I filmed a quick intro outside, walked in, got a quick vid of the interior and before I got to sit down for a food review it went downhill fast. Almost immediately, the energy felt off. As I started my usual walkthrough (phone in hand), the interaction with the owner turned uncomfortable. Instead of being welcoming or neutral, the tone came off as condescending, rude and dismissive. There was no effort to de-escalate the situation, and I quickly felt unwelcome in the space. At that point, I made the right decision to leave. I didn’t raise my voice. I didn’t make a scene. I simply chose not to stay where I didn’t feel respected or welcomed. I’m always courteous, polite, and respectful when I walk into any establishment, and my money is just as good as anyone else’s. I would have easily dropped $250 on that visit including a generous tip for my server. When the vibe is off, I listen to that instinct. “📅 05.09.26 - ✍🏾 BIG AL’S WRITTEN REVIEW EP.244 - Big Al’s Reel Reviews 🍽️ Nana’s Bakery & Pizzeria 💎 📍Westerly, RI Aight B.A.R.R. fans… Saturday night I found myself walking through rainy downtown Westerly heading toward a smaller artisan-style sourdough spot that had been sitting on my radar for a minute now 👀🌧️🔥 And let me tell you something right now… This place had a REALLY good vibe from the moment I walked through the door 😮‍💨🔥 Candles glowing throughout the restaurant, exposed brick walls, fresh flowers on the tables, smooth 70s and 80s music playing all evening long, and people constantly flowing in and out all night 👏🏾🔥 This place wasn’t huge at all… but the ENERGY inside here was real. Tables stayed busy, the bar stayed active, conversations were happening everywhere, and the whole restaurant just had that cozy lively Saturday night atmosphere 😎 And let me say this too… The music in here was PERFECT 😎🔥 They were playing great classics all evening from Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, Lionel Richie, Hall & Oates, etc. My server Sarah did a really great job throughout the night too 👏🏾 She was friendly, attentive, welcoming, and handled the busy dining room really well. “Coast is an amazing experience in a relaxing quiet separate room with ocean views. The carefully prepared gourmet small plates were each a delight to savor. The fluke sashimi , waygu beef and the mushroom sampler were outstanding. “Outstanding! I was back for dinner last weekend with my wife. We had the firecracker starter, honey lavender salmon, and of course the burger, which were all cooked to perfection. The chef delivers every time and Tara makes an amazing martini. They have become our year-round go-to in all of Westerly. In the fall/winter months, we love settling into a cocktail by their stone fireplace, which is the centerpiece of the Inn. In the summer months, having dinner while enjoying their Friday evening live music is the best way to start the weekend. From the moment you walk in, Michael and Rob make you feel like you’re at home. Their ambience, food, cocktails, and service are unmatched. They’ve done a really nice job here.”

This was my first time coming here for food and got the St Bay burger, chicken fingers and french fries, a bowl of clam chowder, and the chocolate mint Oreo ice cream for dessert

Food came out, hot and fresh and everything was very good.

Prices are very fair. I would definitely stop here again.

It’s perfect to watch sunset over the beach. However, you cannot gain entry past 6pm. It is nice to watch it through the fence though.”

“Westerly Dels went above and beyond for my little girl’s birthday. It is her favorite treat (nut allergic so one of the very few treats we can get that we don’t make ourselves). A gallon of Dels served her entire class (16) the mini size and and 4 adults a small, for only $25. They wrote happy birthday Lora on the cap, gave her a shovel, and balloons. Way more than I expected and it made both of our days. Thanks again!”

When I got to my shop and unwrapped it, there was very little roast beef on it. Only four slices on a footlong. Everything else was good, as usual.”

“What a hidden gem! It was very late Sunday night and I hadn’t eaten anything all day. When I arrived at High Hope Tavern, the kitchen had already understandably closed. The gentleman behind the bar recommended Danny’s Bar.
I ordered the Smash Burger from a cool bartender, had pleasant conversation with a man sitting at the bar, and didn’t get any resistance re: my legal, ADA service dog.
I rarely eat French fries and couldn’t push them into my face fast enough. They were perfectly cooked, salted, and hot. I think I even heard harps playing. That burger was blended with the most delicious blend of meat:fat, probably 80/20 Chuck. No gristly bits, and seasoned just right.

What a beautiful place. She generously let us tour the shop on her day off as well as sample multiple flavors of gelato. All delicious! We indulged in a variety of IPAs at this charming classic home, built in the 18th century New England style. The layout was superb, offering plenty of tables and seats to choose from. The bartender, Justin, proudly informed us that all the murals were original, leaving us in awe! They were reminiscent of the Wadsworth Atheneum (CT), showcasing their age and historical significance. Whether you’re here for the beer or not, this building is worth exploring with its iconic status. What an incredible opportunity to tour such a historic gem! We’ll definitely return to enjoy more delicious beer.”

“We stopped in here once in May 2025 to meet up with friends that live nearby seasonally and told us we had to try one of Lorraine’s Cosmos because nobody due them better. . I’m not typically a martini drinker but I was told to give it a try and it was amazing as was the whole local vibe in the place. Our next trip to the area a month later we came back and I tried her Creamsicle Martini— just as delicious as the Cosmo— along with a quick ham & cheese grinder that was perfectly toasted with shredded lettuce (how I had them growing up)! Fast forward three months to our next visit and a Pumpkin Martini with a DC Supreme Pizza and the fun local bar atmosphere and it was yet another win!! Do yourself a favor and check them out the next time you’re in the area. Close enough to the beach.”

