“This hidden gem exceeded our expectations! My husband and I indulged in a variety of menu items, each proving to be delightful. The authentic flavors transported me back to South Texas. We're definitely planning to return for more culinary adventures!“
“If you're looking for an authentic experience in Mexican cuisine. This is where it's at. It's the true definition of Mama's cooking. I've known this lady since I was a kid. It really is just a mom cooking in the kitchen.“
“The best Mexican food in Cookeville hands down. I've lived in California, Texas, vacation to Mexico regularly. If you're in the area, this is your best choice by far. I'm a sucker for good al pastor. The kids love shopping in the market after dinner.“
“Loved that you could have a view from the booths by the many large windows. Chips and salsa were very good, although the salsa was served in small plastic to go cups. Strange! Why not serve it in a salsa bowl like other Mexican restaurants. Lunch portions were good. The waiter checked on us several times, always nice to have drinks refilled without having to flag down the server. Ordered chicken delight and a side order of beef tostada, which was filled with ground beef and topped with lettuce, sour cream, and quacamole“
“Incredibly friendly staff! Service was quick, and the food was great! My wife loves Mexican food, but she doesn't like Asian food (so I don't get it often). This place has both, so it was awesome. I got the teriyaki & pineapple with rice. Love it!“
“This is the second location for Don Carbon Express in Middle Tennessee. What a great addition to Hendersonville. I've been eagerly anticipating the arrival of Don Carbon as there are a couple of great Taquerias in town but the lines are long (a good sign) so there's demand in town for another Taqueria. This is a walk up counter so no long lines of cards circling the building like at other places. Not a criticism, that's just how they operate. When you walk in there is a large empty space and a few tables on the wall which indicates that this is primarily a take out place. I opted to eat in. It's pretty warm inside the restaurant so it was a bit uncomfortable but it didn't' detract from the delicious food. There are a large variety of typical options such as tacos, burritos, quesadillas, etc. They have the typical meat options of carne asada, carnitas, chicken, beef tongue and a few others. You can add onion, jalapeno, cilantro, etc. as garnishes. Served in two soft corn tortillas I ordered tacos de carnitas with onion and no cilantro (vile weed!) and refried beans as a side. They only have canned soda and Jariotos fruit flavored soda in bottles. They also have some type of fountain fruit punch. No fountain drinks so if you need a refill it's going to cost 1/4 the total meal cost. They also have small bags of tortilla chips and a freshly prepared salsa bar with typical options. They Salsa Picante from peppers is fabulous and the Salsa Pincante de Tomatillo has a nice kick. Nice little touch with the salsa bar. My tacos were excellent. They were served with grilled onion and a grilled jalapeno which were very tasty. They were served with a few slices of radish and pickled carrot in true Taqueria style. The food was prepared quickly and my carnitas (crispy) were juicy and flavorful. The refried beans were pretty typical. The were served warm and the queso melted sufficiently to enhance the flavor. Overall, the service was excellent but the "dining room" does not lend itself to comfort. The food however was outstanding. This will definitely be a "comebacker" for me. Thoroughly enjoyed it“
“These are the best tacos I have ever had in my life. I order the carnitas tacos every time and I go here at least once, often twice a week. I tell EVERYONE these are the best tacos I've ever had. YOU NEED THESE TACOS! Also, the pineapple and cantaloupe drinks are soooo good and refreshing! Also, super affordable!“
“Our son, his wife, and children moved to the area in December (from Philadelphia, Pa).We flew in for a visit & they INSISTED we have dinner at one of their favorite places, "Rey's".This place did not disappoint and EXCEEDED our expectations! From the staff who were happy to see us, to the DELICIOUS food, and WOW the dessert! You simply have to have the churro dessert! It was the best dessert I had in my entire life of 50yrs.I am from Philadelphia & have access to the best restaurants. This place beats all Mexican restaurants. 100%.We will be back!“
“I am beyond impressed with this restaurant! Their exceptional service & quality of food stays the same. I go here frequently and the servers AND owner are always on top of it.Even considering the economy right now, their prices hasn't changed drastically like other Mexican restaurants have. The quality of the food & quantity is amazing. The servers are always in a great mood, super fast service, never have they ever gotten our order wrong, even when they are plum packed! The owner/manager is always busting his butt making sure the customers are happy and waited on. I cannot say enough about this place. It's our secret gem!((I got the polla ala crema, which I've turned on a lot of people to this dish & it's a must try!))Vegetarian options: Plenty of quality veggies to choose from, rice, tortilla, beans, etc.Kid-friendliness: Super great and friendly with kids, have a good kids meal“
“We arrived 10 minutes before closing and hated to be "those guys". They made us the best food I've ever had from a Mexican restaurant and still treated us great even though we were late. 5/5 would recommend to anyone near by. The food was incredible!!“
“We went on a Tuesday night, and it was pretty busy with college kids drinking too much. I think that caused the service to suffer. However, our food was awesome. I had tacos Al Pastor and a tamale. One of the best tamales I've had.“
“This place is me & my husband favorite Mexican restaurant. We always get good service. Our favorite waiter is Alfredo he always has smile on his face. He always on top of filling our drinks and bringing fresh chips/salsa. Very friendly. Has our drinks and food down pat because we are there pretty regular. We really enjoy having Alfredo as waiter.“
“Good food, EXCELLENT service. Staff checked on us the right amount of times during the meal. Hefty portions and good sized 'adult beverages'.Parking: Parking is fineKid-friendliness: I don't see a problem about kids at all.“
“Boost for Casa Grande Mexican Restaurant Cookeville.I don’t think we have ever had a bad meal here before! Last night I tried the queso birria tacos. They are by far the best birria tacos that I have tried so far. The meat was extremely tender. It was seasoned and flavored perfectly. The consomé was thick and flavorful. My daughter-in-law got a chicken quesadilla and my daughter got a chicken house salad. Both of these had a large amount of shredded chicken added.Everything was delicious.“
“Absolutly Great Food, Service with a Wonderful Caim Atmosphere. My Daughter and Stopped There To Eat after Being At Santas Workshop !!!!! Will Definely Eat There More Often At An Affordable Price !!!!!Kid-friendliness: This is A Whole Family Experience Restaurant.“
“This is basically like a chipotle but for Americanized Mexican food. My husband was ordering 2 burritos and the girl suggested the mega burrito which is significantly cheaper than ordering 2 regular burritos. I guess it’s a secret menu item. The Cabo bowl was delicious and made me feel less guilty due to not having a tortilla or extra carbs. Good for quick Mexican.Dietary restrictions: Has options for keto.“
“The staff are super nice and the location relative to campus is perfect, but for the portion sizes you get, the price is just a bit too high. It's great if you don't want to travel far, but you are certainly paying for the convenience.“
“Took a little longer then usual tonight. Which ended well... My husband ordered the dipping taco and commented that it looked just like the advertisement before and after wrapping. Awesome job Matthew... in 17 years I've never heard him say his complete order was correct and looked perfect.. Thank You Matthew!!?“
“While traveling home from Spring Break, I was looking at stops along the way for a spot to stop for dinner. A search for restaurants ahead and El Tapatio popped up. After looking at reviews and the menu, I knew they would not disappoint. They did not. It's located in the food court of a truck stop and it was delicious. They cook your order on the grill in front of you. They have many options of what to add to your burrito, bowl, quesadilla, etc...plus if you like spicy, like my husband, they have the good sauce down below. Just ask. He said it was really good and flavorful. The portions are really good for the price. Everything we got was really good. I'd recommend. I'd happily visit again if I found myself in the area and would probably be a regular if I lived nearby.“
