My husband and I came to your restaurant with 6 other people our experience was wonderful until a fly landed in my glass of wine I asked for the manager (Nick) I had about a third of a glass of wine and that's EXACTLY what he brought me, I asked are you kidding, he said no we don't give away free Alcohol, that was rude!! we spent over $600 in your restaurant. This was our first experience here and I have to say we were very impressed to the point that it has now been added to our annual beach trip weekly dinner list. It’s hard to find a place with good food, service and atmosphere. Dessert was also a fan favorite of ours. We will be back! Highly recommend!
What a great find. Delicious food, fun atmosphere and great service. Highly recommend. Get there early and if Brenda is working ask for her!

Hook & Barrel is a popular restaurant in Myrtle Beach known for its excellent dining experience, inviting atmosphere, and friendly staff. The menu features dishes like filets and scallops, with standout options such as the blackened swordfish special and angry clams. Chef Heidi Vukov’s culinary skills are evident in every dish. Guests appreciate the small Caesar and wedge salads, which include handcrafted components like parmesan crisps and house-made croutons. The drinks, including the Hook & Barrel Old Fashioned and Hibiscus Cosmo, are memorable and well-presented. Families find the restaurant accommodating for young diners, offering juicy grilled chicken and flavorful fried shrimp. The fried fish bites are light, flavorful, and served with a delicious sauce, while the kids' fried shrimp and fries are popular among children. The blackened Mahi Mahi with scallops is considered one of the best meals. Desserts like the triple chocolate mousse are highly recommended, especially for sharing. The patio provides screens and foliage for privacy, enhancing the relaxed environment. Guests have enjoyed dishes such as crab stuffed flounder, crab cake, and burrata salad with shrimp, all praised for their perfect accompaniments. The lobster tail and oysters are described as scrumptious and incredible, respectively. Cocktails like the lazy alligator complement the meals well. The atmosphere is inviting, and the service is generally excellent. However, one visitor expressed disappointment after a fly landed in their wine and was met with rude service from the manager, leading to a less favorable impression. Despite this, many guests have added Hook & Barrel to their annual beach trip weekly dinner list, citing good food, service, and atmosphere. The dessert, especially, remains a favorite. Overall, the restaurant offers unique, somewhat upscale, locally sourced dishes with fantastic service.
