I had the most insane experience in this place. I have never been so confused at the aggressive nature and pointless rules of a pizza restaurant. First, while waiting for a pizza that we paid for, several friends and I asked to have a drink at the bar and there were not enough seats for all of us to sit. The hostess proceeded to rudely say “um I guess that’s ok” and then went and openly complained about us to a coworker. Then when we get to the bar, the bartender refuses to serve us and tells us we have to go stand in the corner. Then we observed the staff tell an elderly woman that she had to wait outside in the rain for her pizza. Let me be clear, there was in no way a lack of standing space inside this building, but the employees behaved in a way that was bizarre, aggressive, and totally unnecessary for a pizza restaurant. I will not, without question, ever patronize this establishment ever again.

Outrageously good pizza. Got a Forager and a Two Sauce Pie. Just incredible stuff. Quick service, in and out in Millvale. Very excited to have an Iron Born close by now!

I’ve been wanting to try their pizza for a long time and it was worth the wait. I’m a thin crust any style but this Detroit style is cooked to perfection.

Highly recommended to me by the librarian at the Millvale library down the street. The "Yinzer" pepperoni and mushroom pizza is DELICIOUS. Highly recommend. I rated the service at 3 because they gave me the wrong pizza and I had to return it for my order, but the manager made up for it with an extra pizza and I left pleased with the outcome and thoroughly enjoyed the Yinzer.

Wanted a quick meal after arriving our first night from the West Coast. Located in the Strip District and about a 10 minute walk from our hotel we found this little gem. While deep dish - Detroit style pizza isn’t our usual go to - the pizza was delish and hearty. Beer selection great on top of that. Our server was super friendly and helpful ! Very small seating area so you may have a wait to get a table.

Awesome sauce on this Detroit style pizza. Quick turnaround and friendly staff. There's a few seats to wait for your takeout as that's what it is.

Man, pizza can be such a subjective thing, it’s all up to your personal preference. When I first moved here a few years ago, I met some “foodie” types who gushed about this place. I knew I’d make it down at some point, and that point was yesterday. This is Detroit style, with some noticeable differences. If you’ve lived in or visited Michigan, you know Jets, and there are a host of “authentic” spots in the Motor City and state. Pan crust pizza, square, with crispy edges from cooked cheese on the sides of the pan. Reminiscent of Sicilian, but very different, one of the main differences being that the sauce is placed on top of the cheese. And the sauce shines at Iron Born, no question. It’s bright, with a memorable tang, and fresh-tasting thanks to the herbs they’re using. Number 2 on the ranking scale for this pizza is the crust. It’s thick, yes, but it is light and airy. It’s not doughy whatsoever, not heavy. The pizza overall is not greasy, despite being slightly oily (it is pan after all) and crispy. I’m going to give a slight knock here for the pizza we tried being not that hot even though it was a busy night, and honestly the cheese, although high quality clearly, could’ve been a bit more flavorful. House made chips and dip were bangin.I have to recommend Iron Born, this could be a game changer for someone in the area or for a visitor unfamiliar with the Detroit style. There’s one or two Jets locations too locally, and if you like this I’d recommend checking those out to compare/contrast.

It's time to stop kidding myself. I like to tell myself that Neapolitan pizza is my favorite, but then why do I constantly end up running to any Detroit style pizza place that I find? It's simply irresistible. If you know, you know. And in the world of Detroit style, Iron Born is king. From the days of Smallman galley, I was hooked. A massive menu of insane pizza creations, both white and red tops....all sitting on the best pizza crust you'll find anywhere. The deep crunch of a Detroit pizza is unmatched. The Forager is a can't miss....garlic cream, roasted mushrooms, ricotta, and drizzled with honey. Hits the spot every single time. Iron Born is honestly the best Detroit pizza I've experienced anywhere, and that's included in Detroit itself. Although just a few times per year, I've been visiting Pittsburgh on business for almost a decade now. In the early days I'd try new places. I'm not ashamed to admit that over the past 5 years I have not had anything in Pittsburgh but iron born. It's that good.

I cannot recommend this place enough, the pizza's are amazing we also had a wonderful appetizer, chips with French onion dip, which was unforgettable. The staff was lovely and friendly. Great atmosphere and one of the highlights of our trip to Pittsburgh.

Probably the best pizza in Pittsburgh. Great vegetarian options (LOVE the forager pie). Only wish they were open later.

Picked up from millville. Was given a window in which the pizza would be ready and was supposed to get a text when done. I want to go get it with 10 minutes left and that window and still hadn't gotten a text. The pizza was cold. The staff was unfriendly and got mad at me for peeking around the register to see if it was ready. Brought it home and had to reheat it. Got a text as I was pulling into my driveway 10 minutes away that my pizza was ready.
