“My boyfriend and I spent Saturday night out at Gather. We did have reservations, but opted to dine outside on the patio. The food was excellent (I had the fish and chips, he had the Asian stir fry with shrimp. The only item I found less than stellar was the coleslaw. Small serving, and nothing special.) One thing I thought was odd was the outside service. If you choose to dine outside, you order and pay inside in advance. The server will bring your food, then you go back inside for silverware and condiments. It all seemed rather awkward and unnecessary. But we will be back. The food was good, the prices not too out of range, and it was an enjoyable evening.“

“Our first visit to Decant. It was lovely. Extremely friendly and accommodating staff, including the owner; charming premises; mouth-watering menu selections; and, most importantly, yummy food. We both enjoyed the delicious, light asparagus /vichyssoise. I had the mushroom risotto appetizer, and we shared the truffle fries. Very tasty! We both also ordered the lamb entree, which was perfectly cooked and seasoned, and paired beautifully with carrots, broccolini, and a tasty polenta. Finished the meal with the hot apple tart and the creme brulee, plus coffee. Everything was superb. My only suggestions for the future: We both found several items (risotto, fries, and polenta) a bit too salty - though still excellent. And the apple tart was mostly crust and ice cream (almost no apples). Loved the taste, but wished there were more apples. Those minor quibbles aside, we loved Decant and hope to return. Thanks to Austin, Michael, Wyatt, and Jessica (and the entire staff) for being so helpful and friendly.“

“For years, the fried chicken has been a standout item on the menu. Not this Sunday. It was really a breast that was coated and fried. The potatoes were too runny and the whole thing delivered lukewarm. Brussels sprouts were good. Service was pleasant although we had to ask twice for bread.“

MÄS

MÄS New American
141 Will Dodge Way, Ashland - 5.12 miles

“Simply sublime… Chef Josh and his capable team delivered a symphony of succulent Japanese-inspired dishes elevated and enhanced — indeed, was it possible ?—by Sommelier Joseph’s elegant and thoughtful wine and saké selections. From the cocktails at NAMA, to the perfectly petite cutlery and artisanal serve ware, and finally (sadly, does it have to end?) to the last taste of dessert in the private Library Room, the welcoming personal touch of the master was apparent in presentation, description, and each well-planned bite, all curated to delight in crescendo’d layers of complexity that showcased the talent and passion of this James Beard Foundation SemiFinalist doing what he loves: carefully crafting dishes to create an absolutely unforgettable meal that lingers on the tongue and in the heart.“

Lots of health conscious options, fair pricing, a good place to enjoy with friends. We are so lucky to have this restaurant in Ashland! My YUM rating is definitely 5 *****+!“

“Very creative menu, chose the restaurant because everything looked good and the wine list had great depth and a more than a few values. Service was top notch on a very busy night. Set in an old Victorian home, the dining room is very comfortable. We ordered 3 starter and 2 main course, paired each with something from the WBTG list and never felt rushed, each course was served at a very comfortable pace.“

“The lady working the stand was super nice and helpful. She recommend the bacon Jam burger and it was kinda amazing. The bun was a perfectly toasted brioche with nice crunchy iceberg lettuce and a tasty aioli, and the bacon jam was so good. I think they use Portland ketchup which is my favorite, and the fries were perfectly fried and salted really well. It's a cute little spot that is perfect on a sunny day. It'll cost you around 13$ for a burger and fries but I'd say it's well worth its price.“

“Ambiance at brick room is great! After finding the door hidden behind a false storefront we walked upstairs to find a cool eclectic decor and cozy vibe. Service was attentive not annoying. Tito's Martini and old fashioned with Woodford were delicious. The flat iron steak was perfectly cooked and delicious. The spring gnocchi was lemon forward and sublime. My only note would be that I didn't taste the pistachio and it didn't resemble a pesto. We loved it and would def go back!“

“What a terrific experience! We arrived late into town and caught an Uber to the restaurant about an hour before closing. We were greeted with smiles, a fun attitude, and patience while we deliberated about drinks and food. Totally set the mood for the meal. The food was FANTASTIC! We ordered: the albacore salad, grilled asparagus and cucumber (who knew?!), yogurt with pickles, fries with housemade aioli, and, our absolute favorite, a savory cheesecake. So good I had to congratulate the chef, who says it was a fortuitous accident in the kitchen which they tweaked and kept in the menu. A MUST. Bathroom and restaurant are clean, comfortable, with nice lighting. We talked about this restaurant for days- pricing completely commensurate with the quality and quantity. Bookmark this restaurant!“
