We had been going to Duffy’s for years and unfortunately the pandemic must have been to much for them. It appears they are no longer open for busses. They had the best seafood, always fresh and delicious. The portions were always generous, and when you left you were always full. They also had the coldest draft beer around, we would stop by in the summer just for a cold beer and we live about 40” away. The bartender and wait staff were great, always friendly and were right there to fill your glass. We always felt right at home! I don’t know if they ever plan to reopen again. We drove by recently and didn’t see any For Sale signs on the property so we are hoping one day to see them open again. You will be missed!

No matter where I am, Duffy's Tavern always has my vote for the best baked cod served anywhere

Chowder was delicious, lobster was fresh, waiter and staff were knowledgeable and professional. Damn COVID-19 is keeping from returning.

Great, last of the local hangouts. Don't forget to wear your bass fisherman hat so you'll fit in.

Food was very good for a “pub” style joint. You get a lot for your money and the owner “Stu” is very nice and funny.

My husband and I arrived for dinner, just as we were about to sit down the bartender/server asked us to leave due to the fact that she was alone tonight and “could not keep up.” This was before 6:30 pm on a Sunday night. While it was “steady” it didn’t seem like it was a situation that could not be handled. This was my first and last time here. She was also quite rude in describing her situation to us. The bar was full, but every guest was taken care of. There were only two other tables and they had been helped as well.

I decided to try something new tonight so I pulled into Duffy's Tavern I was alone so I thought I'd eat in the bar area it was not really busy I walked in and took a seat in a booth 15 minutes later nobody had come by the table to see if I wanted anything. The bar seems to be set up for the benefit of the locals and the regulars I probably won't go back again

I decided to give this place a try after my Sunday night regular spot was closed for renovations. As I was alone I decided to eat in the bar area I walked in and sat down and patiently waited for 15 minutes for anybody to acknowledge the fact that I was there. The bar was not busy yet the bartender seemed overwhelmed. I left after sitting there for 15 minutes watching TV because I could do that at home. I will say the bartender was very attentive to the regulars but in 15 minutes I couldn’t even make eye contact with her. I probably won’t go back again if I want to be ignored I could stay home.

Although I have lived in Rhode Island for 50 years, I was born in San Francisco, and have for many years had a longing for Dungeness Crab. This crab does not travel well (unlike King ), and after a number of disappointments, I gave up. I looked up "Dungeness Crab RI" and found only one place--Duffy's Tavern in NK. With some trepidation, I went up yesterday for dinner, which is the only time DC was served. Duffy's is not, ah, for tourists. There was no table service; you had to order from the bar. The Swamp Yankee accents were so thick that a visitah would have a hard time. Sure enough, DC was on the menu. The wait staff were outrageously overworked, but cheerful and helpful. Good beer and wine list. I could see on the opposite wall, a giant poster of Ted Williams. So,how was the crab? Well if you had never had fresh Dungeness in SF, you would say the sample I received was an excellent crab--but you would not mistake it for fresh West Coast. Dungeness has a sweetness, and sadly, this one didn't have it. Please don't mistake my comment; it was a fine crab, as good as anything you normally would find in South County. But a Honda Civic can go 60 miles an hour, just like a Ferrari can--but that's the point where they stop being equal. So, would I go back to Duffy's, after I hadn't been there for almost 30 years? Sure, in a minute. It is something that is vanishing with the speed of light; a genuine South County joint, where you might go 10 minutes before hearing an "r".

We were there to celebrate my daughter’s 21st birthday. We had quahogs, steamers, lobster and sides. Everything was delicious. The server was not only professional, but she was also very sweet and kind. Her name was Ellie.

While visiting friends over Christmas, we stopped in at Duffy’s as they wanted for me to experience real New England seafood especially the chowder. I greatly enjoyed the entire experience! I ordered corn chowder with shrimp and scallops and clam cakes on the side. The serving was huge and delicious! I also had a great time visiting with the owner, Stu. What a fascinating character! I learned a great deal about local seafood and the area. A truly wonderful experience.

So Duffy's Tavern is an old hole in the wall joint with a colorful history. The restaurant is fun, the drinks fair. But the seafood is the reason I go here whenever I am in town. Fair prices, fresh catches, decent portions. RI style chowder (a clear broth), stuffies and clamcakes are a must. Wash it down with Narragansett beer. Want lobster, crab, or any other nunber of seafood delights? Duffy's delivers. Sure parts are older (the tavern). Sometimes they are understaffed but if you are willing to ignore the clock you won't be disappointed.

Delicious fresh seafood. Fish and crab legs were excellent. Our waitress was wonderful. First time there but not my last.
