Amazing place. I’m not much for sushi, so I would love to see some other options on the menu. There were a couple, but it’s very limited. My girlfriend loved everything she ordered, and said it’s the best sushi place she has had in Austin.I would love to see a booth or two installed for those more romantic or intimate dinners (her 40th birthday), ambience and decor were all nice, although I would keep pride and trans flags out of the restaurant … business and politics don’t mix.Our service was a 10/10, wish I remembered her name so I could shout out.
I’m not in the area but whenever I visit Austin, I go to Fukumoto with no exception.I love everything there but the beets miso soup which was a seasonal in March was amazingly good! I love their Uni Pasta as well. It’s the best thing to wrap up dinner?Their desserts are unique and good too. I recommend keeping some space for the dessert too.

Decided to try this place because I wanted to find something with more traditional Japanese food. While I also enjoy the American version of sushi , I miss the flavors that I had while living in Japan many years ago. This place was a very solid find. The food is much more like real Japanese. the sashimi bluefin platter was great, all the various yakatori we tried were excellent. The only downside was the price but it's one of those places that you get what you pay for and the food quality was excellent. Would certainly go back here again.
I have come here for the past 2-3 years and have NEVER had a negative experience with the staff-food or experience. I travel about an hour -hour and a half to come here and we are always willing to wait if we don’t have a reservation. Still contemplating hiring for our wedding and or reception. Most likely will be it.I wish I could comment on the negative reviews.☺️

The one of best restaurant i have been ever. The chef, Kaz is so friendly and really nice to talk as well as other staff. All food is also wonderful, especially fish came directly from Japan and Texas wagyu are so delicious. They have many kinds of Sake and I could choose best suits i wanted have today from ones they let me try. I I enjoyed too. Obviously come back when I travel to Austin again.
I was extremely skeptical going to a sushi restaurant coming from the PNW, but alas, I was CRAVING white rice after feeling like a bottomless abyss from my wild birthday celebrations and way too much BBQ and y’all — this place EXCEEDED any exceptions I had and more. The service was absolutely off the charts phenomenal. The hostess that seated us was pleasant. Our server was incredible, helpful, asked about allergies, got me a separate gluten free menu that labeled vegan, vegetarian and dairy free options, she refilled our water without asking, and split our check without making a request (it was me and my best friend)! We sat at the bar where they made the food in front of us and they had the nicest cook/employees that were catering to us too (and also very attractive to look at lol). I was shocked, SHOCKED y’all at how fresh and tasty the cucumber roll I got was and how heavenly the rice tasted. Even my non-gluten free friend was amazed and loved her Ube desert! I will literally come back to Austin just to come back here. I am still drooling over and dreaming of the freshness of the ingredients and how scrumptious it was; and the service absolutely topped it off to make this an exceptional experience. My only regret is not taking photos to share, but this review will have to do to make sure others try out this gem! Thank you!Dietary restrictions: Gluten free, dairy free, vegan, vegetarian options all marked!

Perfect for my wife's 50th birthday! Outstanding sushi, best miso soup and great yakatori. Dessert was great too. They did a wonderful job for a special occasion!!
We really enjoyed the octopus karaage and the roll we got was nothing like I’ve tasted before. The flavours felt complex and not usually something you taste in a sushi roll so I enjoyed it.The rest of the items we got were skewers and we had one bite each from every skewer and left the rest. My boyfriend said he felt like he could taste gasoline on the food from the charring and I just thought it wasn’t good. The menu is so large so I’m sure there are really good items that we missed out on (but you’re only as good as your worst item). The best part was the dango dessert. The service was okay. Not very helpful or attentive. We won’t be coming back
