“My family decided to visit Caribbean Deck Cafe while we were vacationing in the Poconos. From the moment we walked in, Shaine treated us like family! He allowed us to taste test a few dishes and we enjoyed talking to him about all kinds of things. As for the food itself, it felt like we were at Shaine's backyard barbeque! He kept piling it on and the portions were huge! We tried the curry goat (my favorite, though everything could arguably be considered a favorite!), the oxtail, stew chicken, and jerk chicken - each dish was full of flavor, hot/fresh, and oh so satisfying! The curry goat was seasoned to perfection, the oxtail was meaty and tasty, the stew chicken meat was fall-off-the-bone (see photo), and the spicy homemade jerk sauce was out of this world! Anytime we go to the Poconos, we plan on being back here for sure. The sides consisted of plantains and cabbage, and both paired very well with each meal. Rice options are rice and peas or white rice (rice was delicious). We dined in and appreciated the large plates and overall attentive experience. After our meal, Shaine hooked us up with sweet potato pudding and Hennessy cake on the house! And I must say: Both hit the spot! The sweet potato pudding was like a slice of sweet potato pie with pudding consistency - it was hot and sweet, and it was exactly what I needed after the amazing meal. Hennessy cake gave me rum cake vibes (note: I don't drink alcohol and am far from a connoisseur) and it was also great! We want to thank Shaine for really going above and beyond to take care of our family. The Poconos community is blessed to have him and Caribbean Deck Cafe! Every 5-Star Review is well-earned/well-deserved, and you will NOT regret visiting. Very highly recommended!!!“

“as a new yorker, this is the best latin food in the poconos. set up like a deli where you can pick from different meats in the metal trays. every time we come up to the mountains it’s a must have spot. there is a good amount of seating although we usually get it for takeout. not far from great wolf, camelback and premium outlets. definitely worth a visit if you’re missing authentic latin food while you’re in the poconos. hope they stay in business forever !! “Nice pit stop. The restaurant has a nice rustic feel to it. We tried the shrimp tacos and grilled chicken pesto sandwich. Loved the shrimp tacos. Very fresh and flavorful. The chicken pesto was not my favorite. Unfortunately, I did not care for the chicken sandwich. The seasoning was too salty and the foccia bread was stale. The server happily let me replace my meal for the shrimp tacos which were amazing. Great service!“

“Typical diner, food was great, service was superior. Only gave 4 stars because it was nothing extraordinary. It was very good. We both had 2 eggs, potatoes, toast—one of us had bacon and one pork roll. Coffee was good. Would stop again if in the area. Tips are appreciated in cash but diner does take credit cards.“

So obviously this went over really well. We got a huge amount of chicken and peas & rice, a nice side of steamed cabbage (even this was sooooo delicious) with a few fried plantains on top. “Last time I was here The Brookside was under different ownership and that review probably would have been 2 stars. Since the new ownership has taken over they have changed some decor and brightened the place up a bit and have started doing some differently themed food days like a wing night and a southern soul food style Sundays event.The service here has been good the few times I’ve been in. I’m always greeted immediately and helped to a beverage and given a menu. I haven’t experienced any long waits to get another drink and everyone has been very friendly.This review specifically is on their wings. We were in on a wing night and got the garlic ranch wings and the Kings hot honey wings. This wing special night has a list of sauces that changes weekly. You’ll still have your staples every week but there are quite a few that rotate in and out so it doesn’t get stale. My gf loves the garlic ranch and I’m consistently trying new flavors. I also had the blackberry bbq which were very tasty, and the plain Buffalo (The OG baby) also has good flavor.These wings are nice and crispy without sacrificing the juiciness of the meat itself. They are not tiny little wings but they are also not these mammoth ones you see at some places where it’s impossible to get a proper cook on them and still have good texture.I’ll be back in soon to try out that Southern food menu, but the wings absolutely Didn’t Suck!“
