We stopped here for dessert and wine. The green velvet cake was dry on the outside. The tirasamu was ok. The server was rude and unpleasant. We were hoping for a better experience in Charleston.

We were staying at Planter's Inn for a quick trip to Charleston and weren't able to make it to Peninsula Grill. So we were excited to try Benne's for lunch. It was very disappointing. We weren't expecting pre-made food but that can be okay sometimes. My mom got the smoked salmon sandwich and it was definitely not made that day. It had wilted greens and radishes and completely brown avocado. I got the Super Greens Salad and it was mediocre at best. The greens were very fresh and crisp but everything else was disappointing. A tiny bit of butternut squash and I tasted no goat cheese or pepitos. The parsnips were tasty. I needed more dressing and they were completely out of the cranberry vinaigrette. This was at noon.

Went to Charleston for a quick weekend getaway, Penninsula Grill was the perfect date night experience! Our server Jacob was so knowledgeable about wine pairings with our menu options and had the kindest personality, he made the already great experience absolutely memorable. We will absolutely go back on our next visit to the low country! The food was a culinary display of expertise!

We had a retirement celebration (mine) with another couple. I picked Peninsula Grill since I had so many folks tell me how special it was and we had never been. We have been trying many of the Charleston restaurants, a new one each time. The entrance to Peninsula Grill thru the hotel is unique and you feel like you are going back to an intimate setting. We arrived early for our reservation and had a drink at the classic bar - the bartender was so friendly and helpful. The selection of drinks and wines were as good as advertised. The dinner was so wonderful. I experienced/shared: raw oysters, oysters with buttermilk chantilly (BEST OYSTERS THAT I'VE HAD), caesar salad, lobster, the flounder special that night (BEST FISH THAT I'VE HAD), various wines (the selection is awesome!), and, of course, the "hyped" coconut cake (WORDS CANNOT DESCRIBE HOW SMOOTH AND DELICIOUS THIS CAKE IS). The cake was personlized with "Congratulations!" in chocolate on the plate. The atmosphere was relaxing and we ended up as the last table that night - no one made us feel rushed. But more importantly, all the service was top-notch, welcoming, and constant. MOST IMPORTANTLY, OUR MAIN SERVER, "KAJ", WAS SO GREAT AND SHE HAD AN INCREDIBLE WAY OF GUIDING US THROUGH THE NIGHT'S DINNER.

We were there for Christmas week and our anniversary, walking to dinner on Christmas Day, almost everything closed and looking for somewhere to pause for a martini we stumbled upon BENNIE’s. The bartender was AWSOME, met and talked at length with another couple, that happens with three martinis. The bartender gave us all kinds of info and things to see. We spotted the ULTIMATE COCONUT CAKE, 11 layers of decadence, I forgot my vest there, called and told them I would get it in the morning since it was raining. Within bout half hour, a call from the concierge saying it was at the front desk. Forgot the bartenders name but she worked Christmas Day and is a special young lady. The BLOOD ORANGE MARGARITA WAS AWSOM AS WELL
