Decided to stop in for lunch at this diner I’m always excited to try a local diner because everyone is always so friendly…… boy was I wrong I’ve never felt so uncomfortable in a restaurant in my life. First off it was around 1230 so me and my colleagues decided to get lunch instead of breakfast we didn’t know that was going to be such an inconvenience for the cook and staff as soon as we put our orders in the cook was swearing and rolling her eyes and all you heard her was yelling in the back about why we would order lunch. I’m sorry mam but 1230 is lunch time. And the waiter was just laughing because I guess in their world disrespecting a paying customer is “funny”. When we finally got our meal I couldn’t even eat it the burgers were gray I can only imagine how old they were, I wouldn’t feed it to my dog in fear of her getting sick. Then when it came time to pay the waiter told us you guys better tip me, meanwhile we heard him talking to the cook about how black people don’t tip. But my favorite part about this whole experience is that the cook or owner decided to tell us how when she wakes up she starts drinking and she drinks while she’s cooking all day tequila or vodka excessively it doesn’t matter. I just thought it was very odd for the cook or owner to tell us that right after they cooked our food Overall I’ve never had a worse experience and I highly recommend anyone to stay as far away from this establishment as they can. 1 Star is way to many I wish I could give negative stars

Establishment is overall dirty, and has racist employees. Asking for a tip after making racist remarks about other black customers from the past. Service was trash. Staff were arguing amongst themselves when I first walked in! Do not go here.

Think of all the omelets you have been served. When was the last time you took a bite and said, "Wow. Amazing flavor!"? Even the plain grilled spinach side was a revelation. I don't know when I have ever gotten so much marvelous flavor out of a diner lunch. Completely reset my expectations. And the service was fast, friendly, efficient, projecting the vibe of actually caring about you. Absolutely the place to go back to when looking for the diner experience.

Located in the heart of Wayland Square, Wayland Square Diner is a quintessential American diner experience. There's the classic high top counter with stools and roughly 10 booths around the perimeter of the restaurant. There's not a ton of space, but they use every inch of what they have to their advantage. The food itself is classic American breakfast and lunch fare. On this particular occasion I got the Wayland Square Special Omelet with ham, mushrooms and onions with homefries, and toast. The food was well executed and I didn't have any particular complaints. The service is great. We visited on a busy morning, with the entire place packed, and it was all being managed by one woman! It appears she's been doing this for a while and it showed! Kudos to her and the entire kitchen staff for getting our food out in a timely manner during the morning rush. If you're looking for well executed diner classics at a fantastic value for breakfast or lunch, this is a wonderful choice in a prime location.

This feels like a pretty classic diner experience. It's not heavily staffed, so I've noticed the waitress there tends to be a little stressed, but I feel like they're really fast with the food. There's a lot of booths and a counter space. It's not a huge restaurant, but at peak times they can fit a lot of people. They do a good job with sweet and savory foods. I most recently enjoyed a Belgian waffle with blueberry and walnut topping. It was tasty, and the blueberries were surprisingly good for December. I think this is one of the best places to balance cost and quality in Wayland Square, especially if you're not looking for anything too fancy.

Our family went for an early breakfast and we had a great experience. WD is a relaxed, cozy, neighborhood diner. We ordered both sweet and savory items - egg white Greek scrambler, sausage, eggs over easy, vegetarian omelet and cinnamon apple pancakes. Everything was cooked perfectly and the portions were generous. The staff was friendly and helpful - it was a great way to start the day!

This was my first time here since the change from Ruffuls, which I have fond memories of. I had been a loyal customer since 1985. The restaurant was extremely understaffed and there was a long wait to have our order taken and served. The food was bland and unremarkable, almost ruining my childhood memories of Ruffels. There are no old-time specials (I.e., chicken pot pie, american chop suey, ect.) which is disappointing as well.

Food is delish- specifically the pancakes. Super affordable with soooo many options. Seating is a bit squished and limited but that's part of the diner vibe. Service is good and the vibes are good as well! I definitely recommend stopping in for a casual bite.

Great breakfast location... They catered to my daughter's dairy allergy too. Pancakes, eggs, and sausages were good! We will be back...

Thoroughly enjoyable diner with a nice selection of combos at prices less than $10. My husband ordered a traditional eggs Benedict that he gives five stars to as well. Delicious hot chocolate, nice outdoor seating and friendly staff. No wait during the week.

Waited 15 minutes and only get a coffee. The guy in a hat(I think he’s the owner or something) wanted to call orders, take orders, and get a check all on one guy and blame his mom for not serving faster. You can’t hire couple people only for them to walk around with the coffee pot and prevent them from taking orders. Horrible Horrible. It used to be more crowded and those capable woman served things faster. You can’t do anything on your own my guys.
