“The area was hit with 6 inches of snow. I walked over to Barrel 21 and was the only customer crazy enough to go there while it was snowing still. (More diners came in once the snow abated.) Friendly server/bartender. I tried the Keywaydin Hard Cider, which was good and went great with the Barrel Burger (Ribeye burger which is ground in house, brown sugar, & balsamic caramelized onions, bacon, muenster, roasted garlic aioli on a potato roll) and the truffle fries (Fries topped with parmesan cheese and served with a parmesan truffle aioli.). The burger really had a steak flavor to the meat, and the bacon had a nice smoke to it, not the cheap stuff the fast food places serve that looks like it was sitting around for a while. I was visiting the area from a few hours away, otherwise, I would definitely be back again, probably to get the burger again since it was so good!Parking: Plenty of parking for Barrel 21 and their sister restaurant, Otto's Pub next door.“
“Since we were staying at the Graduate State College, we decided to come here for dinner despite the lack of any yelp reviews. We ordered cocktails, two glasses of wine and two meals. Everything was really good, especially the two dishes. I ordered a chilled wild salmon salad which was outstanding. Very high quality clean eating. My husband ordered the mini meat loaf with steamed broccoli and twice baked potato. Again this was a very good dish. The portion of broccoli was surprisingly large and the meat loaf had a ton of flavor. We highly enjoyed our drinks and meals. The reason for giving a 4 * rating and not the highly coveted 5 * was the service. We were the only patrons in the bar area for most of our dining time where we sat at the bar. After asking a few questions regarding the drinks and menu items, it seemed that our bartender was annoyed with us for inquiring about such things. He was not rude but also not friendly or courteous. It felt a bit awkward at best. We even contemplated coming back another night and ordering the same food but we opted to forgo another awkward situation.“
“Came here with my family after graduation and it was awesome. The people that work here are so patient and friendly. The happy hour is fantastic and the food is pretty good! They have a lot of appetizers but they're large portion and great value.“
“The bartender Chris was outstanding: personable, offered suggestions since it was our first visit, and checked in frequently. Good looking bar with an old school look. We had cheesesteak, grilled cheese and tomato soup(excellent on a chilly rainy day). It was good, not amazing, no slight. Definitely would go back for an afternoon.“
“Absolutely fantastic. The menu constantly changes, and they somehow improve upon the previous version every single time.Love the atmosphere and people!Dietary restrictions: Almost everything was gluten-free.Parking: Can’t wait for the new parking lot, bc the current one is a bit small.“
“Superb! Enjoyed a family birthday celebration and had the BEST time staying at “The Gamble Mill” including the use of the private “Speakeasy” room. So classy!!! The decor of the whole place is beautiful, modern yet cozy while feeling a presence of history - really cool! The bedroom suites are spacious and provide detailed amenities- they thought of every little thing; the bed was super comfy and the sheets/blankets so soft and lush.“The Republic” bar served a variety of delicious signature cocktails - I especially enjoyed the “Anne Marie” and the “Perfect Martini” So refreshing and served in pretty glasses! The service was so friendly, attentive and timely. I love the atmosphere of this bar! Definitely a place to visit or go regularly if you live nearby!“
“Saturday night, pretty noisy in this small restaurant. Parking lot was full. We were seated quickly. Great sangria on special. Ordered a burger, shepherd's pie, and brisket grilled cheese. All were fine, but not memorable. Dessert Banoffee pie was very good!“
“Stopped in to have brunch after skiing. We had the avocado toast, bear burrito and eggs Benedict. They were all amazing! My personal favorite was the avocado toast, but loved them all. Extremely busy, race weekend and the service was still great!“
“The food was excellent. We got the Mexican nachos, coconut shrimp, po boi, Caesar salad and the chicken tacos, and they all tasted great. The drinks weren’t very good and our server could’ve been more attentive but overall the atmosphere, the seating, and food were excellent!“
“What this restaurant does well, it does particularly well. The carbonara is excellent, and easily their top entrée. The limoncello makes for an excellent dessert. Conversely, other entrées, such as the flounder, are okay but not necessarily the best you'll have. The location's ambience is very inviting, conveying, a sense of intimacy and elegance. The service is very good and attentive. It very much has the feel of a date night destination on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday evening.“
