“The location is an odd corner of downtown - but don’t let that discourage you! The owner is very nice, the restaurant is very clean, the food is authentic, and the ingredients are of great quality. We wanted to have a delicious meal before traveling to Korea for the first time and it was a perfect introduction. Thank you for a delicious dinner and all the well wishes!“

“We ate here on a Saturday evening, with a reservation for two at 7.30pm. When we arrived the restaurant was quite full and we had to wait a little while before being seated. At that point, the service was very strong. We tried several dishes, including the salad, miso soup, sashimi plate, nigiri plate, and some hand rolls (mushroom, eel, scallop). We tried the tiramisu, chocolate pudding, and crème caramel for dessert. All in all, the food was tasty, the ambiance was relaxing and pleasant, and service was good. We had a very nice evening.“

“During my week-long stay in Pittsburgh, I had the pleasure of dining at Maiku Vietnamese Pho, and it truly stands out as the pinnacle of culinary excellence in the city. I explored various eateries throughout the city, but none matched the impeccable flavors and authenticity of Maiku's offerings. The moment you step in, the aroma of authentic Vietnamese cuisine envelops you, setting the stage for a remarkable dining experience. Their Pho is a symphony of flavors, each spoonful bursting with freshness and depth, reminiscent of the streets of Vietnam. But it's not just their Pho; every dish I tried showcased a dedication to quality ingredients and expert craftsmanship.Beyond the exquisite food, the service is unparalleled. The staff exudes warmth and hospitality, ensuring every guest feels welcomed and well taken care of. Whether you're a seasoned connoisseur of Vietnamese cuisine or a first-time visitor, Maiku Vietnamese Pho guarantees a culinary journey that will leave you craving for more.In conclusion, if you're in Pittsburgh and craving authentic Vietnamese cuisine, look no further than Maiku Vietnamese Pho. It's not just a restaurant; it's an experience that will linger in your memory long after the last bite.Highly recommended!“

“The food and service was excellent. We enjoyed the sashimi plate as well as a couple of the bowls. It has a bar-like vibe, offering some inventive cocktails. It takes two flights of steep stairs to get there, so the crowd is inevitably younger and able.“

“From start to finish everything was superb. Seaweed salad was very tasty. The steak bao was delicious. Definitely some of the best sushi I have ever eaten. The service was excellent as well! I had heard really amazing things prior to my own visit and my experience definitely lived up to the praise. I will definitely recommend and be back myself!! Well done!!“

“I stopped by yesterday to grab a quick lunch for me and a friend. It's a small spot with not a lot of seating (I counted 10 seats) that does a brisk takeout business. I ordered three specialty rolls for me and a friend and the food came out fairly quickly. The sushi itself was pretty good and was about $41 for three specialty rolls before tip. I would definitely come back and order again!“

“Interior could use a bit of updating, but was clean and comfortable enough (kudos on the St Paddy's day decorations!). As for the sushi, definitely some of the best in town. Had the dragon, rainbow, Pittsburgh, and red dragon rolls, and loved them all.“

“Our first experience at KIKU was highly memorable and a truly delightful evening! 5/5 stars all around! ⭐️ We made a reservation for 8 people which they easily accommodated, and the pacing of the many courses and dishes we all sampled was timely and thoughtful. We also requested a staff member who spoke Japanese because we are in a beginner’s language club trying to improve our Japanese and conversation skills. Yasuko B. was absolutely wonderful!! So patient, kind, and helpful in speaking with us and making it an extremely positive experience. She took great care of our table and made me feel welcome to try speaking in Japanese even though I am a beginner without a lot of confidence. I left feeling very inspired and motivated to continue seeking out experiences like this and hopefully meeting more kind people like Yasuko. All of the food was exceptional, and I especially loved the torikatsu, korokke, iidako, and beef tataki. The drink I ordered, Jade East, was hands down one of my favorite drinks I’ve ever tried. Also, the ube mochi was delicious! Overall, we loved everything about KIKU and we are already looking forward to our next visit. ありがとう ございました !“

“The calamari was nice, I should have been warned it was an overpriced kids meal; 4 mashed potato's, 4 shrimp, and 4 asparagus in gravy --I believe that was the shrimp volcano? And grilled salmon. It could be better, the ambiance is a bit stale but convinced myself it was convenient.“

