This restaurant has been “on vacation” since July 14th. This “vacation” coincides with the town revoking their liquor license. Others have made reservations online only to arrive to a closed restaurant.

This restaurant remains closed as of early August, even though neither their website nor their reservation system indicates that. We made a reservation on Open Table, got an email confirmation, and arrived to find them closed. It appears they were due to reopen after vacation in mid-July, but have not.

We've tried to dine here 3 times. The most recent was the last. We successfully made a reservation on Open Table - got a confirmation and all - only to arrive and find they are closed for vacation! If you can't figure out how to make sure the internet correctly reflects the fact they you're closed, maybe you're not up to running a 21st century restaurant.

Despite booking an 8:00 PM reservation we found the the place was closed when we arrived. Confirmed with the vendor next door that it was not open all day. Is there no communication with the restaurant and Open Table? Left us out cold with no dinner.
They took a reservation on Saturday night and when we got there they were closed for vacation. We had nowhere else to eat since we were vacationing and everywhere was booked. So upsetting and ruined our evening. Rude and bas customer service.

What a well-kept secret! Drinks are amazing. The Mai Tai was boozy and not too sweet and Juniper Rising was like velvet. I'm a Southern pimento cheese snob and theirs gets an NC stamp of approval--sharp and smokey. The RI calamari was lightly breaded with a rich marinara. Finished off with the schnitzel, which rivals any I had in Germany or Austria. Paired with garlic potatoes, it melted down. The food quality was equally matched by service and atmosphere with quaint outdoor tables with water views and heat lamps for cool New England nights. New favorite on the East Bay!!

We had a large party that arrived before the restaurant got crowded. The food was okay but there was nothing that was a stand out dish. The service was overwhelmed and we asked for water 3 separate times after sitting for an hour. If you go, I suggest a small party of two rather than a group. There are a lot of fried options but most were not properly cooked (schnitzel and fried chicken). We liked the calamari but on the whole I think we won't be returning.

They had a vegetarian dish on the menu but they changed it and it was not good butternut squash with spinach but there was not much else to choose from how can you take mushrooms with pasta off the menu It is not like mushrooms are a seasonal veggie Very limited menu
We arrived at our reserved time and ordered our meal at 6:00 PM. Within ten minutes we got our stuffies. On the other hand, we had to wait 45 minutes plus for our entrees. That was unacceptable. I had ordered shrimp scampi and my partner ordered a hamburger and the restaurant wasn't really busy yet. I told the bartender that we had a reservation at another restaurant for drinks and had to walk there since Bristol was mobbed and there were few parking places. By now it was 6:45 and our reservation was for 7:15.The bartender said she didn't know we were in a hurry! Usually restaurants want you in and out as they make money from quick turnover. She offered to cancel the order which we accepted, so kudos for that! I hated to cancel like that, but we've ever had to wait so long for a meal! The food was good but the wait was too much!

We had a great night at a special place. The flavors were fresh and interesting. The service was exceptional! It was a perfect evening to be outside in Bristol. They welcomed our husky and were so kind. We will be back, for sure.

As a first time visitor to Bristol RI, my choice to dine at the Statesman Tavern was the right one. The ambiance, attentive service, food and excellent beverage offerings were all fabulous. Told my wife about the place and she and I will surely dine there again in the future when we both visit Bristol together. Craig Clausen