“My son Zak and I had lunch here today. This was our first time and it won't be our last. I had heard so much about this place I just had to check it out. It was a quiet afternoon and not too busy. Our server was also the bartender, service was fast, friendly and pleasant. The menu is HUGE as is the specials board and their favorites. I started out with a huge bowl of delicious steamers. They came with a bowl of what I believe to be broth to rinse the steamers in and another bowl of melted butter to dip those delicious steamers in. Next I ordered the fried whole belly clams. Out came a mountain of deliciousness that was NOT over fried. They were tender and sweet and oh so good. They came with another mountain of thick French fries and creamy tartar sauce. My son Zak ordered the Shepard's pie. He got a ginormous plate of good looking Shepard's pie with three thick slices of Italian bread. We both totally enjoyed our meals but there was so much that we were both too full to finish. So we both took home a good amount of yummy leftovers. We will definitely return to try more of their interesting menu items. I'm definitely interested in trying the soupy pizza.🍕”

We’ve just experienced a devastating fire at our apartment complex a little over a week ago and some of us lost everything. We’ve been staying in a nearby hotel as massive repairs are in the works. When Valerie came with our check, she asked if we wanted to buy a raffle ticket to which we explained our situation. As we were getting ready to pay our bill, Valerie came over and said our lunch was on them. We couldn’t believe it. “📅 05.09.26 - ✍🏾 BIG AL’S WRITTEN REVIEW EP.244 - Big Al’s Reel Reviews 🍽️ Nana’s Bakery & Pizzeria 💎 📍Westerly, RI Aight B.A.R.R. fans… Saturday night I found myself walking through rainy downtown Westerly heading toward a smaller artisan-style sourdough spot that had been sitting on my radar for a minute now 👀🌧️🔥 And let me tell you something right now… This place had a REALLY good vibe from the moment I walked through the door 😮‍💨🔥 Candles glowing throughout the restaurant, exposed brick walls, fresh flowers on the tables, smooth 70s and 80s music playing all evening long, and people constantly flowing in and out all night 👏🏾🔥 This place wasn’t huge at all… but the ENERGY inside here was real. Tables stayed busy, the bar stayed active, conversations were happening everywhere, and the whole restaurant just had that cozy lively Saturday night atmosphere 😎 And let me say this too… The music in here was PERFECT 😎🔥 They were playing great classics all evening from Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, Lionel Richie, Hall & Oates, etc. My server Sarah did a really great job throughout the night too 👏🏾 She was friendly, attentive, welcoming, and handled the busy dining room really well. One of my favorite parts of the evening honestly had nothing to do with the food though ☝🏾❤️ I ended up sitting next to a really wonderful couple named Alec and Angela, and we spent over an hour talking, laughing, discussing food and life throughout dinner. Alec even jumped into my video intermission yelling “NOW!” right on cue during filming 😎😁🔥 And to top it all off, they even surprised me by sending an Espresso dessert over to the table for me. Much love and appreciation to both of them ☝🏾❤️ Now aight… Let’s talk about this food 👀🔥 1️⃣ Risotto Balls - $11 Thumbs Up 👍🏾 Crunchy on the outside, soft flavorful risotto inside, fresh tomato sauce underneath… really good appetizer right here 👏🏾, an easy 👍🏾. 2️⃣ Nana’s Beef Bolognese - $25 Bomb 💣 Mannnn listen… this right here was INCREDIBLE 👀🔥 The noodles were cooked perfectly, the bowl was loaded with beef and pasta, and every bite tasted rich, fresh, and comforting all at the same time. Absolute home run dish right here. EASY 💣 3️⃣ Sweet & Spicy Pepperoni Pizza - $20 Bomb 💣 Yooo - this pizza was CRAZY 👀🍕 The sweet heat combination from the hot honey and Calabrian chili worked perfectly together, but honestly? The REAL star was the sourdough crust. It is thin, crunchy, flavorful, light char throughout… absolutely incredible crust right here 👏🏾🔥 Another EASY 💣. 4️⃣ Grass Fed Smash Burger + Bacon - $26 Bomb 💣 This burger was OFF THE HOOK 👀🔥 It's made with fresh beef, fresh toppings, incredible sesame seed bun, crispy bacon, and some of the best fries I’ve had in a minute 🔥 the double smash burger almost reminded me of a beefed-up Big Mac 😭🔥 But fresher, bigger, more authentic, and WAY more flavorful. 5️⃣ Hot Sourdough Doughnut - $4 It was a really nice simple dessert to end the evening 👏🏾 Warm, fresh, lemon vanilla flavor, and it paired perfectly with the espresso and vanilla ice cream dessert sent over by Alec and Angela ☕🍨❤️ 🏁 MY FINAL THOUGHTS: I’m gonna keep it real to reel… Nana’s Bakery & Pizzeria absolutely impressed me 👏🏾🔥 The atmosphere was beautiful, the music was incredible, the food was fresh and handcrafted, and the overall energy inside this place all night long was just REALLY good. “Today, 3 of us had lunch at your restaurant. Our server Valerie was great and the food was delicious. We’ve just experienced a devastating fire at our apartment complex a little over a week ago and some of us lost everything. We’ve been staying in a nearby hotel as massive repairs are in the works. When Valerie came with our check, she asked if we wanted to buy a raffle ticket to which we explained our situation. As we were getting ready to pay our bill, Valerie came over and said our lunch was on them. We couldn’t believe it.
