Hands down best donuts I have ever had! They are homemade warm and just big enough to have two! My favorite food is donuts so I know a good donut when I taste one.

I don’t even like donuts. When I get coffee on the mainland, I’m never tempted by donuts. But these donuts are different— not to be missed!

Good donuts with ducks to look at too. Can't go wrong.

Nothing special- ok doughnuts and weak coffee. The workers were a little rude too.

Thank goodness we were staying only a couple of blocks away at the Barrington Inn, because once we tried these, we had to have them every morning for breakfast. HAD TO. When it's busy, there's a line, but it's worth the wait: They're warm out of the oven.

Payne's has been on Block Island since 1963. I'm always a little skeptical of dining establishments that are highly touted in very touristy areas as I've found that nostalgia and limited options can lead to dangerous rating inflation. I'm glad to report that there's no such inflation here at Payne's. The doughnuts are as good as mentioned in other reviews. In a tourist area particularly rife with mediocre food, Payne's stands out even more for their doughnuts. They're served warm. They're so pillowy and soft that yours truly took a bite and half of one of her doughnuts fell on the ground (they were nice enough to replace the doughnut). The doughnuts come in plain, sugar or cinnamon sugar. The sugar and cinnamon sugar add a very pleasant crunch that only heightens this amazing textural experience. I like how Scott M. had said Payne's is his favorite part of BI. I love that-and I agree. Payne's is approximately 1 mile away from the Block Island Ferry stop. It's a little bit of a hike on foot but so worth it. Those doughnuts truly feel like a vacation treat.

Nice place to stop by if you're riding a bike and need a quick snap. The donuts are baked fresh, and are quite soft. They could use a little more dusting of powdered/sugar, but overall a quality donut

Friendly staff and simply incredible old fashioned style donuts. All 3 types are amazing. A Block Island must.

Some of the best damn donuts I've ever had. Reasonably priced and fresh everytime. Never a bad experience.
best donuts in New England hands down!
Hot and fresh. Lotsa kids on sugar buzz. A tradition on block island. I like the cinnamon ones.
Cinnamon + Sugar. Wow it was still warm and fluffy. I could eat a dozen to myself ?Seriously though. Highly suggest a stop!
KILLER donuts!!! Well worth the wait. Can't make up my mind on which one is the best. Plain, cinnamon or sugar. Do what I did and get one of each.
