“Simply amazing! We are visiting from St Louis and we are so grateful we happened upon this local brewery! Super friendly service!!! The pulled pork nachos were UH-mazing!!!! Loved listening to open mic night as well! I could go on and on….!! ♥️♥️“
“I have heard about this place for a long time. I dont live in Altoona and dont go there much but I was in the area and decided to finallt try it. Ive been missing out. Usually I head into State College when looking for a place to have dinner or lunch but for Mex and Tex Mex Ill be heading into Altoona for now on.“
“This comfortable and good standard of living I now enjoy with my family, is all thanks to you Mr Donald Richard, before now I had a low income and did a lot of online trade which no profit, but you came like an angle and change all of that in just one week, you turned my $600 to $8,450 with your intelligence as an expert and from that day I had made more profit each week investing more, there is no amount of thanks that will be enough for what you have done for me and my family, but I promise Sir I will speak of your honesty, handwork and trust to the world, this is dream come true for me for finding a legit account manager like you, I advice the entire public to invest with Mr Donald Richard and be financially sable.“
“Had a girl's weekend with 7 of us. Had an amazing time! "The Boss" Claudio, was welcoming and had impeccable service! Food was delicious and fast! DJ was great with a pretty good mix of music. Definitely would come back anytime we are in the area!!“
“This is my go to spot for a chicken sandwich. They are the best! I always stop here first on my nights out bc the bartenders here know how to make a long Island iced tea unlike somewhere else. I only took 1 star only bc there's no dj. It is kinda a biker bar but I am not a biker and have never been made to feel unwelcome here.“
“Local "Dive Bar". Decent food. Most bartenders are great. The atmosphere depends on the day. Located near PSU Altoona campus so the students do frequent some nights. Most of the time, it's relatively chill, but there are some nights where there are nights and people getting rowdy. Usually on Karaoke nights from what I've picked up. They have trivia and bingo during the week, which I'd do again. Overall, not a terrible experience, but certainly room for improvement.“
“Had a great time, they always have a good choice in music or bands that play. Their drinks are relatively cheap, and the price of your tab depends on how many drinks your having. The bartenders are friendly and make you feel welcome. And even on super busy nights you don't have to wait forever to order a drink, or even close out your tab. You also can meet all different types of people, ranging in all sorts of ages. They even have an indoor and outdoor bar, and even the outdoor bar has heat during this cold season“
“I had the chicken bacon ranch quesadillas and my girlfriend the cajun pasta 3 for me with chips+salsa and a strawberry lemonade. The food was good, the second batch of chips were a little under cooked, but otherwise delightful. The ranch is AMAZING.“
“A long time ago, when I was working at Texas Roadhouse, a colleague of mine took it upon himself to order a bunch of wings from black and gold for our Christmas meeting/ party thing. Chipping in for the wings wasn't mandatory, but a room full of servers with cash on hand and food that came from the outside, I'm sure the burden wasn't that of a financial loss. However, they were the best wings that I have had in a very long time. Maybe ever. A few years had gone by since the first time I enjoyed black and gold and it was recently my boyfriends birthday and be couldn't stop talking about black and gold and their spicy garlic. I ordered myself hot and him spicy garlic. The order was placed over the phone, they said a specific amount of minutes until they could be picked up, but I showed up early and they were just coming out of the fryer. They stayed temperature and flavor hot for the duration of my drive and it was a W for me and his the birthday surprise so thanks black and gold for your efforts, but letting me take all the credit.“
“Overall, a great Altoona bar for mixed drinks, shots and bar food - clean bar top and attentive bartenders. If you don’t smoke this is not the bar for you. There’s a bar, the next door over that’s owned by the same owners that’s a great non-smoking option (Zach’s). Regardless of which, if a PA team is playing they’re showing it on several television angles within the bar. There’s an ATM, cash only cigarette machine, and several lottery machines at your disposal.“
“Pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere feels a little stiff until you settle in. Friendly service. Limited drink choices, but we enjoyed a bottled beer. The food was tasty, fresh and appetizing. The steak salad had all the essentials and the shaved steak was even good. The small platters are like 2 meals, All delicious options. Crave worthy onion rings. Very quiet in the afternoon. And I plan to visit again. Thank you.“
“Went in on a Friday night hoping to order food. We were told it was too hot in there to cook. So we had two very strong, but cheap drinks and left to find somewhere to eat. The crowd inside the bar was nice and the music was good. Definitely could be due for an update in looks, but those are the down home dirty bars we all love to let loose in. l lParking: Very little parking on the street. There's a parking lot in the back.“
“This place is s local hometown favorite for a reason! The food is incredible, cooked to perfection, and still affordable. Dishes come out quicker than expected. Drinks are probably some of the lowest priced in the area! I personall6 recommend the roast beef sandwich, it is the best in the area and I am a roast beef snob. ?The owner makes you feel welcome and remembers you when you return! A genuinely friendly guy and well loved in the community. The atmosphere is cozy and dim , multiple tvs playing sports programming for those who are there for the sports bar appeal, trivial pursuit decks on the table for those who prefer mental athletics. ?Only down side is it is cash payment only, there is an atm near the bathrooms however. I'd recommend stopping by a free sheetz atm prior to your visit. If it's your first visit, you're in for a treat!Parking: Surprisingly plenty of parking for being residential street parking. Even at the busiest times, it seems the farthest you would have to walk is a block.“
