Lots of hype for a not very good restaurant which is now closed. Yes, this restaurant has closed as of this month. If you have a gift certificate, you are out of luck

Checkers has been a solid restaurant with deliciously prepared menu items and well crafted cocktails. With Covid the hours of operation unfortunately had to be greatly reduced. We ate there last night March 31, 2021, just for 4 days before the Governor will be increasing occupancy to 75% and allowing bars to open. We wanted to take our 90 year old father to Checkers because he loves it and now that he is vaccinated is thrilled and comfortable eating out again. Checkers officially only allow 2 guest per party, although there was a party of 3 dining next to us. obviously special treatment not available to my 90 year old father which would have made out party 3. The food was very good as it always is but I must say the young man that waited on us was so condescending, that he left my wife and I feeling like we were being scolded by a young man more than half of our age. In fairness the young man seemed to be the server and the bar tender and hostess all in one. So when we received substandard service we were not upset, he was obviously trying his best, but we did not need an attitude on top of that. I questioned him at the end of our meal about if the bar would be opening next week since the Governor has allowed this to happen. He snapped and said " we will open when we are ready to open and not before then", with the most arrogant attitude that both my wife and I were taken aback. I just thought the revenue from the bar would be a welcome return to the business to get back to normal and just maybe be about to be profitable again. I am sorry to say I will not be returning anytime soon. I only hope this young man with an attitude doesn't ruin the great restaurant's reputation, great food is usually the hard part for a restaurant but Checkers prepares great food consistently, they just need to have acceptable service to go along with that.

My boyfriend's favorite restaurant in Lancaster is Checkers Bistro. As a result, I was very excited for him to take me there for a Friday date night! Due to the pandemic, we were unable to dine indoors, but were able to order take out. According to my boyfriend, the menu was very different than normal, with fewer selections. Despite this, we were both able to find meals we enjoyed. I ordered the Turkey Avocado Sandwich. I loved the pesto mayonnaise and the muenster cheese! My boyfriend ordered the Grilled Chicken Sandwich, which tasted amazing due to the paprika aioli! As a side, we had the roasted vegetables, which included nutritious brussel sprouts, cauliflower, and carrots. I look forward to returning when indoor dining is available and the full menu returns!

Checkers is one of my Lancaster favorites. I go here when my parents come to town, for my birthday, and even to celebrate when I bought a new house! Can't get enough of the cauliflower and bolognese and risotto cakes when they are on the menu! The menu does change up from time to time which is great because you have an opportunity to try more delicious food! Portions aren't huge, but I wouldn't say anything is overpriced. It's a perfect amount for what I want for my meal.

The restaurant is beautifully made. HOWEVER the service is horrible. The server never introduced herself. She never replenished my water and she never checked on my table. I waited over 15 mins for my salad another 10 minutes for my small plate and another 20 minutes for my main entree. As I sat and watched other tables get serviced before my table. This was my first visit and my last. I am very disappointed. My expectation was to be treated as if I was wanted. And that was clearly not the case. My suggestion is that you keep your money and take it elsewhere, preferably somewhere they will treat you as they should.

Checkers Bistro delivered on their website's promise to provide "warm hospitality and unparalleled service" coupled with "everyday delicious food that is the signature Checkers Style." Interested in takeout, I called Checkers to investigate their COVID-era ordering protocols as well as their allergen-conscious offerings. The young woman who took my call was upbeat and helpful, double-checking on ingredients with the kitchen team and guiding me to a safe-for-me meal. With her help, I landed on the Bistro Cheddar Burger (hold the cheddar) and sweet potato fries. The patty was thick and cooked exactly to order, and the seasoning was light but lovely. The lettuce was springy and fresh. The toasted bun hailed from a local bakery and kept its structural integrity while I ate (score!). The fries' low-key sweetness provided a great counterbalance to the burger's savory deliciousness. If this order is indicative of the quality of their food and service, I think I'd probably become a regular if I lived in the area. Bonus sweetness: When I opened my takeout bag, I discovered that they'd included a small orange with my order—a thoughtful little vitamin C boost for a pandemic pickup. :)

Easily my favorite restaurant in Lancaster. The food is to die for and the same applies to their cocktails. It's a little on the pricier side, but well worth it for the quality of food and the atmosphere.

I loved the decor. But overall was not satisfied with the experience. For the price we paid, it was soo not worth it and Im sorry we wasted that much money there. I could have spent that same amount somewhere else and really enjoyed it. Beware right now that they automatically add 20% gratuity to your bill, even if it wasn't deserved. My steak, the special of the day, wasn't prepared as I asked. It tasted good, but was overcooked. The waiter was stiff and not friendly. Even with a mask on, you could tell he wasn't smiling. That has a huge impact on the dining experience. We won't be going back. It was ok, but so not worth the money.

We have been going to Checkers for over 10 years. It has always been a favorite or ours. However, we have been disappointed the last 5 times we have been there. The menu never changes and the service has been deteriorating. Lasts night was the worst service we have ever received. The server never introduced herself. It took 20 minutes for us to get our drink order. We could barely hear the server when she spoke. Not once did she ask us if everything was ok. We had to flag down another server to get us another drink. Truly disappointed.
