“I come from a Mexican family in California, so when I moved to Pittsburgh, I was deeply disappointed at the lack of good, authentic Mexican food. When I found this place, I rejoiced! The food is amazing: made with the authentic basics in mind, yet refined with originality. It really feels like home in all the best ways.“

“Me and my girlfriend went to Baby Tacos today for the first time we got there a few minutes before they opened. Who I’m assuming the owner was very friendly and still waited on us. The food was done in minutes and when I went to check out he told me to put my money away the first one is on the house. There aren’t to many businesses like this one in this day and age. Food was great will definitely be a return customer“

“The wife and I are always looking for a new place to try pretty much each week. I've been seeing so many reviews, we had to check the place out.I have to say, I agree with everyone else. The food is excellent ?.The menu is simple which I love and everything I've had I love and will be back for more.I've always wanted to try Mofongo, so that was a no brainer. I went with what others were raving about and got the Pernil?? I am not much of a pulled pork guy but this stuff is the bomb!!Can't wait to go back. They also have a large seating area.We played games while we waited and they were free.“

“First time here, delicious and fresh. Price is very nice, 10 bucks for two tacos and chips and salsa or queso. Filled with meat and all the toppings were just the right amount and taste. Better then the closest mexican restaurant by far! Will for sure come back for more!“

“This was a mixed bag. There were 8 of us. Parking is sufficient, right off 88, not hard to find. Easy wheelchair access. After ordering, you seat yourself. They don't take reservations. Waitresses bring your drinks & food to the table. You order at a cafeteria counter, but the food is upscaled. They smoke their own meats outside in the parking lot. The menu is varied with brisket & pulled pork as the smoked products served in familiar as well as new formats like a pulled pork taco. Smelled great, but I was determined to try the buttered lobster roll. It was amazing! Small, tender bun stuffed with the meat of 1 lobster all in butter, unfortunately I did bite into a small bit of shell. Hubby tried the lentil, ham, veggie soup. It was a pretty large bowl & really good. His entree was a shaved ribeye sandwich, also excellent, although I thought it could have had more meat. Crispy, salted waffle fries were terrific. Others had burger, small plate salmon dinner, crab cake - everyone was pleased. The desserts were not very good. Creme Brulee & cheesecake were good, cookies & brownies were hard, not good.Overall, I would go back again. Next trip I will be trying those tacos.“

“The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, I was greeted as soon as I walked in and got a table quickly. Lindsay, my server, was very friendly and efficient, never had to ask for a refill and made good recommendations for the nachos which I can’t stop thinking about. The food and the margaritas were delicious, I’d def go back!“

“$3 tacos were bomb!! i love that they filled up each one with whatever meat you ask for and you can fill it up with whatever toppings and sides you want at their toppings bar. they accept both cash and card and you would pay after you receive your food.“
“I ordered lunch from here for the first time using grubhub. I was quickly called to confirm my taco toppings, or should I say the lack thereof. I explained I like them on the simpler side for toppings. I am not sure if I spoke to the owner or not, but she was very kind. So apologized as one of the toppings I selected was currently out of stock and the drink I selected as well. She offered to replace my drink and even said she would send 2 with my delivery! I was shocked I wasn't expecting it, I understand things happen. Once my order arrived, it was just as I wanted, and upon inspection, there was a small gift card for the out of stock items to come back and try again. I am speechless they went above and beyond, especially for the price point of their food, which was delicious and really made my day better. I will now be taking my husband to try the place soon!“

“Came here late night after a photoshoot in the city. Treated the people I was with to a nice meal. I called to see if there was a wait. The person on the phone was very helpful and it was not busy, so we could get in. They greeted us very kindly and sat us upstairs. My only complaint is that the fans made it cold after coming in from rainy weather. I suggest coming here during (Happy Hour) as the food and drinks are very pricey, but understandable as the quality of the food was worth it. The house made tortillas were warm and delicious. The queso, salmon, and guacamole appetizers were delicious and filling. Pineapple Margarita hit the spot. All the tacos they have are superb. Very delicious late evening option if you want quality food.“

