“We ate outdoors in front of the restaurant. Unfortunately, a millennial was shouting over his phone and broadcasting his call at the very next table over (why is it that people are too lazy to hold the phone next to their ears and feel compelled to share their conversations and music with the rest of us who don't care to listen to them?). Spoiled an otherwise excellent meal.“

“Stopped here for some tacos and margaritas. The regular margarita was $22 a pitcher ( not sure if it's always this price ). I ordered the cod and smash burger taco ( the cod was my favorite). My friend ordered the cod and breakfast chorizo ( favorite was the chorizo and ordered another ). The restaurant is casual. A quick grab and go or sit down for a quick bite.“

“Il Sorriso is a hidden gem tucked away in the heart of the city. The moment you step in, you're greeted by the rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee. The cozy ambiance and friendly staff make it the perfect spot to unwind or catch up with friends. Their espresso is bold and flavorful, and their pastries are delectable. Whether you're a coffee aficionado or just looking for a relaxing atmosphere, Il Sorriso never disappoints.“

“This is one of my favorite places to get work done near Penn/Drexel’s campus. The atmosphere is great, with a mix of sunlight and greenery as well as areas that are more removed for a less distracting environment. Would definitely reccomend the food, as well. Especially an egg white and cheese croissant!“
“Great coffee, great staff, and books! It is an unbeatable combination to de stress and unwind. Keep it up!“

“Have seen a lot of people say “delightful” and that’s an apt description. Family shop that you can tell, but what they’ve built is absolutely a marvel. Beautiful place, tons of coffee options, generous sizes without sacrificing it looking/being nice, food’s great too and rotating and actual thought seems to have gone into it rather than just pumping out 15 different croissants or something.“

“Cherry Street Cafe has the kindest, most attentive people working there. I have constant stomach troubles and the staff has always been attentive and adaptive when it comes to the foods I can eat/modifying dishes so I can still enjoy them.Dietary restrictions: The crew behind the counter will sub in anything you think you might need, and has even been so kind as to remember my substitutions when I forgot to mention them! Thanks guys!“

“Love the concept of this coffee shop! Interior has a Scandinavian design touch and builds on cleanliness and simplicity. Also, there’s plenty of seating and enough plug-ins in case you plan to work from here. The turmeric ginger tea that I got was great. Strongly recommend this coffee shop :)“

“I lived in Seattle for almost two decades and will admit to being a bit of a coffee shop snob. The Nook hits so many of my high points. Extremely good locally roasted coffee (in-house!). Amazing baked goods. The cocoa coffee bread must be tried, but leave me a slice! Great staff. If I ever move out of the neighborhood, I'll journey to the Nook for a great cup and bite.“

“Clean minimal shop with quality matcha products and great ice cream.Strawberry and earl grey swirl are my current go to after dinner in Chinatown, however it is a seasonal flavor so get it while you can. I’ve also had the hojicha float which was refreshing and had a deep roasted nutty flavor with an edge of bitterness. What I enjoy most about this place is the typical Asian compliment when it comes to dessert “not so sweet”.Surreal is quite trendy but I find myself becoming quickly tired of it due to amount, all the toppings, and just the overall sweetness of the ice cream whereas matcha Maiko has the perfect amount of sweetness to remind you it’s a treat but not to the point where halfway through you feel like need water or tea to tone down the sugar“

“I've tried Top Hat Coffee Lounge by the UPenn campus, but I'm glad I discovered this new location! It's definitely hidden within a plaza and is situated within the walkway as you exit Saks Fifth Avenue. While the space is small, there is still plenty to order in terms of drinks and several pastries as well. The staff greeted us with a very warm welcome and was patient while we decided on our drinks. My friend and I both ordered oat matcha lattes, which were delicious and tasted like high-quality matcha as we were told :) The added perk is that he did not charge us for substituting our milk with oat milk, so thank you for that!“

