“My third stop on the RI Food Fights trail brought me to OZ Tacos and Tequila. And after the day I had today at the office ...tequila was needed. It's a bustling Friday night, but I was able to find a seat at the bar. After a few moments I was brought a menu and I immediately ordered the house margarita. It came quickly, strong, tart and a little sweet. For the fight, you get your choice of two tacos, minus the lobster esquites. They have quite the creative combinations but I went with two Mojo Pork. You don't have to do two of the same but I chose to. As I waited for my food, I noted the decor. Oz is aptly named, it has a Wizard of Oz theme...if it was located in a Mexican cantina in the 60s. Andy Warhol style art, grass walls, an extensive tequila selection and Nancy Sinatra singing about her boots give a chaotic vibe in the mostly complementary way possible. I loved it. My tacos arrived and after quickly getting my pictures out of the way, I squeezed my lime and dug in. Holy moly was it good. Succulent roasted pork tenderly shredded with the tangy sweetness of the tamarind glaze juxtaposed against the heat from the cherry peppers delights the taste buds. Then the herbaceous cilantro cuts through to lift and brighten the taco to a truly delicious experience. I am so glad I got two of them because one wasn't enough. My only regret is I didn't realize one taco had four slices of cherry pepper and the other only had one. I would have distributed the peppers accordingly but the one slice was big enough that I could stretch it across the whole taco and enjoy it just as much as the first one. I was still hungry after the tacos so I ordered a side of the Mexican Street Corn (served off the cob) and a side of chips. Now, a lot of times when people say Mexican Street Corn off the cob it's just esquites and they use an Americanized term for marketability. In this case, this was like they made an elote and then cut it off the cob into the bowl. Salty, cojita cheesy and tangy with the extra lime, it hit the spot with some chips. They have the thicker style tortilla chips, great for holding fat bites of corn! You could see the clusters of kernels confirming freshly shelled corn. I ended up taking the rest home to enjoy another time. With my time here at an end I left full and happy I found another tasty spot to visit again.”

“The service is fantastic and the food is delicious. I’m in love with the chicken and waffles! Topped with hot honey is spot on. But it’s the smiling faces and warmth that keep me coming back. Although a big old breaded and fried piece of chicken and scrumptious waffle doesn’t hurt the case. 🫶”

“What a delicious breakfast I received today. I ordered the everything omelette and it was a large portion, and quite delicious. It’s been a long time since I was able to return since they moved from their old location. The staff was extremely friendly and service was fast. I will definitely be back and highly recommend!”

“Don't ever order a sweet and sour chicken combination plate because you have to pay for the boneless chicken, fried rice, and egg roll and then you have to pay $2.50 extra for the sweet and sour sauce to go with it! Are You Serious??!! Then you order something to go and they charge you for the fuc*ing container!!! NEVER AGAIN! They got elementary school aged children seating patrons... Isnt there a Child Labor Law??? No wonder why theres never anyone in there anymore..... Back To Mon Kou for us!!!”

“This has been my husband and I’s go to place for the last few years. Over the last couple of months we have noticed a decline in portions. While we understand that prices are higher for food, you really shouldn’t bump down in quality, just raise the price if you need to. People may not noice a slight uptick in price but definitely notice the portion size. My husband always favors a whole belly clam and scallops plate and last night he was served that combo with only two whole bellies, the rest were just batter pieces and four scallops that were overcooked , it was so disappointing. My surf and turf was downsized from three baked stuffed shrimp down to two and the prime rib was much smaller. While we could have said something, it should have been noticed before it left the kitchen! We are not people to complain and the staff is always great but I guess my point is, we noticed and may think twice before returning and that saddens us.”

“By far the best coffee shop I’ve found. The eggnog latte was - words cannot describe it. I’d marry it. I’d drink it year round. The lavender honey is also amazing. The people are as fabulous as the coffee, if that’s possible. ☕️❤️”

“Fundati is by FAR the best coffee spot in the area maybe all of Rhode Island. Coffee is extremely fresh and the staff is just as fresh. Positivity and a little caffeine kick will JUMPSTART your day. If I see someone drinking anything other than fundati I always recommend this place. 💗💗🔥🔥🔥👍”

“We were in town from SC staying at the casino and stopped in to eat breakfast and it was so amazing we came back the next day. Some of the best muffins, hash, eggs Benedict, potatoes, and Western omelet sandwich that I have ever had. Courtney was our waitress and I let her choose my meals and they did not disappoint! She also remembered our orders and was so polite. I would fly back up there just to eat at Shanna's again!”

“If you're wondering, like I was, if this location really exists in the belly of a casino, I can tell you that as of May 2025 it really does and it's just as amazing as I always remembered. It's the only one this far north in New England. If the owner or corporate hq dudes at Nathan's are reading this - please get a location or two somewhere around Boston. When the one in Quincy closed I was heartbroken. I took a subway, commuter rail and a bus to get here and back but was worth the 6 hour trip. Kinda odd that it's in a casino. The fries are the best and the little corndogs were cooked perfectly. The lemonade is legit too. Now I'm going to go take a nap when I get home.”

“The store looks like it's been recently modernized which Subway's new graphics and looks. Everything looks fresh and clean with new food choices. I found what I wanted on Subway's website, I held my phone up and said make this. Very well done and tasty. The employees were quick and made the sandwiches right. Indoor seating and a public restroom are available.”

“Absolutely Fresh Tasting Frozen yogurt flavors , nice and cold. Very happy with toppings and Whipped Cream (remebervto ask before paing) is real. Personnel at pegister (was he the owner?) Had a good sense of humor.”

“To be honest, I was having a pretty bad day. Spent the day running errands and driving my son to appointments while recovering from a weekend flu. I was exhausted and miserable. Since contractors were rebuilding my kitchen (another story), my wife thought it might be nice to go to dinner. Sure, why not?

We chose Chili's. My wife and son loved their meals. I had an unfortunate occurrence - my food wasn't prepared properly, and I was put off my appetite. Honestly, I know things happen, but I had seen this particular error only in 1940s Looney Tunes cartoons.

When I pointed it out, my server was very apologetic and swept the offending dish away. In about 30 seconds the manager on duty came over to apologize. He took ownership of the situation and offered to personally cook me a new meal as he previously worked as a cook. I thanked him but assured him it was OK.

I know that what I described is SOP for any eatery, but after the day I had, I really appreciated the gesture. He was sincere. That saved the dining experience. My only regret is I didn't ask his name, so I could properly praise him in this post.
