Located in the heart of Wayland Square, Wayland Square Diner is a quintessential American diner experience. There's the classic high top counter with stools and roughly 10 booths around the perimeter of the restaurant. This feels like a pretty classic diner experience. It's not heavily staffed, so I've noticed the waitress there tends to be a little stressed, but I feel like they're really fast with the food. There's a lot of booths and a counter space. It's not a huge restaurant, but at peak times they can fit a lot of people. They do a good job with sweet and savory foods. Think of all the omelets you have been served. When was the last time you took a bite and said, "Wow. Amazing flavor!"? Even the plain grilled spinach side was a revelation. I don't know when I have ever gotten so much marvelous flavor out of a diner lunch. Completely reset my expectations. And the service was fast, friendly, efficient, projecting the vibe of actually caring about you. Absolutely the place to go back to when looking for the diner experience.
