keegan, was a star, very pleasant. Great experience overall. This end of NE Alberta has some big hitter venues.

Stopped in while visiting Portland and was so impressed. Firstly the ambiance is wonderful and evocative and the service is great! We were warmly greeted as soon as we arrived and once we were seated, waitstaff checked in frequently to make sure everything was going well. I don't have the names of the dishes handy, but I got a salad with tofu and peanut sauce and split some fried rice and a fritter with the table. I loved that there are vegetarian and vegan options. Everything was so good! We also got a couple of the desserts to split--very tasty and a nice little bite. If I lived in Portland I would be here all of the time! But it will definitely be at the top of my list for when I come back for my next visit!
