“The food is excellent, I'm used to Creole restaurants and this one stands out in the area. The atmosphere in the restaurant is great, very nice place. The portions are generous. The only downside is that sometimes they don't respect opening hours, so before ordering on the apps it's always better to check if they are there, at least at lunchtime.“

“I ordered djondjon sticky rice and goat meat for my husband and kalalou and bean puree for me. Both were excellent. I was very happy to see that my husband (a gourmet of his type) enjoyed both meals with an appetite that bordered on gluttony. The space is clean and warm with a Haitian konpa atmosphere. The price is surprisingly affordable. Finally, Saveur 509, an experience to repeat ?“

“A culinary treasure despite a cold welcomeThe Sissi et Paul snack bar is a place offering delicious, generous and affordable Haitian cuisine for takeout, where flavors and textures combine for a cheerful meal. Whether you choose a griot dish or a cabrit fritay, you will have the pleasure of tasting an assortment of tasty accompaniments. The chosen ones of my heart: the soft accras, the crispy kibi and the creamy mac and cheese, three preparations whose tenderness contrasted with the greater firmness of the meat. The reason for this texture escapes me, but it seems that some people find the feeling of firmness more satisfying. Either way, they don't lack taste. One downside: the welcome. After closing its dining room permanently at the start of the pandemic - which I didn't know until I showed up there, forcing my brother to welcome me to his home for dinner - the restaurant probably lost its used to receiving new customers. As soon as the door closed behind me, I was asked to order, without a smile, without ceremony, without an ounce of friendliness.“Have you ordered yet? " " No. » “So, can I take your order?” » “It’s my first visit, I don’t know the menu.” “Ah. »The expeditious and in no way casual treatment quickly put an end to my desire to converse with the cashier. On site, hospitality took the form of a couch covered with cushions pushed against the wall made available to those whose names had not yet been called. I regretted the lack of cheerfulness in terms of the layout and the faces, if only to please new visitors like bibi.Fortunately, the affection shown by Sissi & Paul manifests itself differently, once the meal container is opened at home. We discover this cuisine that I described to you earlier, prepared with knowledge and affection, which makes you want to come back for an encore.Because yes, I got attached to it.Thank you Sisi. Thanks Paul.Vegetarian options: Yes, a “vegetable” plate.Parking: Two-hour limit Monday or Saturday, with restrictions during the week.Kid-friendliness: No meals on site.Wheelchair accessibility: No, unless your chair is equipped with a reactor or propellers like those of a helicopter.“

“Je les ai découvert trop tard. Mais c'est le début du reste de ma vie qui commence. Griot et tassot cabri excellents. Le seul vrai riz djon djon à Montréal? Tout est bon même la salade de macaroni. C'est peut être un peu plus cher mais la qualité est au rendez-vous. Je n'irai plus ailleurs! Bon service rapide et environnement ultra propre.“

“Valid!!I had the chicken and griyo dishes, both meats were great! The bananas are sweet, more like allocos or Jamaican plantains than the weighed bananas that we usually see among Haitians. Personally I find it better that way (sweet). The sticky rice had great flavor too.Only negative point, the macaroni salad is too sweet and too much mayo. It would be nice to add the green salad option on doordash!“

“The Griot was sexy. I eat this once in a while so when it’s delicious, it’s a win. The mac salad was yummy, fresh and creamy. The rice was hot and average in taste. The plantain was a little dry( not a deal breaker), The Pikliz was good but the red sauce was bland and oily. I added a little salt and it was tasty.“

“Marabou: A Taste of Créole DelightFor our recent experience at Marabou, we opted for the Tassot boeuf priced at $18, accompanied by the refreshing Kola Champagne for just $2.Although the restaurant has recently reopened its dining room, we savored our meal from the comfort of our own home. Nevertheless, I must mention that the cozy dining area, with its handful of tables for four, would have been a good option too. While the interior could benefit from a bit of tender loving care, the tantalizing aromas of home cooking engulf the space, captivating the senses. The friendly staff swiftly prepared our order, and we were delighted to find that the portions are still generously sized, easily satisfying two people. The exceptional value for money truly stood out.Having been a regular patron of Marabou for quite some time, I can confidently say that it never disappoints. If you find yourself craving the rich and flavorful Créole cuisine, a visit to Marabou is a must.“