“Delicious food, fresh ingredients, tasty coffee, and friendly service. My husband and I stopped in for our first visit and loved everything we ordered. You can tell they put a lot of care and attention into the quality of the ingredients and the options on the menu. We've officially found our local go-to breakfast spot!“
“Gong cha is solidly okay boba - nothing to write home about but their tapioca is a good texture of chewy but not to chewy. The teas are too sweet for me at regular sweetness, so I recommend getting 50% sugar (regular is 75%). The service at this location is and a drink will average $7-8 with tax. They share the space with a to-go sushi restaurant and have a few tables inside, so you can grab dinner and a drink and sit and eat.“
“What a wonderful place! The staff is very kind and informative about their goals of working with the local rescue to find these babies homes. I appreciate all they do for these animals it’s awesome!“

“I revisit Joy Cafe (which is the newest name/incarnation for Soy Cafe) whenever I'm in NoLibs. It always leaves me feeling incredibly healthy and happy. Soy/Joy Cafe is in my top two vegan restaurants in all of Philly. My favorite dish here is the ramen with BBQ seitan. The seitan is just so very tasty. Everything here, from the seitan, to the vegan cream cheese, is homemade. My husband gets the carrot lox sandwich which includes the housemade cream cheeze along with red onions, carrot lox, and more, on many choices of really excellent bread. Don't leave without getting a smoothie! I tend to get the Green Giant, but the Coco Loco is also really yummy. Eat in the back garden on a nice day!“

“An excellent place for breakfast! Went here twice on a long weekend I was in town. Had the biscuits and gravy my first visit and a bagel breakfast sandwich the second visit. Both dishes were excellent, among the best of all the places I dined at during my stay! The service was excellent and friendly as well! Will definitely go here again the next time I am in Philly!“

“as long as quality coffee exists, cold wet gray days don’t make for the severe downer that they could be. stopped here before walking to Center City. ordered a large Americano—carefully crafted by the barista who took my order. the coffee was smooth and deep in flavor…served super hot which is a necessity on those chilly sun-less days. the service was pleasant. tbh, if i didn’t have a lunch destination, i would’ve ordered one of the signature liege waffle which look good. the cafe / coffee shop has plenty of seating with a warm yet modern feel whether you’re working, studying, or just need a moment of respite from the din of life. look forward to stop here during warmer days!“

“I’ve walked by this spot so many times, and it seemed every time I was hungry they were closed (closed on weekends) but today I finally stepped in. I ordered 2 bánh mìs and a Vietnamese coffee. Pete, the owner/operator of the spot was the only one there and we instantly jumped into great conversation about the music scene in Philly back in the late 90s. We ended up knowing a lot of the same people. Philly is a tight knit group. So even before eating the food I was already a fan of this spot. Pete served me his special take on Vietnamese coffee while we talked and he made the sandwiches. The iced coffee was excellent, but different and less sweet than Vietnamese coffee I’ve had in the past. He also used ice cubes made of coffee which was an added bonus for a coffee junkie like myself. After we talked for nearly 20 min, I walked home with my sandwich and WOW! Such a solid bánh mì! I told him to make it like he would make it for himself (spicy) and he knocked it out of the park. I’ll be back and I’ll be bringing all my music friends here when they are in the neighborhood. I highly encourage Olde City residents as well as Philly locals to give this place a try!“

“Absolutely amazing experience! The matcha latte was honestly the best quality I have ever tasted! All the food we ordered wasn't too sweet, and the matcha flavor itself was delicious! I was wary of a matcha overload, but it was perfect. The atmosphere is adorable too, and the matcha was in a cute green cup. I admire how even the ice cream cone wasn't the generic too-sweet cone. My kid brother loved the stuffed animals, and we will definitely come back!! ?“

“A very cute cafe in the area. I came with a friend because someone recommended the Sakura Coffee Latte here. The inside of the store itself is pretty small with only a few tables and window seating available -- there is wifi and a good amount of outlets to use too. The design is very clean, with calm instrumental music playing. The staff was very friendly. I enjoyed the Sakura Coffee Latte and found the flavor to be not too overpowering, but just the right amount. Overall, I would recommend checking CNT Cafe out!“

