“We continue to be impressed by the entire dining experience at this Hilton Head Island gem. Everyone who waited on us, from the hostess to the bartender to the server, to the sommelier was friendly, knowledgeable, attentive, and pleasant. And the food, wine, and cocktails were all exquisite. It is a very small place, but it feels spacious enough due to very clever decorating. The bar is beautiful. We enjoy both the full dining experience, as well as the wine and cocktail experiences at the bar. Can't wait to visit again when we return to Hilton Head Island in May.“
“I went here for dinner by myself as I've read excellent reviews of this restaurant. I did not have a reservation although I preferred the bar seating anyway. It's tiny but warm and staff was welcoming. Meredith served me well and was friendly (funny!) and professional. She recommended the grouper and how pleased I was to oblige! Cooked to perfection with yummy veggie and rice sides. Excellent cuisine. The wine was generously poured and also a good choice of Sauvignon blanc from New Zealand. I stayed several hours as I was fortunate to meet a couple seated next to me who were charming and open to conversation as we all enjoyed the piano player. The owner, Thomas Justice, regaled me with his fascinating family history. His ancestor, Sergeant Alvin C York, was a Medal of Honor recipient in 1918 during World War 1. (I'll need to watch the Gary Cooper movie of his escapades.) Please don't hesitate to visit this fine local establishment . They will be closing for some weeks in January, 2024 so check ahead before you go.“
“We visited to celebrate our Aunt's birthday. To enter the restaurant, you have to pay a minimum of $9 (per car) at the security gate, which wouldn'tbe too much of a problem. But, they only take cash. Because our party size was over 20 people, this required a trip to the ATM.. The security guard advised that the restaurant would apply a $9 credit to our bill once we arrived. When we arrived, there was very limited parking. There is no fee for parking. The restaurant had an antique setting. Our party was seated in a private area upstairs, which was cozy but was set up really nice. The servers were very attentive, especially given our large party size. The food was pretty good. The seasoning is average on the meat and nonexistent on the veggies. The chocolate mousse cake was my favorite. It was very light and not overly sweet. Get the pasta dish! One of my family members ordered it. I tasted it, and it was delicious. We arrived early for our Aunt's surprise birthday dinner. While we were waiting for close to 45 minutes, we were asked if we wanted to order drinks and apps. We asked if the app orders would be brought out while waiting and was told that they would. We placed app orders that never came. When we checked, we were told that they were waiting for everyone to arrive....smh. Complimentary bread is provided. However, it wasn't served until after an hour of being seated. The serving team was well-versed in the menu and was very attentive, despite the bumps with the apps and bread. I also appreciated the amount of patience that they had with everyone.Overall, the restaurant, food, and service was good.“
“After spending a week in Hilton Head and frequenting many of the local restaurants, would have to say Alfred's was our favorite. So much so that we ate dinner there twice and both meals were amazing. The fish was cooked to perfection, served piping hot and with a delicious sauce. The German platter is fantastic, and don't miss the potato pancake appetizer. Alfred's delivers where too many restaurants fail - phenomenal food & service.“
