Not gonna lie, did I decide to go here mainly because their name is pun-tastic? Absolutely. Was it worth the 5 minute walk from my Air Bnb? Again, absolutely.What can I say about this place?I have never eaten a piece of fried fish so quickly in my life. It was the main star of this show. So delicate and light. The batter was golden and crunchy. And, the best supporting actress goes to the new love of my life, which is the tarter sauce they serve it with. I have NEVER had tarter sauce this DELICIOUS. Forget the bland viscous mayo you typically think of when you hear the words "tarter sauce." This made in house tarter sauce is so delicious that I wanted to drink it. Yup. You read that correctly. Drink it. The chips were kind of an afterthought for me. They tasted crunchy and fresh, even after being the bed for the fried fish. I was impressed that they didn't become greasy and soggy. The chips tasted great being dipped in the tarter sauce. Give me a gallon of that stuff to go, please.The atmosphere was cozy and eclectic. Several of the tables clearly had locals relaxing and enjoying each other's company. There's a bar to the right of the entrance and a lovely patio area with picnic tables. The menu is graciously simple. The gal working at the food counter was lovely and made us feel welcome with friendly banter. The food was served to us quickly, and it was pipping hot wrapped thickly in butcher paper, which makes a great plate/tablecloth.If you're a fan of proper fish and chips, go to CODfather. You will be delighted.

As a fellow brit I was super excited to eat here and get a taste of home. It DID NOT disappoint. The fish and chips were incredible, 10/10 tasted just like a chippy at home.You order at a window and receive your meal wrapped in paper as you would in England. Behind the food window is a small pub-like area, that offers a selection of on tap imports including Guinness.The $15 world famous was a large portion that I struggled to finish, but it was just as delicious a few hours later.I would definitely recommend it to others and I will definitely be back again.

Fish and chips are excellent. Food is made when you order so it is fresh and hot. We ordered our food at the bar which was a mistake. There were four orders at our table. The first 3 orders came out with a little wait but not too long. The 4th order came out after the people who made the order checked on it twice and everyone else at the table had finished. The manager really should have comped their meal. Moral of the story, DON’T order food at the bar.

We had an excellent experience! The food was very good, but above the food was the service that we received. The employees were so attentive and kind. They are by far one of the best crews in the industry. Kudos to you all and keep up the great service.This restaurant is a must try!

I enjoyed the fish and chips, but I’ll definitely stick to the half option next time. The restaurant was semi full and my order came about 15+ minutes after I gave it. The environment was not what I would bring my family to sit and eat in, maybe the outside seating. Inside is more of a fellas vibe.

I've been eating at The Codfather since the original opened on Reynolds Ave. It's ruined me for fish and chips anywhere else. I always bring my friends here when they visit from out of town, and they love it just as much as I do. The newer location isn't the same, so I'll go out of my way to go to the Spruill Ave. location. Try it. You won't be disappointed.

We walked in right at closing and they still served us. Great food. My only complaint is there were a lot of little bugs near the outside dinning that bothered us during our meal.
