I was really craving some clam chowder, but didn't want to go to busy over priced establishment. This chowder was amazing for $5 for a cup. Also got a pastrami sandwich and an ice cold IPA. Wasn't too busy for a Wednesday, so hit this place up if you're want int good food and service that won't break the bank.

It's a locals bar. Kim the bartender was a lot of fun(while very busy). They have a large menu and daily specials. The food is always good.

Big Dawg's is a perfect neighborhood bar and grill. I have been here three times, each while in town for work, and wish there was a place like this where I live. The patrons around the long oval bar are friendly - you will feel like a regular. The food and the bartending excel. E.g., their lobster roll is about half the price as other places I have been in the area, but dramatically better. The fish and chips are also noteworthy, and I am pretty sure they are made with Atlantic Cod, much better than the more common P Cod. I have had a dirty martini and a prefect rye Manhattan here, and each as well made as I've had at say the Carlyle Hotel, or Keens, in Manhattan. I am looking forward to going again on my next trip to Newport.

Went last night (11/18/23) to Scotty's Big Dawg to grab a sandwich to go. Walked in and it was packed with people for a 70th Birthday party. Someone came up and said they were open still to the public. We took a seat at the front of bar. After a few minutes asked for menus. Maybe 10 min later drink order was taken. And that was it...Totally ignored. Waved one of the girls over after maybe 15 min and she yelled something about she couldn't and her register. We saw many people paying for their drinks. Finally snagged another girl behind the bar and asked how much hubby's beer was, paid for it and left. So disappointed in the service last night. We were there for approximately 30 minutes and completely ignored. I know they were busy with the party but is all we wanted was food to go. If they were too busy to make food they should have said so. I gave 4 stars for the food because it is good but service SUCKED!

Ran into a bunch of old friends. The lady with the "therapy dog" needs to keep it on a leash!
