“The food was incredible. We had the cod croquette, maguro don, duck mazemen and pudding with a bit of sake. Everything was delicious, better than any croquette, duck or tuna we've ever had before. I just can't possibly emphasize enough how much I recommend it.The atmosphere was nice, pretty chill, the tables were quite close to each other but it's pretty common in such restaurants. No loud music which we really appreciated. The service was nice although they lacked professionalism. For example, they'll let you wait more than 10min (without apologizing for the wait) if you're polite and wait in the entrance to get seated, even if they saw you. I learnt from the people who came after us that you have to come in & stand in the middle of the way, only then will they happily seat you right away..“

“A friend recommended this cosy awesome restaurant and today, I was passing by and decided to discover LeDon Donburi. Honestly the appetizer and main dish was delicious. The desert was succulent, I practically licked the bowl clean… actually a client was sitting nearby and said to me: “you know we all lick the bowl”. LOL The owner behind the counter is quite cool and has great conversation. Next time, I come out of the country, I’ll stop by again and hang out. I think they are open 4 pm till 10 pm, 5 days a week… reasonable hours, means for a business owner like myself, who comes to town every now and then. I’ll have time to come back and eat a great meal after my errands, before heading up home up north. It’s lovely to eat well till 10 pm! :-) Even the customers are cool! Thanks to the whole LeDon Donburi crew, I’ll be back!“

“Bel endroit, excellent service, découvertes culinaires à découvrir. Personnellement, ce ne fût pas un coup de coeur, les sushis ont trop de saveurs étranges, pas assez asiatique à mon goût. Le cari, les tomates séchés, le pesto.. pas dans des sushis !“

“The food is very good and delicious and we will come back. The mushroom poké is delicious and the sushi tasty. A gluten-free menu can be requested which prevents you from worrying about what you can or cannot eat. A little word to help you improve: A little spring cleaning would be welcome in the toilets which clash with the rest of the place...“

“Great experience, calm atmosphere and it feels good!I really liked the eggplant as a starter, the hamachi sashimi (which I always have a weakness for) and we tried the shabushabu! It was not bad :)We also tried the mini sukiyaki, quite good, the vegetable tempura, good but nothing more, and the tempura udon which I liked less. The skewers are very good, and the mackerel was not bad“

“This place is a bit of a hidden gem, tucked away in an underground food court. They serve up a great selection of Japanese comfort foods at an affordable price point.I had a gyudon from here and while it was nothing too special from a flavour perspective, it was exactly what I wanted from a gyudon at a price point that is tough to find nowadays. The service was friendly and the food came quick. The only thing to note is to make sure you have cash as they are a cash only store.“

“Really good food. The flavours aren’t particularly strong/mind-blowing, but just good food. It’s a veryyy charming atmosphere. We could get 2 seats at 12pm on a Thursday. Given the small space, I wouldn’t recommend trying to go with more than 3 people. The cabbage-egg pancake was very filling (we split between 2 people). With the soup and one side, it was lots of food.“

“Wow, I discovered your restaurant almost 6 years ago and we love it.The service is impeccable and the quality is incredible. This is the best restaurant in terms of quality-price ratio that we have tried in Montérégie, and we have tried several. It's really a must, especially for the all-you-can-eat formula! There are never any errors in the orders and the atmosphere is warm.Keep up the great work in terms of service and team!“

“Had the head chef prepare a dinner for two based on their speciality. Being from Toronto and trying all the different Japanese restaurants there, his selection of speciality dishes was beyond my expectations. Great experience and great quality food. One of the best Japanese restaurants I've tried in Montreal.“

“So delicious! I came here with my boyfriend to celebrate his birthday and eat some izakaya. We had an amazing time! We ordered the tuna tataki, and beef with fermented cabbage. We also got these delicious evil bao buns (one of their spring specials) and takoyaki. The cocktails are delicious too! Overall a fantastic experience I will definitely be back!“

“The seafood was incredibly fresh, the presentation of all dishes beautiful and our server, Yin, was helpful and attentive. Our daughter has a peanut allergy and she was really great about going over ingredients with us. It was a great place to grab a quieter (maybe not well know, YET) dinner and still have fabulous food.“

“I ordered a bubletea, 1 taro and 1 matcha. Milk was very good and tasty, matcha was mixed well, (I pay attention to this because in other restaurants I've had situations when matcha wasn't mixed well and I caused bad taste at the end), BUT tapioka wasnt soft enough, probably they didnt cook it enough time, i hope next time they pay more attention to this.“

“I loved the magical moody Japanese vibe of this cocktail bar located discreetly on Cathcart Street in downtown Montreal. Note 12$ underground parking i conveniently located next door! I loved my experience here, service at times was a little slow, but while you wait you absorb the cool vibe all around you so it makes up for it! Staff was friendly and the cocktails are cool! It’ an all about the VIBE at Gokudo so I highly recommend visiting this place. Put it on your list of must visit spots in Montreal. Thank you to the staff at Gokudo for making my bday memorable.“

“WOW GREAT DISCOVERY!!We are quite picky and often when we try new places for our sushi we are very disappointed, this was not the case with Ryo Sushi.Very nice chef's choice platter even if ordered late at the start of the week. The sushi was all very different with beautiful flavors, a good quantity of fresh fish and a variety really good for the price. The rice/fish ratio was perfect++Not the big rice sushi type with a pinch of fresh fishWe will definitely be placing more orders!Great discovery“

