Oh boy, where do I start? First off the place smells horrific, the service was terrible with this absolute hag complaining about not getting enough tips next we waited 2 hours to just order and it took an extra 30 minutes to get our food. I ordered chicken tenders with somehow were dry as hell and oily on the outside. The fries were not salted and the chicken was bland. Overall genuinely horrendous

Nostalgia. Grew up off Gouin. Used to be a family haunt for us. When we moved from Montreal to Ottawa....it was the last meal we had. 30 years later, my mom, my partner etc...still take the trip for Smoked Meat. Worth it. Never change!

Excellent milkshakes, thick and creamy.Fries were delicious.*Updated #2 I enjoyed my dinner so much last time I came back this week, I ordered a grilled chicken it was juicy and perfectly cooked, the bun however was overcooked. I also asked for cheese to be added to my chicken burger there was a charge of $3 for 1 piece of cheese. This time the fries were frozen kind, not good at all. Not sure how the fries can change from week to week?? Disappointed cause they were really good last time. Once again the service was great. This restaurant does feel like it's stuck in a time warp, nothing has changed over the years except the prices. Needs an update, and I found it a bit dingy too. Bathrooms are the worst extremely small - broken down - no handicap washroom either.

Terrible food. Worst smoked meat I've ever had. Small portions for the price. The atmosphere is dreary, like the place is stuck in the 80s. Not very clean.

From the outset, my steps towards Chenoy's were marked by concern, fueled by stubborn prejudices towards West Island gastronomy. Moreover, twenty years had passed since I relegated this sullen-looking restaurant, perceived as low-end, to a simple street view. However, the recent praise from a reviewer on a reputable site praising the quality of smoked meat piqued my curiosity, despite my fears sparked by other reviews and high advertised prices. The funny thing is that the concern was shared! In fact, I gave the owners a cold sweat when they saw me… camera in hand. A zealous person who came to take photos and then write a slanderous review left them with a bitter taste. So, a taciturn employee (I know, because he served me) saw me, interrupted his dinner break and reported my activity to one of the owners (or their daughter?) who approached me. Far from reprehensible or outrageous behavior, this resulted in a warm exchange and a history lesson on the restaurant. So I learned several interesting details, such as their choice of music adapted to the age of the customers (this time, luckily, it was around the 70s), the fact that they regularly have new customers ...old, and that at one time, lines of cars formed in front of their doors, because they were one of only three restaurants in the area. Above all, I appreciated the exchange tinged with frankness and humanity with the admission that they sometimes have “bad days” — like everyone else — and that it is enough to speak to them directly to find relief from his troubles. Also, my kind interlocutor mentioned a few times the idea of refreshing the dining room, the old look of which has been preserved. In reality, I find that this gives the place a soul that it would be a shame to sacrifice for the sole frivolous aesthetics of a childish societal fringe in search of attention. Now, you will definitely want to know my impressions of the menu which featured Chinese spaghetti, hamburgers, pizzas and so on. I stuck to the “specialty”, the smoked meat sandwich with golden fries and coleslaw. A more than adequate meal for $27 with tax and tip. We remain in familiar territory with the combination of Heinz mustard and rye bread. Even though it is difficult for me to distinguish them from one place to another, I still had the feeling of having tasted some of the most vibrant flavors. In retrospect, this experience contradicted my initial expectations, revealing a far more charming restaurant than I had imagined. Its American atmosphere, combined with a familiar and generous approach, redefined my perception of this reddish shell on the banks of Saint-Jean.However, I don't know if I will honor the invitation to come with my mother, knowing her preferences. Thanks anyway !Vegetarian options: Um... No, unless maybe you only come for coffee and cheese pizza.Parking: A good twenty places (with the snow it was more difficult to assess)Kid-friendliness: Yes of course. It's good for a family outing.Wheelchair accessibility: No automatic doors, but plenty of space!

The menu has no photos, especially for those who do not speak the language. I asked for a Chinese roll with the Montreal meat .... came full of fat and without flavor !!! In addition to paying 14 dollars for 2 greasy rolls.
