Do yourself a favor and eat here! I happened to locate Bearcat on a whim and my wife and I decided to eat here for our 1 year anniversary. From the food to the cocktails, there was not one item that we disliked. We started with the Grilled Oysters, Smoked Maitake Mushrooms & Duck Liver Toast. The oysters were perfectly cooked and had an incredible earthy/savory taste. The maitake mushrooms were tender with a hint of smoke & the duck liver toast was point blank the best I have ever had in terms of quality, texture and taste. We then moved on to the Hamachi Crudo, Crab Rice & Pork Belly. My wife could could not get enough of the Hamachi Crudo & Crab Rice with the uni hollandaise. The pork belly was perfectly cooked with a fantastic amount of fat cap that made it melt in your mouth. For cocktails, please do yourself a favor and order the "That's My Jam" as every sip will make you feel like you are biting into a PB&J (if you are into that thing). Thank you again Bearcat + crew for making our 1 year anniversary dinner nothing short of perfect!

We finally made it to Bearcat this week and we were not disappointed! The indoor decor is modern but woodsy to warm it up. We were initially sat at a table by the window, but the sun was in my husband's eyes and they offered to move us, which was really considerate. Our server, Sasha, grew on me. At first I was frustrated with her as I was trying to order a cocktail and then when we were placing our order she told us we needed to order more dishes as they were small. I wish we had known that prior to making our initial decisions, not that we didn't enjoy that, we just would have ordered more "strategically" with the other dishes rather than feeling rushed. So, for 2 people they suggest 5-6 dishes. Now, on to the food! We had the fois gras, dumplings, crisp, chicken, pork belly and the crab rice. The fois gras was seriously one of the BEST BITES of food I have had in a long time! The dumplings were interesting, very nutty and the crisp was tasty. Believe it or not, my second favorite dish was the chicken! It's hard to make chicken special and this was truly delicious, the herbs they used really made this dish shine. The crab rice had huge lumps of crab and the pork belly was also tasty. She says the menu changes frequently, so we'll need to go back soon!

Probably the best dining experience I've ever had in the Charleston area. Everything about the place, ambiance, staff, decor and most importantly food...was world-class. This is the Vern's, chasing sage, or chubby fish of West Ashley. It's really that good and in some instances maybe even better.

Our server, Sasha, and the food runners were fantastic. Knowledgeable, personable and very attentive to detail. The owner shared with us a glass of his favorite Amaro ... sublime experience

Best place to come to Avondale in a while. Way more Asian influence than I was expecting but done beautifully. Get the chefs counter if you can.

Absolutely amazing dining/culinary experience. We sat at the bar looking into the kitchen and it was so fun seeing them make everything and they were all super friendly. Food was also amazing!!!

Service was impeccable, the space is beautiful and has a different vibe than most high end restaurants in Charleston, and the food was inventive and absolutely incredible. Can't wait to go back.

This is an excellent restaurant in terms of creativity and flavor. We sampled among the bites, small plates, mains, and desserts and would definitely like to return regularly as long as the menu turns over frequently and/or daily off-menu additions are featured. Interesting cocktails and good wine list. Fun!

This was our 2nd visit (this time for my wife’s birthday dinner) and have to say it was a let down from our first visit. My wife expressed her sesame allergy and was given 2 entrees out of 6 that should could safely eat. Shortly after, she was told there was actually only one entree that was safe for her. Disappointing that a restaurant of this caliber doesn’t provide a more balanced menu for one of the top 9 allergens listed by the FDA. Also disappointing at the way it was handled by the staff. Most upscale restaurants would send a chef or manager over to discuss the situation and suggest replacing a side or leave off a certain component. Our server was left to deliver the news and instead of apologizing she only tried to point us towards other non-entree items. Once we politely told her we had decided to leave and to cancel my food as well, she became remarkably less friendly. The two appetizers were very good and we love the ambiance. Unfortunately we aren’t likely to return due to the allergy situation and how it was handled.

Outstanding dining experience. In a sea of fine dining restaurants in Charleston I can truly say that the dishes served were like none I've tasted in the area. Standouts are the grilled oysters, the shrimp salad, the cashew miso dumplings, and the smoked mushrooms. And the bread pudding with the banana creme anglais was a surprisingly perfect bite to end our meal - salty, sweet and nice texture without being to heavy and dense. Cocktails and wine list are on point as well. Go for the gin-based, The Shimmer and either of the tequila drinks. Chenin Blanc was very nice as well. So excited to have this offering in my neighborhood within walking distance of my house. Bravo chef!
