This is a review for the brisket only. It was so bad I tried it twice. They serve it thin-sliced (which is uncommon) yet it was so tough that a knife was required to saw bites off. And then each slice had grill marks on it! Altogether a bizarre brisket experience unless they were trying to prove no one can assault beef like they can.The pork is ok. You’ll be happy with it if you’re stuck on foot on Houston Levee Road with a sickness only BBQ pork can cure.

Go to the one in Germantown. The food at this one is horrible. It tasted old and bland. The pork shoulder was dry and tasted like it had been microwaved. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place.

I don't know if it's just this particular one, but I was not happy with my experience. Firstly, we had to wade through all the people standing at the front door. I guess they were waiting for takeout because the dining room was practically empty. The server seating us ushered us to a booth, and our server came right over to introduce himself. Very pleasant and attentive. We hear screaming and shouting coming from the other side of the seat, and thinking someone is arguing, I don't turn around. But then we realized it was someone watching a horror movie! At full volume! We had to practically yell at each other to have a conversation. The food came out quickly, 1/2 a slab and a chicken sandwich, not pleased at all... the sandwich was dry, basically a piece of chicken breast on a hoagie bun. No sauce of any kind, not even a piece of lettuce! The ribs, although cooked well, were sub-par, in my opinion, to the ribs I've had at the original Commissary. I was very disappointed. Back to the person watching the movie. It turns out it was an employee! I sincerely hope she was on her break! Again, we were the only ones in this part of the restaurant, and again, the place was empty, so why seat us there and isn't there a designated area for employees to take their breaks? When we left, again there was a congregation of folks at the podium where the seating person stands, this time mostly employees. It was a bottle neck as if you're merging onto 240 from 385. The bill came out to $50.00, and I truly believe I would have been more satisfied had I gone to Pyros or Outback for that amount. Not happy at all.

Service was great. Food was realllllly bad. The toughest piece of brisket you will ever eat. It’s like the brisket was only cooked for 30

I will start by saying i believe it was the time of my visit that had the greatest impact on the quality of my food. I did not receive my food until about 8:45pm and you could definitely tell it in the quality. I got a 2 meat platter with chicken and brisket and the brisket was closer to jerky in texture. My wife ended up getting a half slab of ribs and they more glued to the bone than fall of the bone. Definitely needed a knife to separate the bones. I would consider trying again but only earlier in the day when the food quality might be a bit better

We’ve ordered 2 kinds of meats ribs and beef brisket. They have a tasty, little bit chewy, thin wide cut brisket which is different than the other bbq restaurants we used to eat, most brisket are tender and fall apart. The ribs are tender, paired nicely with bbq sauce but the Louisiana hot sauce is not hot at all to me. Coleslaws and deviled eggs are okay. However, sorry I’m not a fan of the sweet baked beans. My son has a hotdog with fries and little cup of banana pudding. I think that plate is plentiful for a baby.

High expectations not met.Average but not great.Brisket with sliced thin and dry. Ribs are overcooked, dry and still had stiff silver skin.Coconut cake was very good. Bread pudding was very good.Service was good and waiter was very nice.
