“A beautiful day for a drive so I picked The Fried Tater Café for a visit. Housed in the old Versailles/Rockvale Store (built in 1884) and had been empty for the past 40 years, they did a great job renovating. Sat down and Megan brought me a menu while sharing some of the “must haves” here. I ordered the Philly Sirloin steak sandwich (this is not a Philly cheesesteak for all you purists out there) and the Tater Tornado as an appetizer. The Tater Tornado gives you the best of both worlds…potato chips and french fries and they are really good. I sprinkled a little salt on em, dipped in ranch dressing, they are addicting!!! This steak sandwich is solid! The steak had some nice grill char, great flavor, and is very tender. The veggies caramelized while the smoked gouda cheese is a really nice touch. Even the “side” of cole slaw was very good, fresh, and crunchy. While I was eating Megan brought some fried pies to a table and they smelled incredible. So I ordered a blueberry one to go and suffered in my SUV the whole way home smelling it. These pies alone are worth the drive out here…absolutely delicious! Without a doubt the best homemade blueberry fried pie I’ve ever enjoyed. Really great food, nice serene country setting, and friendly service. Well worth the drive out to Rockvale!!!”

“Love the pizza and the service is excellent. It's rustic and I enjoy watching them make the pizza while sipping on some mead. Everything I have tried is excellent! Just be careful if you order extra crispy it may come out with some charred spots on the crust.”

“Allow me to preface this by saying I've never heard of Dylicious Cakes, and I have never met Jennifer before this order. I say that as this review might come off as super biased and fan boy-ish, but this review is all very genuine. One of the best cakes I've ever eaten, no hyperbole. Ordered this cake for my wife's birthday and had no concerns of allergens or sensitivities, so asked Jennifer to work her magic without these considerations. Also, my wife loves key lime pie, so I asked for a cake to match that flavor, which I could not find anyone else to attempt. Jennifer was very responsive, very friendly through the entire experience, and up to the challenge. And as far as eating the cake goes, most cakes that are as beautiful on the outside as the one in the photo (apologies for not taking a picture of the cake before digging in lol), are usually lacking in the flavor and texture department. But not this one, we were blown away by how flavorful and moist this experience is. Jennifer nailed this key lime experience! I myself don't care for key lime pie, but I ate the hell out of this cake like it was my birthday. My wife has yet to stop talking about how good the cake is, so Dylicious Cakes is definitely my forever go to for future occasions. And for the product received, the pricing is very fair. Just order your cake from Jennifer, trust me on this one!”

“We have stopped in twice when we have had to be in Chapel Hill and both times, the food was amazing, the staff was incredibly sweet & kind, and the place is clean and welcoming. The food is fresh. I could eat here everyday if I lived close enough, but I plan to go back soon!”

“The staff is friendly and accommodating. I’m always treated well and respected. The prices on beer and tobacco are 15-20% cheaper than the big name brand stores. The only draw backs would be when it gets busy parking gets a little chaotic and the gas pumps could use upgrades as they don’t take credit cards.”

“This is our second visit to this place. The first visit was about 2 months ago and it was just ok. Service was slow and the food was a bit cold. Decided to give it another shot this past weekend and oh my, what a difference! Food quality has improved, it looks like there is new staff with smiles on their faces. Wait time was still long at the door, but we got our food much faster than the first time. The new mimosa flavors were delish!

I asked to speak with the manager and she was very insightful to what has transpired in the past few months. Cassie our server was very sweet and I wanted to make sure the manager knew it. It looks like this place is getting better over time and we will definitely be back.
They also have a private room that you can rent out. So I'll be doing that soon for a girls brunch!”
