Great place, excellent food, reasonably priced, and fantastic service. It's an absolute gem on James Island worthy of downtown Charleston. Never had something I didn't like. From a fine Charcuterie board to an Italian BLT... steak to chicken and waffles. Lovely outdoor seating area and an elegant yet comfortable bar. It's definitely worth a visit.

Great service and outstanding food! Try the short ribs with grits. Our server was very informative and had good suggestions.

We love Edison and think it's a hidden secret on James Island. The vibe of the restaurant is wonderful, staff is attentive (Ariel was great) and the 1/2 priced Wine Wednesday seals the deal. Recently visited and enjoyed the Fig & Fromage, Bistro Steak Salad and Steak Frites. Appetizer was delicious and both steaks were cooked to perfection.

We found out about this great neighborhood gem when we were searching Resy for restaurant options for a trip to Charleston in mid-January. When we arrived for our reservation, we were greeted with a warm welcome by the owner and seated right away. Our server, Joshua, took great care of us throughout the evening. He was very personable, gave excellent food and wine recommendations, and he did not miss a beat in seeing that all of our needs were promptly met even though it was a busy Friday evening! The restaurant was accurately described as "upscale casual" on Resy. We cannot imagine not visiting again on our future trips to Charleston! They have a wonderful outdoor area that we're looking forward to checking out during the warmer months.

Edison is a terrific restaurant on James Island, with great and inventive lighting and excellent food. The meals are all fresh and colorful, and the famous dessert light bulb is unforgettable!

Would give this place 3.5 stars if I could. Not quite worthy of 4. Ambiance is nice. I enjoy the renovated house style restaurant. Went Friday evening and was able to get two seats at the bar. Bartender was friendly but interesting that there is no liquor available. Ordered the chowder and the braised short rib and grits. Chowder was good. Wouldn't order again. Braised short ribs with the grits was good but would not order again. But it lacked a certain distinction to warrant price tag.The flavors were slightly muddled. Nothing that cut through and left me impressed. Almost forgot. Had a slice of the key like pie for dessert. This I would not recommend. Too dense to an almost gummy quality. Supposed to be blackberry combination from key lime pie but that left much to be desired. Friend ordered the steak frites. Was unimpressed by cook quality. Brown ring on outside and overly raw on inside. Would like to see more care for the dishes. Overall would come here but maybe just for a glass of wine

We had a nice time here, a little different than we expected. The layout is a little confusing when you first walk in, but the service was good and the food was interesting. The tacos for instance were really tasty with the glass noodles making me wonder why more places don't add an asian flair to their tacos. The salmon entree was good as well. Since they are located close to a school they can't have a full bar, but they do have beer and wine. Not too fancy but a step up from other places.

What a lovely experience we had at this restaurant. I had read the positive reviews and since we were spending a few days on James Island, we just had to try it. They did not disappoint. We were fortunate to have DJ as our server. She was delightful and quite helpful with food and drink suggestions. I appreciated how readily available she was without being intrusive. It felt like making a new friend! Aside from the amazing food (I had the Wild Mushroom Melt, which was the stuff dreams are made of, and my husband had the Bistro Steak Salad.) and wine, the restaurant had a lovely, relaxed feel. One thing that struck me was how happy the staff seemed to be! You don't always see that. I recommend this place and look forward to our next visit!
