If you haven't set foot in Nelligan since the new owners took possession, you're going to take a break. First of all, we had the bad idea of installing a floor over the bar, thus transforming the airy and bright space into a dark and cramped place. The barrel-style tables now give way to roped tables, very close to each other. Exit the friendly staff, they have all left the ship. The excellent selection of micro-breweries has been replaced... by Molson products. As far as I'm concerned, but in my humble opinion the place has lost its soul. It was my favorite neighborhood bar and I will never set foot there again.

Do not go here. When my buddy and I discovered this place a few months ago, it was alright, except for the fact that the bartender berated us into giving a bigger tip (we had already given 12% and put another 20$ in the fuzzball). Strike one. Then recently we went back trying to get a Guinness, in those 4 months, the price had risen 1.50$ putting the 2 Guinness and tip to 25$. Strike two. This time we went when the place wasnt full, maybe 60% and as my friend and I went to sit at a table, the staff told us we couldn't sit there and that we needed to find a 2person table, not the 4person table we chose. Over the 90min we spent there, no one sat at those tables and it didn't get any busier. Strike three. In summary, the staff were rude and kept asking for more money, the price of their drinks are far from competitive, and the recent renovation that lowered the ceiling has reduced the atmosphere significantly. If you're looking for a decent Irish pub in Quebec city, there are better choices. The Bar Saint Mathews is just up the hill 20 seconds and is a much better choice. It's a shame that Nelligan's turned out to be so disappointing.

The service is friendly. The choice of beer is limited. The whiskey menu is limited, but I was still able to order a Laphroaig.

Fek, we went there with Annie the first time and we went to join her boyfriend who was coming back from a scotch evening at the SAQ with his work colleagues, who had accompanied him that evening, to the Nelligan, so Eric is either a really good Jack or his colleagues are into French-Canadian poetry and decided to accompany him to this place to remember their Quebec literature classes at CEGEP. I remember that the girl who served us our beers that evening had armadillos. Tk. Eric had to be a good jack, Annie got pregnant, the pandemic arrived and I ended up returning to Nelligan only a few years later this time with Marie-Hélène, when the return to the office became a reality. The girl with the armadillos was still there, and I, well, uh, I ordered a beer, Marie ordered a cider, and we loved our experience so much that we've been back about 39 times since. The place is really cool, the choice of beer is often pretty decent, there are Japanese whiskeys on the slate, and Marie doesn't seem to complain too much about the choice of ciders (as long as there aren't too many sulphites or stones in it, too sure). Also, there's a waitress we really liked who we haven't seen in a while, the girl with the tattoos we haven't seen in a while, but the guy the other day was really nice and he seemed to really know his Miss Vickys. Tk, as my friend George (Harrison) said in 1970, "All things must pass", and that's it, it's really cool to go there, even if time passes, things change, worse than pain of yesterday give way to forgetting, indifference and the indifference of forgetting (well, now I'm thinking of getting another one to forget what I just said, the depth of reflection can sometimes hurt me and invite me to forget). With that, I went and ordered another pint (I was going for that in the last parenthesis, well it's not too much of a surprise here) or sat down to play with the dog that two regulars brought with them every week that comes and passes.PS. Julie came the other time and she really liked it, but she was careful about her number of drinks as Louis didn't want to come pick her up. Next time, we're going to invite you too Louis, hoping that you're a good jack like Eric (otherwise you buy me my beer).

Lots of changes recently. Music is really too loud and not in the same style as before. All the staff has changed and the general functioning of the bar seems to have changed too. Not a bad place, but if you are regulars you will definitely be disappointed.

I'm not enough of a poet, like Philippe Mathieu, but here's my opinion ?Super nice welcome and serviceWe drank some excellent beers even though this place seems more of a whiskey temple. There are some kinds of cheese toasties (I can't eat cheese so I can't give a detailed opinion) accompanied by crisps to stop the absorption of the drinks.I am very tempted to go back even if I only stay 3 days in Quebec and there are certainly other nice places to see
