Great service. A decent selection of food and very good coffee. The atmosphere is basic, and not chic, old-city Montreal, but it's good value and a nice cup of coffee. Enjoyed it every time we visited.
Cafe' Van Houtte is one of those places you discover just walking down the street and you are hungry, though in this case thirsty for some coffee or tea. It was an autumn day and a cup of hot Earl Grey tea was calling. The location is fantastic, just slightly to the west of Montreal's Hotel-de-Ville (City Hall), and therefore also close to Place Jacques-Cartier. Are they modifying the name so that the bad reviews of one doesn't reflect on the other?The coffee's not great and the sandwiches aren't either. The prices are outrageous and the bathroom was filthy.
