It's been long overdue for me to write a review here. Best Salmon belly in town I always crave it!!! I'm craving it as I type this. It's crispy, loaded, packed with umami and even comes with some veggies and rice for the perfect bite. The laos dipping sauce is also essential for it. Some other honorable mentions are: Laotion beef jerky, waterfall steak, nam khao and the salt and pepper shrimp and squid. OOH and you can't forget the beignets with all the dipping sauces for a savory dessert or of course, the classic mango sticky rice that you can have customized with different flavored sticky rice. Wash it down with one of their refreshing beverages, thai iced tea, iced ube, and green tea thai tea and so much more.

Flew in from Cali and I drove all across town to pick up some mango dipping sauce for my SIL only to find out the item had to be pre-ordered at least 24-48 hours in advance. Low and behold they didn't even have papaya salad on tbeir menu. Prices were pretty steep. We ordered the coconut mangoe sticky rice and green Thai tea, nothing special about it. This place is VERY fusion! If you are looking for authentic Laos food. I do not recommend driving out this way....

White Elephant is part of a really nice food cart pod on Mississippi. The location itself is really nice and definitely always pretty busy with a good energy. There's so many options to pick from here, but I always keep coming back to White Elephant.I'm not at all well verse in Laotian food, but this really surprised me! I had the Laotian beef jerky which was very tender, moist, and packed full of flavor. When I hear "beef jerky", my mind conjures images of dry, tough strips of meat sitting in a gas station store for who knows how long. While these are still strips of beef, they're anything but that. Major downside about this place is the hours. I can't count how many times I've swung by here to grab something and they're closed. I think they're closed Monday through Wednesday and the latest they stay open is 7pm... which to me is usually when I prefer to eat dinner.Other than that, highly recommend!

Got the pho rench dip with steak. This dish is totally worth it. The sandwich is overflowing with fresh and delicious veg and meat. The sandwich by itself is fantastic great use of green onion , cilantro, sprouts sauce . The steak was perfectly cooked and went great with the sandwich. Th pho soup on the side just added another lawyer to the sandwich where you can dip some of the bread and veg and get pho broth taste. Pho broth was on the lighter side for taste but I think that was good as the sandwich was the star .

We came here solely for the beignets after seeing the group of people next to us eating it - it looked SO good so we couldn't miss out obviously lol. The beignets were a hit! They came with either a pandan or ube glaze, to which we chose the pandan. Admittedly, the pandan tasted like just sweetened condensed milk with a minimal hint of pandan, but this didn't take away from our experience at all since the beignets were just too darn good. The powdered sugar was generous and the beignets were light and fluffy with a crunch on the outside when you bit it. Dipped with the pandan glaze, it became super addicting to eat. Our group of 4 ate the entire thing in a matter of minutes lol.The pho french dip seemed like an interesting concept, but we didn't have a chance to try it since we had already eaten at the neighboring food carts. The ambiance of the general area was super cute - lots of picnic tables to eat and a wide range of options to dine at.

This place is my absolute go-to anytime I’m near Mississippi Ave! I used to work nearby and as a treat would go to White Elephant for lunch on the weekends. The food is always amazing, consistent, and utterly delicious. The wonderful people who work there are always so kind as well! Highly recommend. It’s my favorite food truck within the food cart pod, which is saying A LOT since that includes Fried Egg Im in Love and Matt’s BBQ. Everyone should go!

I've been wanting to try for sooooo long. We ordered pho dip sandwich, waterfall beef, chicken wings, and sticky rice. Drinks as well, which I liked, my daughter did not. The sandwich was impossible to eat because the bread was dry and crumbled all apart as soon as I picked it up, everything was falling out. It was old bread. There was no way to keep it together and dip it. It needed fresh bread you can grab and hold the ingredients in, so much lettuce and been sprouts all fell out. Very tasty though. Sticky rice was a bit hard, but the beef was tasty.
