Our experience paled in comparison to our prior one. Such a disappointment. Rather than two tiered servers of sweet and savoy, we received one tiered and a plated assortment. Cutting corners is not what you would expect at The Rittenhouse. Service was abysmal. Not attentive at all in the 2+ hours we spent there. After ordering two Rittenhouse Teas, our tea, champagne, plated and tiered server were delivered to the table within 15 minutes. Totally rushed. Afterwards, no one checked on us. No refilling of water glasses, no asking if we needed more hot water for our tea pots, or an additional champagne. We had to signal for service. We asked for a takeaway box and based on what we saw happening with other customers, made sure we asked for bag to put the container in. At our last visit, our take home tea was delivered to the table in bag. Not this time. Two canisters placed on the table. Definitely not living up to the reputation.

Wow! A special addition to a lovely outing with friends. If you are a formal tea person, you will appreciate every aspect of the service, perhaps with the exception of the price. The menu selections, presentation, and service are very well executed. The atmosphere is set with a lovely harpist playing contemporary music rearranged for strings. Very clever. Our heads were bopping along with the tunes. The server was attentive, and the steps to the sunken room make you feel like you are stepping into a special place. For us, the timed seating was too short. We wanted to sit and enjoy the room and music.Caveat emptor- it is a spendy experience.

Ok service and atmosphere, loved that there was a harp player. Slightly worse than mediocre food. The pastries tasted very bland with an overwhelming sweetness but no flavor, and overall the food was very dull and uninspired. Compared to other afternoon teas, this one had a very limited tea selection. Bottom line, for the price I would expect the food to not be as boring.

There were only 2 people working and every table was packed, so the service was very slow.I expected an elevated experience and was left disappointed.

My wife and I had the pleasure of going out on one of our first dates since having our daughter at the Mary Cassatt Tea Room & Garden this past weekend. My wife, a lover of all things Afternoon Tea, has always wanted to experience service at The Rittenhouse and Aj Memmo, the Tea Manager, and his team did a sensational job. From my first conversation with AJ when booking, to my second conversation with AJ when I had to re-schedule, to finally getting to speak with him about all things tea during our visit; The Rittenhouse is extremely lucky to have someone as passionate, hospitable and dedicated as he is.If you are ever in the area and are looking to treat yourself to a moment of sheer delicious bliss, make sure to stop by the Mary Cassatt Tea Room... Or better yet, call ahead so you can make sure that AJ knows you're coming!

One of the more upscale spots in Philadelphia that has that Parisian aesthetic. It’s on the pricier side, afternoon tea set starts at $70 per person. The space is in the lobby of the rittenhouse hotel, nice open and airy, service was great as well, our server was very attentive and sweet. The teas were amazing, complex and fragrant. Food was good, not great, but generally I’m never blown away by afternoon tea food so this is already above average as far as high teas go. Scones were definitely good, desserts are interesting and pretty delicate. Sandwiches were just ok, wish they had more options to pick from.

I had afternoon tea with my husband here for my birthday and they knocked the experience OUT OF THE PARK!! From the moment I walked in the door, it felt like being in paradise. Elegantly decorated, a beautiful woman playing the harp in the tea room, impeccable service, and beautiful and delicious savories and sweets. They made my special day so incredibly special!! If you're a fan of afternoon tea, DEFINITELY make yourself a reservation!! Also, try the butterfly pea flower tea!! It's delicious and it's blue!!

Had an amazing afternoon tea on my birthday a few weeks ago. It was smaller than I thought and I didn’t know it was inside the Rittenhouse hotel until I got there, but it’s perfect because you get great service and the set up is so nice. My boyfriend and I only ordered one signature and got an extra teapot on the side. I personally liked the herbal tea more than the regular tea. It was amazing ! All of the savory and sweet food items tasted phenomenal. I look forward to going back!

I just went to Mary Cassatt Tea Room for a bridesmaid proposal. It is located In the Rittenhouse House Hotel. The staff there went above and beyond to make this so special for the bride to be. She said they were beyond accommodating and very attentive. They catered to several peoples food allergies. They even made personalized menus for the day. Our server the day of was very impressive. The atmosphere gives high class! As you enjoy tea, sandwiches, and petit desserts there is a lovely garden view and a harpist playing live music. The tea was delicious along with the sandwiches, scones, and desserts! I would recommend this to anyone interested in planning a special day!

Excellent service, relaxing, lovely tea options, great food and desserts. Top quality. You're very well taken care of. Love the natural light coming in from the garden

The place was extremely overpriced and the manager pulled me aside to try to shame our party about the tip amount and demanded more . Very unclassy