“We order chorizo tacos and burritos from California Tacos. The food is consistently good and full of flavor. The chicken would be a better choice for those who are sensitive to heat. They provide fresh lime slices for the tacos, which is great! Pay cash and avoid the service fee. Love this establishment!“

“Quirky location, but that only makes it better. Definitely worth the visit. Afteryour first, round two will definitely be on your mind. Also, where else can you get tacos, a sixer, scratchers, and a redballs all in the same spot? Do it! Do it! Do it! ?“
“About a month ago my wife and I were looking for another restaurant which was closed but we drove by this joint so I called at 5:30 on a Friday night and was told they were 100% booked all night. So, I had to investigate. This is a small place with only about 12 tables and a very small bar, I think a 4 seater. We had the greens and beans with sausage. This version had both spinach and escarole and was a solid 4. Our two entrees were the veal and peppers and veal scaloppini both very similar. The veal was cooked perfectly and the the mushrooms were plentiful in the delicious gravy. The portion size was not small but not enormous, my bride was the only one with leftovers. However the coconut cream pie was enormous and amazingly and a true 5! The service was spot on and BYOB. Would highly recommend and return!“

“They gave us the green salsa with our chips, we had to ask for the house/red salsa. Offered a "peach tea", it wasn't peach at all and barely tasted like tea, I took a sip and asked for another drink.....we were billed for the green salsa and the nasty tea.....neither of which we wanted or enjoyed. I have never been to a restaurant that charges you for something you didn't like or ask for. ordered 2 soft chicken tacos....small as a taco bell taco and had a tablespoon or 2 of juice in them.....just runs out all over the place.“

“Too good couldn't take a picture until I was done! Got the chicken quesadilla and it was moist and delicious! Only complaint is it didn't come with salsa on the side! After I ordered I noticed you could add some for 25cents but then the line was too long too get any! It was a huge amount and very filling!“

“Solid little food truck for Mediterranean meals. Essentially everything is made in house (although, I’m not sure about the bread/tortilla/pita). I tried the tandoori chicken wrap as well as a dessert wrap. The tandoori chicken wrap was good. A bit small maybe, but still solid. The chicken itself is nicely spiced; it is definitely flavorful, maybe even a bit too spicy for me. Good texture, well cooked. I asked for mine without lettuce. The tomatoes were juicy and very good as well. There’s nothing really special about the bread. Just average. The sauce was good as well, nice kick. The dessert pita was interesting. It had a lot of nuts, bit of coconut, Nutella, chocolate spread, and maybe a few other things as well. Kind of a random concoction of sweet items in a tortilla. It’s good, and I really liked the Nutella especially. But, a bit odd and the tortilla tasted somewhat stale. All in all, a solid spot. Decent prices, okay portions. Quality halal food that’s made by the owner.Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options for bowls and wraps, desserts as well“

“My second attendance. A great place to start the afternoon. Friendly, polite, hospitable. and endearing. The afternoon patrons are all friends that stop by to pay their respect to each other and the staff. I've received welcoming reception during both visits; literally from all--staff, owners, and patrons. Handshakes, warm embraces, kind words, and thoughtful appreciation for my attendance is always shared. So glad my friend/frat brother invited me. I will go again, again, again, and again!“

“My coworkers and I got lunch here. I believe we got there right when it opened as no one was inside and the cook looked to be finishing up a to go/pick up order. I ordered their mexicano burrito. This was pretty big linda reminiscent of chipotle but obviously much better. It came out pretty quickly too which was nice as we were under a bit of a time crunch.“

“Ordered a Bellevue bowl and a mojitoThe Bellevue bowl was fantastic, and the turnaround time from ordering was only around 5 minutes which was awesome, and I'll definitely be returning either to dine in with friends or pickup a Bellevue bowl for takeout. The mojito on the other hand was pretty weak, in more ways than one. It came out with no mint in it and no minty flavor, and when I asked for some extra mint the waitress (who was excellent) let me know that they used a mojito mix. She did offer to bring me out some extra mix which was kind of her. The drink itself was fairly weak too, and it was served in a pretty skinny highball packed with ice so the drink was gone in 4-5 sips. They really only need fresh mint to make their own mojitos considering they should have rum, simple syrup, and club soda stocked already so it did feel like a cop-out for a $7 cocktail at a Mexican restaurant. At least they have the margaritas down! Just steer clear of the mojito“

