The aged brick walls and revolutionary era artwork inside this culinary speakeasy celebrate the heart of Low Country by way of fine dining and Dixie. Rising from the swampy remains of this complicated past, bougie foodies gather around a communal bar top that welcomes everyone with modern light fixtures, warming their bellies as they sit and slurp Beausoleil oysters with horseradish and thyme. You might slice through plump, firm hedgehog mushrooms with egg yolk and nasturtium, wondering what nasturtium is... oh. Right. It's delicious with egg yolk and hedgehog mushrooms. The cheaper wine pairing is just as good as the reserve, and the service is the most artful hospitality team the food industry has to offer; they practically ballet around your table with a level of pride you don't often find in the stateside service industry. My snobby tastes and big fat face can't wait to return and devour more of what McCrady's has to offer. Bravo Sean Brock, you left a masterpiece in your wake.

This is a really intimate little restaurant. I love that they offered you a glass of wine instantly before you were even in your seat. The wait staff is superb, and you basically get a private waiter for the duration of your meal. The courses moved pretty fast, so if you're doing the wine pairing, you better drink up quick or you'll have a glass poured and waiting in the wings. The best bites were the first offerings. There were three "snacks" up first that were excellent. The best dish was like a pasta made of finely cut squid... the broth was amazing. The heartiest course was duck, and unfortunately, it was pretty underwhelming. The dessert was fine, but not overly memorable. It's expensive, but a unique meal.

This was one of the best dinning experiences I have ever had. The food and service was impeccable. Each course was intertwined with the rich history of Charleston.

The place is nice but the whole experience is just people pretending to be fancy. The food is small and just not very good. I say just stop pretending and and go to some normal place and enjoy your meal what you enjoy.

Such a great experience. The staff was great. Attentive but not too much and personable. Food was exceptional and each wine pairing was spot on.

If everybody ate at McCrady's there would be no war. The 9 courses prepared by Chef Norton and his mad squadron of geniuses in the silent-but-deadly kitchen were nothing short of magical. Patrick, manager to some/sommelier to some greeted us at the door with a posture that "southern comfort" would be jealous of. This meal and experience will be forever remembered by us who have experienced it this evening. Thank you all so much.

The best dining experience of my life! And yes, it truly is an experience! When we went, you are escorted to the dining room. When you enter the room, it is evident that they have purposefully cut off all phone and internet access. You can't be distracted or disruptive to other guests. Plus, no phones meant I was totally immersed in the wild ride of McCrady's tasting menu. I will warn that it is ungodly expensive. But if you have a special occasion and can spare at least $400.... it is worth it! Skip the gifts, jewelry, or whatever else you were planning for that birthday or anniversary; spend the money at McCrady's instead. Just do it. The dinner was about three hours long. It is a tasting menu. We enjoyed ~10 different items. Each dish was meticulously designed and executed. Rest assured that Sean Brock has accounted for every detail. The flavors were incredible! And unlike anything I have tasted before that evening. The staff moved flawlessly around the room, as if they were dancing together in sync. Our waiter was very engaged with us. He was able to answer all of our questions about the food/drinks. Hearing him explain the dish, where the ingredients come from, and how it was prepared absolutely added to the experience. I was blown away from start to finish. I have eaten all over Charleston, and I recommend McCrady's to everyone.

Loved this place. Can't understand why they closed the tavern. I hope they reopen it. It's such an amazing and historic place. Please reopen it! It was amazing when Sean Brock was there. He really knows food and is a very nice person who would come out to the tables and talk with guests.

Excellent tasting menu, is up their for one of the best ones we have done (not the best but close). The Carolina gold rice with the broth was absolutely amazing. I love when you take a simple ingredient and pull out so many flavors. They had a wagyu beef supplement, which we added. It was nice but not necessary to make the meal amazing. Great place for a special occasion meal.
