“This place is a favorite. Great rotating beer selections on draft. Pizza is always amazing. Bartenders know us and our usual order as we are creatures of habit but you can't fake just knowing. If you know, you know. Overall, one of the best places in the valley to just chill. No TVs but internet so great place to just veg on your phone, iPad, or computer with some ear buds. “I'm a regular here, and it's the only bar in the area that I feel comfortable enough to go to by myself and have a beer. The employees are all very friendly and welcoming, the food is great, the beer is cold, and the bathrooms are clean. It's not a large bar, but it's definitely on a more intimate level where you learn to know everyone that comes in. I have introduced a lot of my friends to this bar, and they love it as well. I will recommend them to anyone that wants a good beer and hot food.“

“Food was absolutely DELICIOUS! The coconut mojito was to die for. Service was great. The waitresses were friendly and accommodating. The owner made it a point to stop and talk to us and wish me a happy birthday. I definitely will be going back.“

“Authentic Mexican food — SO fresh! The salsa is amazing and there is a big variety of tacos prepared with traditional Mexican ingredients. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I had several questions about some items on the menu I was unfamiliar with- I learned a lot! Portion sizes are very generous -including the $7 Happy Hour Margaritas, which are made with fresh squeezed lime juice. No mixers here! My husband’s comment when we first tasted our food: “they definitely don’t take short cuts here”. This is a great addition to downtown WB - can’t wait to go back!“

“Found this little gem when my husband was working in the area. I picked it based on the reviews and so glad I did. The place was hopping with customers and the bartenders did a fantastic job of keeping the drinks full.The owner helped us find a seat as soon as we walked in and the service from that point on was incredible! The young female bartender reminded me of myself in the “old days”. She had lots of energy to match the atmosphere and was speedy with your next beverage, served with a big smile.We each got wings and shared the garbage fries, which was all delicious!! Big crispy wings with crispy celery to match and they were not skimpy on the Bleu Cheese either.Hopefully our travels take us back this way because I’d love to visit again!!“

“Finally got around to trying both their square and round pizza since it's only $10 for a 16-in. The round has very thin crust which I personally like. I'm not a pizza professor so I can't tell you what kind of cheese or whatever may have gone into the ingredients to give you an idea of what the outcome is but I thought it was good. The slices are definitely not as hefty as you would find at maybe Napoli's or in the Wilkes-Barre area Nello's to give an idea. But for $10 I would not pass this up. As for the square variety again not a pizza professor but it's comparable to most everything else around here. I would say at least in the square tray that I got the crust seemed a little too hard for my liking. But again no joke for a full tray for $10.“

“Can't pass up a Irish Bar and glad I gave Maddy's a try. The Budweiser bottles were ice cold The bartender and people at bar were very friendly. And there's a awesome huge pool table. I had a great time there. Very nice fun friendly atmosphere“

“We had a great dinner with another couple. We tried several items absolutely love the peach and Barada salad and was super surprised at how good their pizza was considering it's not a pizza joint. “When my Jeep grenaded it’s serpentine belt I pulled into the owners lot where I was greeted by Don and Vicky, they looked at my car, insisted I come in to stay warm and even gave me a few pints to take the sting of breaking down away! “Went for lunch on Father's day and didn't have to wait for a table at the bar, which was fine because my Dad and brother loved playing the games while waiting for our food. I ordered the turkey wrap and it was gigantic! I asked for everything on it and they sure did! The wrap was grilled to a pleasant crisp so it didn't get soggy. A large pile of hot fries and a pickle came with it. My Dad ordered a pizza as usual and it was perfectly done. Our bill was reasonable and our waitress was friendly and made sure we were happy. Glad we chose Checkerboard for my disabled Father's special day. Thank you :)“

“Little Tex-Mex/American/Polish? Fusion Restaurant with an old American pub attached: Strange first impressions. I didn't know it was possible to put burgers, tacos, and pierogi's on the same menu, so good for them. However, the food was great, as we tried the wings and burger. They cooked my burger perfectly median rare - fantastic. The service was quick and pleasant. The atmosphere was decent, with cool antique decorations scattered on the wall. We will be returning soon.“

“So was recommended by lisa at the pilot. Definitely grateful she did tell me to go here instead of miller ale house. Called, asked if they had Bears game trixie (hope i spelled it right) politely told me they have every game. I asked for nachos jokingly and of course they had. So i parked just my tractor across the street. Plenty of room. I and of course ordered nachos, ordered the small. Omg it was huge and delicious. Way too much lol The bar has lots of locals and everyone is beyond nice and very approachable. I had fun bantering there teams as they did with me. And the 2nd best clam chowder I've eaten..my wife had the eggplant...top notch...the place has a running brook along the restaurant...and plenty of tv...and to top it of a smoking room with reminded me of the 1970 rooms very cool. “My wife and I stopped in over the weekend and enjoyed it. Kester's is a great local bar. It's been around forever and never changes, and that's a good thing. They have a full bar up front and a large room with tables in the back. There is a patio and a few tables in the rear outside. They serve shots, mixed drinks and beer and they have snacks like chips etc. The bartender is very friendly. It's very clean including the restrooms. It is a smoking bar. They have off street parking. The prices are very fair.“