“I came here for marvel trivia night and it was fun. I wasn't a big fan of the drink I had, I got one of signature cocktails for the night called the Wanda vision. It was pretty strong, I thought it would be more flavorful but was just kind of bland. The cocktails were 13 each so not a terrible deal. The service was nice, they are pretty warm, and overall it's a fun place to be. It's really pretty inside.“

“After a failed attempt at a neighboring establishment for restaurant week, the staff at Bakersfield really made us feel welcome. Our bartenders Z, and Madison, were attentive and knowledgeable. Hostesses Jess and Jade were also attentive and incredibly polite. Bakersfield has an amazing crew! Thank you!“

“I stopped by here earlier today with my wife for our dinner. Cuddy's Soul Food is located inside of Lawrence Food Hall and if you want more information about that you can check out my review for them. From Cuddy's soul food I ordered a pork soul roll and a steak and cheese soul roll. I started out with the smaller of the two which ended up being the pork roll. It was a bit on the greasy side but the flavor was good. It was very porky and I appreciated the collard greens which cut through the pork and then the sweet potatoes which added a bit of sweetness. Then the steak and cheese roll is what you would expect. Lots of steak and cheese with a hint of peppers which made it a very tasty roll. Then I would I be remiss to not mention the sauce which was sweet and spicy and absolutely delicious. I enjoyed dipping both rolls into it and imagine I would like it on just about anything. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I thought that both of my rolls here were good, albeit greasy, and I would be interested in trying some of their ribs in the future.“

“We came for lunch on Sat, and we grabbed the last table available. There were about four or five tables inside, and a couple outside. You order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. I tried the carne asada tacos. The flavor was great. The meat was slightly chewy, but maybe that's just the cut of meat. Overall we had a great time here. We enjoyed looking at all their mule theme decor. The whole time we were there, we only saw one wait staff. The food came quickly and we were in and out in about 45min.“

“Smoke is my favorite restaurant in Pittsburgh right now. Don’t miss out on the Philly brisket taco, the cabbage taco, and queso with chips. It’s hard to find the perfect combo of affordable homemade food, cool chill atmosphere, and good variety of drinks in Pittsburgh lately… and Smoke does it all!Vegetarian options: Cabbage taco, mushroom taco, queso“

“This was our first time at Steel Mill and we will be going back. We were hosting our friends from NY so we wanted a relaxed atmosphere with a view. The hostess was willing to seat us upstairs to catch the city view. They were accommodating for one in our party that couldn't eat meat with multiple options. The food was so tasty and our waitress was excellent. She was accommodating, friendly, and attentive. Definitely will eat there again.“

“Shorty's has the potential to be a really cool place. After visiting and reading a few reviews, it's clear to me that the problem is the staff. When the staff doesn't care, standards get lowered. On Wesnesday (3/20) around 7:30-8pm when I visited, Shorty's was pretty quiet. Just a few tables. The staff had zero enthusiasm. Our waitress wasn't welcoming, she didn't make chit chat, she never smiled or made eye contact, she didn't talk up the food and drinks. The owners should do an assessment of their staff and retrain or let go the one's that are not contributing to business. Get the right people working there and Shorty's could really thrive. For food we had the Wachos- they were good but they needed to be hotter. The sweet potato mash -delicious. The honey cornbread -too dry, just okay. And the two piece fried chicken -I loved it! Hot, crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. Very flavorful. For drinks -we had the daiquiri on tap and the sangria on tap. They were sweet and very strong. The drinks are more like party bar drinks, not craft beverages.Atmosphere and vibe is cool and like I said, could be much better with the right people working there.Kid-friendliness: My 7-year old had fun. He had the kids grilled cheese and he liked it.“
