We did a half-day winter tour ... great personalized attention and info from Tour Guide Jerry who gave us a grand tour not just of Crazy Horse, Mount Rushmore, and the Black Hills, but also around town and the uniquely charming Fort Hays Chuckwagon. Jerry was also very accommodating with our timing and accommodations, and even gave us some bonus gifts. A fantastic tour we'll never forget!

We had a great time.joe made it a interesting day.the cowboy breakfast and the chuckwagon supper was great.breakfast entertainment was a gentleman who played some old time gospel songs like my mother use to sing to me. The evening show was entertaining.

Great for Kids! Bill Martin is definitely the best driver. We did the all day and we had a great breakfast and went to Mt. Rushmore, Custer State Park, Lake Sylvan, and Crazy Horse Memorial. Bill had a lot of information that was interesting and also joked and had funny stories. I haven’t had the show yet tonight but I expect it to be great. The busses are very nice, equipped with an outlet for every seat, and 1 restroom on the bus. I would recommend this to anyone in the South Dakota area. This was an amazing experience and if I ever come back would do it again just because of how amazing it is.

Joe, our driver/tour guide, kept us engaged with the history of this incredible area. Lots of laughs too. Highly recommend.

My wife and I attended the Fort Hays chuck wagon BBQ dinner and music show on August 18th, 2023, and found it very disappointing. Our time started when we arrived at the prescribed time as listed on the website, to arrive at 5:00 PM to receive tickets. Sadly the doors didn't open until 5;10, so we sood in the 100-degree weather until we could go in. (Not that the temperature mattered, as there was no air conditioning anywhere that we found). Then we were instructed by the ticket lady that we could look around in the stores (Gift shop) or go outside in the back to see a film sight. When we were finally let in for dinner (10 minutes late again) we were herded (reminded me of boot camp in the service) and hurried through a chow line to get our dinner, after being told by one of the entertainers how we were to do it. (Like children in grade school). We ate and then were entertained by the musicians (Great musicians) with music from the 40-50;s '60s, '70s, 2000s, and 1980;s, No chuckwagon music such as Sons of the Pioneers, 1890'2 through 1910's. When it came to table clean up after dinner, we were instructed to hand everything to the right or left and pass it on. Seems like the staff should have done that. The staff we encountered (4 total) were, for the most part, were rude. (in fact, the girl taking the metal dishes in the kitchen was literally throwing them down the line with a sour look on her face (she seemed mad about something). Sorry to say, we tried this chuckwagon experience instead of giving the one in Custer a try first.

Our family went to Fort Hays Chuckwagon supper show. The surrounding "stores" have a theme from the 1800's and the ONE that was actually demonstrating something was interesting, but the other? Meh! The meal was okay, but the show itself was atrocious! We were expecting a "cowboy" show. Instead, what we got was four old men and one young man doing a "rock n' roll revue" What? It was super loud. All of the parents and young children had to leave because it was too loud. The content was inferior and questionable. Who wants to see an old man dressed up like Elvis actually walking on the tables and embarrass the few young women who will actually still make appearances at these things? I don't know...maybe you do. Very disappointed. Will NEVER go back!

We booked this show not really knowing what to expect. It was great. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We sat down for an old time '' on the trail meal''. We had a great time. Plenty to eat. We had the brisket. It was excellent. Then the music started. Everyone in the band was very entertaining. They has everyone laughing and joining in with singing and clapping. Music from the 30's through the 90's. Be sure to book this if you are in the area.

This really may be your best option for seeing Mt Rushmore, Custer State Park, and the Crazy Horse Monument... not to mention letting them navigate the Iron Mountain highway! You'll see them drive an 8-foot wide bus through an 8-foot 4-inch tunnel that curves ! They pass through a total of 3 tunnels and cross 3 bridges - listen closely to your guides description (our guide, Chuck, did an amazing job!) One last point about each of the three tunnels... the designer, Peter Norbeck, laid out the tunnels so there is a very of Rushmore through each one!

The bus tour was a great way to see the area! Our tour guide, Billy, was amazing. Time well spent!

I had my hesitations from doing a group tour, especially since we had to wake up at 6am (we're not morning people) to make it work, but let me tell you it was the best decision I could have made. Mt Rushmore tours at fort hays really made the experience a special one. The level of service and the friendliness of the staff here was worth a million stars, they even picked us up and dropped us off to our hotel which I appreciated. We also got to see way more places in a short time than we even expected. The only thing I have to say that isn't a stellar feedback is, the other reviews are correct and the food isn't the best. But, this isn't a restaurant, you gotta put things into perspective. You're in the middle of nowhere in a small town in a group tour where you gotta stop at a ton of places in one day and make time for everything. I didn't go into it expecting the free food to be made by Gordon Ramsay himself. Could it be a little better? Yes I think they could step it up a notch on the food, but the good parts of this experience largely outweighed this, and they absolutely still deserved a 5 star review in my opinion. The day started with a "cowboy breakfast", in the morning, they had pancakes (the worst part), and biscuits and gravy that was definitely okay enough to eat, they also gave you time to walk around the little western town they created, take pictures, visit the gift shop, and watch a free show they had. The free show was not as good in the morning as it was in the evening, but I'm assuming that's because people were busy checking out the town and taking pictures, arriving, getting their tickets, so they decided to leave the best for last. Once you board the coach at ft hays dances with the wolves film set (the little western town I mentioned earlier), your First stop is the Mt Rushmore national memorial. On your way there and back from this once in a lifetime sight to see, they take you through the most amazing tunnels and view points they let you get off the bus and take pics of it all. Next stop was the famous cluster state park , where you can find wild Buffalo so close you can take selfies with them in the background. We stopped for lunch at the state game lodge, they say to try the Buffalo stew, I wasn't a fan, I recommend you guys to hold off eating if you Can until dinner, the buffet wasn't cheap and it wasn't good. I don't blame the tour for that, it was probably one of the only restaurant options anywhere near that area we were at, it also had an interesting history , it was the presidential summer white house to former president Calvin Coolidge and Dwight D. Eisenhower at one point. If you are really hungry I would order off the menu and get something light rather than trying the buffet. Next stop was the needles highway. The tunnels were beautiful, with many views throughout the tunnels worth taking pictures of. Next stop was sylvan lake. It's a sight to see, beautiful, and totally worth the stop and picture moment. Last stop before returning to ft hays was crazy horse memorial. Not as impressive as mt Rushmore but still a wonderous sight to see. Honestly this was a pleasant surprise, before visiting it on the tour I didn't even know it existed, I wouldn't have through to go see this myself. There was even a native dance going on, we watched it after taking pictures of the face on the mountain and learning about the Lakota Sioux nation. The grand finale was coming back to ft hays for dinner and a special guest the famous willie Nelson singing his hit song "on the road again"! The dinner show was soooo good, they even had a fake Elvis, the crowd was cheering, they were interactive and entertaining, and I was blessed to have the chance to see this show. I wanna give a special thanks to the tour company, I would have missed dinner and the show if they didn't call me back and ask why I had left, well truth is my other half's contact lenses were dry and we needed to find solution and our phones were

Can't say enough about the full day tour with breakfast and dinner show. Our guide Dan was astonishing and so professional. Please take the time to enjoy Mt Rushmore, Custer State Park and crazy horse.