“Quaint full-service restaurant with Ethiopian food. About half the food is Ethiopian, and the other half is (American) sandwiches and soup. I got the sega alecha (beef stew). Came with injera bread (a sour, spongy flat bread made from teff). Definitely different from the usual fare.“

“Embraced by riverside tranquility, The Landing Kitchen offers more than just a meal; it provides a serene escape where the food is as delightful as the view. This all-day café marries local ingredients with inventive flair, resulting in a menu that's as fresh as the morning dew.Upon arrival, the indoor/outdoor setting immediately sets the stage for a dining experience that feels both intimate and invigorating, much like a picnic by the water--if your picnic was catered by an award-winning chef/restaurateur duo. The service here matches the scenery, with a side of smiles as sunny as the eggs on your plate.Let's dive into the menu, where the stars of our meal were the TLK Breakfast Sandwich and the TLK Burger. First up, the breakfast sandwich, a morning melody of maple chicken sausage, farm egg, cooper sharp cheese, and a zesty salsa verde that wakes you up better than your morning alarm. This isn't just a sandwich; it's a wake-up call to your taste buds, proving that breakfast really is the most important meal of the day--especially when it sings with such flavor. Then there's the TLK Burger, a masterpiece sandwiched between sweet potato buns that could easily be the breadwinner of any culinary contest. Topped with Calabrian aioli that adds just the right amount of kick, dill pickle for a crunch that echoes through the soul, and American cheese melting into every nook and cranny, this burger doesn't just satisfy your hunger; it embarks on a quest to conquer it, leaving no taste bud unturned. While The Landing Kitchen effortlessly earns its stars for both its vibe and its mouthwatering menu, it's the spirit of the place that truly sets it apart. Here, the passion for good food and community comes together in a symphony of flavors and experiences that resonate with the soul. It's a reminder that sometimes, the best culinary adventures are the ones that feel like coming home--assuming home comes with chef-prepared delights and riverside views. In short, The Landing Kitchen is more than just a café; it's a destination. A place where the beauty of nature meets the art of cooking, inviting you to land, stay awhile, and savor every moment. Whether you're here for the sunrise with a sandwich in hand or the sunset with a burger to bid the day goodbye, you're in for a treat--a delicious reminder of what happens when passion meets plate.“

“I liked this place. I went with my siblings on a week night and it still had a good many people inside. The place has a nice atmosphere with soft lighting and plenty of seating. The seating was primarily two person tables so it struck me as a more intimate setting or even a place to get some work done on a laptop, not a place for a large group. I ordered an espresso martini and it was fine, but a little heavy on the vodka, I thought it could have had a more well balanced profile. My brother and sister had the Rising Sun and the Gold Rush. They said they were pretty similar but the Gold Rush had a stronger alcohol flavor, but both were tasty. The service was really friendly and helpful. I like that they had a water tap with reusable cups available so you don't have to buy a water bottle or something. The bathroom is very spacious and clean, but there is only one in the place. I don't think that's a huge deal but it is nice to know. They sell their own whisky which is cool, my brother bought a bottle and we are excited to try it. As far as pricing goes, it's pretty standard for a place like this. $13 or so per cocktail, and between $5-$7 per coffee drink. Not a lot of food options, pastries mostly it seemed, so don't go in there with an empty stomach. Overall, Char & Stave is a nice place to grab a coffee or a cocktail or both, and have a nice intimate get together with a friend or two, and maybe even try some local whiskey. If you're in the area, I'd recommend it.“

“The best chicken salad. Ever. Also the best fries and the best milkshakes around. Can’t say enough about this place. The staff is friendly and attentive. The old building offers a nostalgic diner atmosphere. There are multiple seating area options for unique dining experiences from inside with booths and the counter surrounding a classic jukebox, to the quiet enclosed porch perfect for fall or spring days, to the lovely outside covered patio perfect for viewing down into Fairmount park on a warm summer afternoon. This place is the epitome of casual small-town-feel dining.“
