Atmosphere was great, musician that was playing there did his thing, but service was terrible, guy didn’t know what he was doing and disappeared at times, waited 15 mins to bring wife’s drink out and the place was barely packed, proceeded to bring wrong food and attempted to up charge.Like the vibe but probably won’t stop by again.

I almost died because I was over served alcohol. Went to the ER with a BAC that was almost fatal. You are required by law to cut someone off when they’ve reached their maximum capacity. I understand that I was responsible for the first few drinks, but if you can see that I’m already drunk, do not continue to let me buy more drinks. I’m leaving this review here to hopefully save a life.

Loved this place, but most impressive was the great service that Carlethia gave us. She was so pleasant and very very attentive. She checked on us frequently and was just so friendly and welcoming. Our food was great - a couple of us had the wet ribs and they were really good. Best mac n cheese that we'd had while we traveled from MN, to MO, to TX, to LA then in Memphis. And the music - awesome! Can't remember the name of the band but the lead singer had a great voice and all the musicians provided a wonderful groove. Interesting decor with all the guitars and stuff on the walls. Mostly though, kudos to Carlethia for doing such a great job!

The interior of this place is a guitar museum and worth the visit for just that. The Gumbo still has my son talking about it and we have a goal to try to recreate it. The musical entertainment was top notch. We loved Chris and in the evening we heard Free State, who were impressive. Hearing Chris with the saxophonist from Free State was a real treat, especially the Ewi!
Great music, which we came for... but crazy doorman they had ruined whole night... would not go there again

I don’t get the Opportunity to come to Memphis often for work but when I do I try to go down Beale Street. I have in the past found some of the better bands that suit me at rum boogie Café or the amazing intimate setting to the left of it with new local artists.I had a really nice time with a new local group today and then I went to the rum boogie and there was a band playing afterwards that was really good with a great harmonica player and his brother playing some awesome guitar, I was excited to share there music with my friends via Facebook by recording it with my iphone and then someone else near me was also doing the same on the ramp leading to the restrooms. But we were then shamed by doing that by the band and were asked to put money in the tip jar. I waited for the next song to play and appreciated their talent and relented to their earlier request to tip by putting in a $20 in hopes to feel comfortable without ridicule to be able to record on further songs if I wanted to like any normal place or concert anyone goes to in order to spread how awesome this group/band was.The lead singer had a mid song exchange about some political stance regarding taxes or something and asked people to raise their hands if something affected them or whatever regarding this or that. I listened to another song after that one and asked to purchase one of their CDs and it was $15 but I still gave them a $20 and said to not worry about the change to the awesome guitarist brother. As I was walking away I heard the lead singer say that I was a “sparkle shoes communist”. His brother said that I was OK because the tip jar was closer to him (I’m assuming) and he saw that I was just there to enjoy the music. As soon as I heard that, I was out the door to find a more welcoming place to listen to music and left that CD somewhere that won’t be listened to.

Great experience here.Free entry, good beer.I haven't eaten here. There was a show going on.It was amazing. The singer had a beautiful voice and the band was in tune.I recommend it for people like me who are looking for a quiet place to eat and drink while sitting while listening to blues, rock, etc. music.Only negative thing was the volume, it was too excessively loud.Since they are right in front of you you have to move away a little.Otherwise you risk going out with ringing ears.Would I go back? Yes! Certainly.