We went on Saturday Night, Wilson the server was great, he recommended best dishes on the menu, and his service was top of the line. We sat in the lounge area, amazing decor and ambient. We will come back again!“

“I stumbled upon this sushi gem recently, and I can't stop raving about it! This place has quickly become my go-to spot for delicious sushi in town. The food here is incredibly fresh, and each bite is bursting with flavor. Whether you're a sushi aficionado or just looking for a tasty meal, this place won't disappoint. One of the things that really stands out about this sushi shop is the value for money. Despite the top-notch quality of their ingredients, the prices here are very reasonable. You get a lot of bang for your buck, which is always a plus.In addition to their dine-in experience, they also offer catering services, which I've had the pleasure of trying at a corporate event. The sushi platters were a hit among everyone, and it added a special touch to the occasion. So whether you're hosting a corporate gathering or a special event, this place has you covered. What's more, I find myself frequenting this spot regularly for weekday lunches. Whether I dine in or grab takeout, the experience is always consistent and satisfying. It's become a highlight of my week!Overall, I can't recommend this sushi spot enough. From the freshness of the food to the affordability and excellent catering options, it's a winner in my book. If you're in the mood for some top-quality sushi, look no further than this place!“

“First time visit in this new Japanese restaurant that was strongly recommended by friends. I have to say that we had a great evening, the food was terrific. We were suggested to try sampling a dozen of various entrees tapas style hot and cold. I also had sake, Hakutsuru - Junmai. The service was very good and we were able to get last minute seating on the terrace. “Excellent sushi, it's emotions in every bite, but you shouldn't count on the HYPER LONG service you have time to no longer be hungry between sushi courses.Very cold and not warm, it was much better before, beer barrels with trays of dirty dishes in the middle of the room, work table with glasses and stuff within reach, only 1 server for all the tables...“

“Went there because it was on my list from @l'epicerie. It is a great TV show you should watch and it did not disappoint. The young lady who does the onigiri was featured, and I had a chance to meet her. My food was wonderful, and the ginger latte will definitely give you a boost!“

“I went to get takeaway sushi and the service when I arrived was not at all up to par: I was told that it would take a good 30 minutes before it was ready (it took 10 minutes) , I was not given the menu, I was left to fend for myself until the female waitress came to help me. Taste-wise, sushi is no longer as good as it used to be. The salmon in some rolls tasted very strong and in sashimi tasted good.“

“The best sushi place I've ever tried, they have the cheapest sushi I've ever seen and it's somehow also the best tasting. Cali La for only 5.95$ for 8 Maki (medium sized) that's an amazing price. The Pacific's blew my mind when I first tried them, they were by far the best sushi I've had period.“

“From the moment we stepped into Restaurant Makoto, we were greeted by the warm ambiance that promised a memorable dining experience. The starters set the stage for the culinary delights that followed. The Pajeon was a crispy, savory pancake that was a perfect blend of flavors and textures, while the Takoyaki was a delightful treat, with its tender octopus filling encased in a light and fluffy batter. The main course was a generous display of the restaurant's commitment to both quality and quantity. The Chicken Katsu was a standout, with its perfectly crispy exterior and succulent interior, accompanied by a hearty portion of steamed rice, fresh vegetables, and two delectable gyozas. But the star of the evening was undoubtedly the Chicken Okonomiyaki. This Japanese savory pancake was not only huge in size but also in flavor. Each bite was a mix of tender chicken and a rich, complex array of seasonings that made it extremely flavorful. In conclusion, Restaurant Makoto in Montreal is a gem that offers an authentic taste of Japanese cuisine. The dishes we tried were not only delicious but also presented with care, making our dining experience truly exceptional. We left with our appetites fully satisfied and our taste buds tantalized, eagerly anticipating our next visit.“

“First time visiting the restaurant, I really like it. It’s small, but don’t let the small place fools you. The food is amazing, their sushis are fresh. Their vegetables are also fresh, and their sashimi is the best. I find it that their fishes are fresh and you can still taste the freshness of the fish itself. You should also try their unique tea, Genmaicha green tea with roasted brown rice japanese tea. This place is also only 2 minutes walk from metro jean-talon, which is really nice for people that want to visit the restaurant on the winter.“

“Really good value, one of the best in the plateau. High quality fish, and tasty rolls - I use avocado rolls as a gauge of how good a takeout sushi place is, and this one is not only cheaper than usual (3.50) but also a very solid offering. Much better than the other sushi places in the area.“

“What an unassuming little joint that happens to be dishing out some top-shelf sushi and sashimi! The sashimi came in super thick and unctuous slabs. The spicy tuna roll was awesome and actually spicy (and cheap!). The scallops were super fresh and buttery and tender and beautiful. We enjoyed everything and left with full bellies at 11pm.We dined in and took the only table they had. They were super busy with takeout orders but still took care of us promptly. They were super nice!“

“We really appreciated it, pleasant service, without really any communication but ok for us. The idea of mini portions is absolutely perfect to avoid waste and be able to taste several things. The products are very fresh. Favorite for sashimi and carpaccio. A few dishes with too much sauce: tartare, peanut dumpling and udon noodle but very good nonetheless. Disappointment when we left when we noticed that the tip offered was three choices beyond 18%. This tactic displeased me for its lack of ethics and benevolence. At least I was able to select the tip manually, the one that seemed fairest to me. We will definitely return anyway.“