“Not as good as nearby Silk Road, but almost as impressive. The sushi was super excellent ? The orange chicken for the most part was good, just a few stringy pieces. Service was a bit slow but they were little busy on a Saturday night. Will visit again.“

“We got back from Japan a week ago and were missing the amazing food. Thankfully, my husband found Yukiyama. Wow! It was super authentic and we loved it. We ordered way too much food not thinking the portions would be Americanized. No matter. I'm happy to have leftovers for lunch this week. We loved the gyoza (dumplings). They were so soft, delicate and flavorful. They didn't need the sauce but the sauce was terrific. The pictures of their sushi looked good so I wanted to try it. The tuna roll was delicious and only $6. My husband loved his chashu (pork that tastes just like bacon) ramen. There were tons of noodles, huge pieces of pork and mushrooms. He really enjoyed it and was in the mood for ramen since we loved it so much in Japan. I got the chicken katsu (basically a cut up fried chicken cutlet or breast). It was so crispy, tender and flavorful. The portion was giant. It came with white rice, miso soup and the sweet and delicious katsu sauce that I love. We wi definitely be back to try other things when we come back out to Squirrel Hill. The man who brought out the food was so sweet. We miss Japan and found an amazing new spot.“

“this is a nice little restaurant. It's not big or fancy but the staff makes you feel welcome. The menu is pretty extensive & the prices are good & the portions are really good. I had their hot tea & it was very good. The food was excellent! If you enjoy authentic Japanese food & friendly staff then you should visit Ginza Japanese Restaurant!“

“I love this place. They have temporary ramp they can put out if you use a wheelchair. You might think this is a pain but what you should know is they City of Pittsburgh is really slow to give them a permit for a permanent ramp. They have been working on it for a long time now.“

“I’m very rarely downtown at lunch time, but every time I am, I look forward to eating at this place. A friend introduced me to this restaurant years ago and I’m so glad they are still around. It’s counter service and they only take cash (and FYI, they don’t accept the juror discount vouchers other restaurants in this food court do). Service is brisk and professional. My food was ready in just a few minutes.I always get the kyu-don, and it is DELICIOUS every time. It’s a pretty generous portion of beef, egg, and rice. I like it with the oil added on top to give it a mild spice. I’ve been tempted to try some of the other things on the menu — they all sound good — but the kyu-don is so good I just can’t not have it.I’ll be looking forward to coming back the next time I’m downtown!“

“If you are going for the all you can eat sushi I think it is a fair deal! $27 and the menu is huge! Go hungry! The sushi was tasty and came pretty quickly. I would stick only to the sushi though! The appetizers tasted frozen and the noodle soup had no flavor. The only appetizer we liked was the sexy jalapeños but still just B grade! But the sushi was worth it! Tons of choices! The waiter was great and checked on us multiple times so we didn't feel bad about placing many orders! It is pretty crowded and noisy in there but a fun time!“

“A good all around Asian restaurant with a varied menu that covers enough bases for everyone to find something they like: Sushi, a broad selection of the usual American Chinese dishes, Pad Thai, Thai Curries, …The prices were very fair for being located on Walnut Street in Shadyside. Noodles or fried rice were in the $13 -$16 range and 75% of the other entrees in the $16 - $20 range. Regular sushi rolls were priced between $6 - $9 and most Special Rolls were $15 - $17.We enjoyed the sushi which was comparatively good for the city in an energetic, above average atmosphere for this type of restaurant. Nice, sturdy take home bags were a plus.“

“Extensive seafood menu & fresh fish sold. Soup & chowder. We had the crab cake sandwich, it was not good. $23. Fishy. It could be much better. Not sure what type of crab is used, fairly certain it was not lump crab meat? We will try a different seafood entree or sandwich on our next visit & hope for better.“

I was trying to kill some time here before work one day and was expecting lunch to take at least an hour but my sushi and drinks were out in less than eight minutes. The sushi is great and fresh every time I get it I love this place“

“Listen here, there is none better than FORTUNE STAR! 2 time visitor in 5 days! Immediately greeted and seated to let the all you can eat begin! I absolutely stuffed myself both visits! Not out of hunger but out of necessity! I had to see what every dish tasted like and was never disappointed!“
