“Go back in times with this neighborhood gem. Family owned serving authentic italian food. While there it appeared half the guests were regulars as staff addressed them by name and had frank conversations. We were greeted promptly when our drink orders were taken. We ordered the shrimp scampi and stuffed manicotti which we shared. The meals started with a green salad and bread. The entire meal was delicious and service was great. Love to see a family business supported by locals.“

Mi Casa Dominican • $$
217 E Diamond Ave, Hazleton

“As I texted my brother a restaurant link from Yelp, he texted me back with the link to this place, I guess he is better than me at finding good eats. We chose it because is a Dominican restaurant. The place is nice, spacious and with that cool touch for Dominican people to eat hang out and dance. The waitress said that on weekend nights it does get full with live music and people dancing. It was funny how she took my brother for my husband, so as I told her right away that he is my brother, it was much funnier and entertaining to see her interact with my brother...lol my brother got game. The food was served in a really nice wide dish with 4 spaces separated in squares, I never saw a dish like this quite nice and big. The food was really good and tasted like homemade, his steak was HUGE and delicious.“

“The restaurant is a bit off the beaten past. It’s definitely a neighborhood favorite. The food is tasty, just the right amount of spices. The beef in the beef stew was of good quality. The fried plantains were very good and the different rices were a welcome surprise. The young woman behind the counter could not have been nicer. She was upbeat and truly eager to help. She took the time to explain each of the dishes to us. I was glad to see both of the women behind the counter had their hair back and covered. The other diners appeared to be regulars, who were all genuinely happy to see each other. There is a real feeling of community. They all tried to make us feel welcome. If you find yourself in Hazleton, by all means go. If you live in Hazleton, go, or order delivery.“

Tostones Fried Green Plantain

“Okay. First of all, I was skeptical of ordering because I found mixed reviews of this restaurant but I decided to give it a shot and glad I did.I ordered “Yaroa de Plátano Maduro and Chicken” and just Wow. The Yellow plantains were very well smashed, he chicken was very well cooked and it had a consistent shredded chicken along the distribution of the plate. On too had white cheese with Mayonese and Ketchup and the infusion of all flavors together made of the plate a true traditional Dominican Yaroa master piece.Something true about previous reviews is that it DID NOT arrive hot it was more in the in medium temperature but it WAS NOT disappointing because the flavor made justice to the plate.I will rate the plate by what I think made sense:Smashed Yellow Plantain 5/5Shredded consistency of the Chicken 5/5Flavor of the chicken 4.5 (it was not salty or lower in salt I will say right in the middle, the seasoning was good I am glad because I have ordered from other places and their chicken is Mehh…)Amount of the chicken 5/5 (very generously served it they put this amount always you will have a loyal customer)Melted cheese 5/5Amount of Mayonese and ketchup 5/5 (not too little but not too much)Temperature of plate upon arrival 3.5The delivery was through DoorDash and they said 20-39 minutes and that was very accurateHow many people can eat from the serving? I would say if you aren’t Star wing it can be a 2 person plate( 1 adult and 1 kid) otherwise 1 adult can eat it.Would I recommend the plate? BIG FAT YESIn the next couple of weeks I will reorder and I will update the review if something is wrong otherwise great buyDo I think this is a $16 plate? Umm I would say for something you can do at home and knowing that the chicken is generous YES good price.“
