Warm and inviting. Casual and fun. There are many more adjectives I can use here, but here it is... if you like burmese/Thai/India flavors and smells. Wajan is that Indonesian mix of it all. Amazing food. Great and friendly staff. We had half the menu, and it didn't break the bank. I highly recommend Wajan and will be returning for the other half of the menu. Oh, and all the upcoming specials I saw that I wanna hit up as well. Hell yes. I definitely need more of this food in my life.

Unfortunately didn’t leave raving about any one thing. Ordered several meat dishes (braised beef, fried chicken, stir fry pork) but meat was a bit dry and lacking flavor.Interior was cozy and clean with plenty of outdoor seating for the summer.

The oxtail soup was very warming and hearty. It's very similar to the oxtail soup that can be found in Hawaii. The Indonesian coffee is great too although there are no free refills. There are a ton of great vegan/vegetarian options here.

Wajan is one of my favorite Indonesian restaurants, and Portland's best in my opinion. The salad with sprouts, tofu and pineapple, the fried chicken, and Beef Tendang are incredibly delicious. There are five excellent sambals to add to entrees. Interesting coctails and great service. So good!

Delicious and reasonably priced. Our two year old loved the sides!

We had really good food at Wajan on New Years Eve. We had pork belly and nasi rendang with curried beef as well as fried banana and corn fritter gorenganGood food that came out quickly. Our very young, disheveled, unkempt, inexperienced server was not a bonus to our meal.

Really need work on service. Our server acted like he was auditioning for the DMV, and the prices were extremely high for what is essentially food-cart quality service and food (plastic plates and tin cups). I don't want to pay first-world prices for essentially a 3rd world experience. Lovely decor and flavor. The rest needs work.

Incredible food. Can't rate the dry curry beef highly enough. It's the ultimate comfort food!

Had such an awesome birthday dinner here with some friends. I love the decor and intimate atmosphere. All the dishes were absolutely amazing and so different from anything I typically eat. It was very fun and the server was very accommodating and friendly. I'm excited to go back. Thank you !

The food was unique, as I've never really had the dishes they offer before. I'm always up for trying new things and landed with the ayam goreng and nasi campur. The fried chicken had a decent flavor but a bit dry. I approach new food with an open mind but I have to admit that I didn't enjoy much from the nasi campur. The flavors were not particularly to my liking, which is not to say others wouldn't enjoy it.

Growing up in Southeast Asia, I often crave the food. Decided to check out Wajan on a whim after a long wait at a restaurant nearby and was pleasantly surprised at the ambience and the food. We got the Martabak Telor Mini (not pictured) and the Nasi Campur with pork belly added on. The Martabak Telor Mini was egg ground chili, shallots, and green onion wrapped in a thin fried pancake. It was a bit oily, but still really good! The Nasi Campur was the star of the show - it came with egg, fried eggplant, curried jackfruit, tapioca cracker, sambal and we chose to add Babi Ketang (marinated pork belly and potatoes) on the side. The pork belly and potatoes were great and super flavorful. The eggplant and sambal were a great balance of sweet and spicy. It was a hearty portion, and we were able to share it between two and be fully satisfied. The ambiance was lovely and cozy, and the Kopiko (coffee) candy at the end of the meal was a nice touch!

It was cromulent. Pork belly sauce was a bit much and the hard bits in my starch cracker made it unpleasant, but the rest of the dish was fine. Drinks were sweet. Outdoor seating was a plus.
