Reminiscing on the joy the Whig brought. The food amazing, the drinks poured well, the people amazing! When you're in Columbia, ask someone, virtually anyone, about the Whig and pick up a glass to carry some of the history with you! The set up couldn't be replicated- destined artifacts. I'll especially miss the turkey room and iPod dance parties

Love the Whig!! Amazing vibes here. Very Sherlock Holmes vibes. Underground and fun! Burgers here are good and I've heard the spinach artichoke dip is as well

WHAT. A. VIBE. You walk down a flight of stairs into this small, dark, dingy - yet eclectic and energized bar, which is packed with all sorts of nic-nacs. A lot of history here, and you can tell while a lot of locals claim stake at the bar, this is a tourist destination too (& well worth it.) While we didnt try any food, we just snagged a beer and people watched and admired all the interactions. We were packed like sardines, so didn't feel comfortable staying very long, but I can totally appreciate the place for what it is. It's the people, bumping shoulders, hollering for your order, that make this place special. From what we could see, it seemed like they had some standard bar food that looked pretty good. If you are popping in Columbia, this is a bucket list item for sure. Just be prepared for the experience, and embrace it.

This is the true defination of a dive bar. Great low light atmosphere located underground in downtown Columbia. Cool vibe, great drinks, amazing staff. Food is legit too,so if you need to feed your hunger side.

This post is bittersweet. I had the chance to try them last week before the close officially. I never realized how much I drove or walked right past them so many times. None the less I had a great experience! It is located underground which was a first for me with a restaurant. It is not big at all but the atmosphere was very nice. The red lighting was interesting and gave a very unique vibe to the place. I went with friends and they suggested I get the Whig burger so I did. Let me tell you I was not disappointed at all. I loves the flavor of the burger and the togetherness of it. It didn't fall apart not one time. The patty was juicy and cooked perfectly. The service was good and we didn't wait long for our food at all. I also tried one of their drink specials, "the Whig punch" it was definitely different but not bad at all for $5 dollars. I'll definitely go back before they close! So sad to see them go being I just experienced them! Top five burgers in my book!

The Berger Burger is by far one of the best burgers I’ve had and their gouda mac is excellent. Aside from that, I do not know what draws me and my friends here so often. The place gives off dark dungeon vibes and it’s hard to hold your table spot because you have to go order at the bar. Plus there’s some questionable patrons (saw a guy lean over and eat food that another table had left on their plates). It’s definitely a memorable experience though, you’ll either laugh, cringe or both!

The tots were amazing, the beer cheap and tasty, and the atmosphere awesome!

I liked salad the most, burger was okay. I didnt like fries because they are not crispy anymore due to the way they present it (sauce)

Great drink selection and by far the best bar food in Columbia. It's a unique atmosphere and easily my favorite late-night spot in town. Don't skip the chipotle bacon burger and gravy fries, but you can't go wrong no matter what you order.

A real dark and cozy place. It felt like the atmosphere of a 1940's speak easy, updated to our time but no bands were a playing. Great place for a couple or a very small group to socialize and drink. Oh and a vegetarian option of burgers that suited my palate! Overall, I wish it was a lot bigger to house a larger crowd and a band.

Yes, I'm a sad I hear it is going out of business I loved this place as soon as I walked in. I moved from Hollywood and it was the only bar that made me feel at home. Underground, not a lot of signage and supports the arts

The Whig is a pretty awesome spot lots of history. Their kitchen stays open late and the staff is is welcoming and attentive. Now this is all spot like I stated with lots of history so everything is not going to be pristine and squeaky clean but that's not the vibe they're going for. However the food is spectacular and he literally just feel like a part of history when eating there. The vibe is perfect eclectic yet vintage. Have you had not tried this gem please try it very soon.

Food is extremely good. It is all bar food not lots of options. The Whig tends to be older crowd.

Bar food with vegan options, cold drinks, and a dark and cozy lounge, a no brainer. We stumbled upon this hole in the wall after leaving a show nearby and were not disappointed.
