“Between Houston and Waco we were starving! With an hour left in our drive we couldn't wait and randomly Yelped nearby food. Pappy's popped up and we stopped!We all got croissant breakfast sandwiches. I'm so ashamed to say I was SHOCKED at how good it was.Calvert seems like a sleepy little town along Hwy. 6. I assumed the bread may be a little dry and the food sub par! I'm sorry Pappy's, I misjudged you. It was EGGSELENT!!!The croissant was fresh as could be and the ingredients were awesome. We had two bacon, egg and cheese, one ham, egg and cheese, and one steak, egg and cheese. All of us were so happy with our choices!We left Pappy's and Calvert well fed and pleased to discover this Texas gem!!Take away: Try Pappy's on your next road trip. BTW check out the Wildflowers on the way up and back!”

“This repurposed building is a hidden gem in Texas. Country feel using the reclaimed wood from the building to create the coffee bar and many other pieces in the store. This location also has a venue that can be rented for different events. It is very charming. Coffee and cookies were great. Nick and Mikala were great people to meet. Hope my travels take me through there again soon.”

“We have been taking about visiting Calvert for a few years and finally did it. We were very happy to find this place. We spent about five hours here, enjoying drinks, good convos with the staff, free darts, pool, and shuffleboard, and good food. The burger was very good!!We will let definitely visit again!”

“I wish I could remember names cause these young ladies were awesome. I had a terrible past two weeks and finished them of by meeting my brother in law to drop off my great nephew. Just to clear things up his visiting was not the terrible part. I lost my pops to death on Dec. 20 and my niece try to end her life. So I decided to stop and treat myself. They were so incredibly nice and they both greeted me with smiles on there faces. Highly recommend stopping for that pick me up we all need. I just wish I could remember their names. Thank yall”

“They offer burger, sandwiches, chicken, amd steak options. Appetizers like fried cheese, wings, etc. The wings and burgers are my favorite. Great local place with a good amount of tvs if you wanna watch a game. Cold beer on tap and a separate bar area, including pool tables in the basement area.”

“Legit soul/comfort food oasis. I grew up with cafeteria style soul food in the city. Was driving through the area, did a search, saw the name, and knew I couldn't pass...Oxtails were tender, tasty and served in plenty... pass on the fork and knife, too slow. Sides were solid, only thing missing was collard greens. It'll be a planned stop when I ride through. Owners were warm and welcoming. the whole staff was kind. Hugs on entry wouldn't have shocked me, like family.”

“My Dad grew up in Hearne and we went up to visit the cemetery and to drive around. He told me the places he wanted to visit and Dad wanted to stop here. Nice quaint place and Molly is the sweetest waitress. The food was great. They offer daily specials but I was day off because I wanted the Wednesday special and it was Thursday. I still got the cheese enchiladas with onions and I really enjoyed them. Dad got to meet the daughter of one of his buddies and meeting her made his day. Thank you for that! Dad is turning 92 this month and it was a great day trip for the both of us.”

“I came from Rosebud to try something new and I got the wings and fish topped off with a kool-aid...I don't know what in the VooDoo they did to that kool-aid but mayne it's ????This has to be the best seasoned food in 80 miles in any direction, hands down??I appreciate this Wings & Thangs”

“I really liked the food. The chicken fried steak was good, and the sides were good, nothing overcooked or undercooked. The service could have been better. The young lady wasn't very attentive and looked to be more important in conversation with the other girl and her phone. The other guy working there or manager had to get my empty cup to give to her to fill because she never would. I would go back for the food, though.”

“Random little hole in the wall restaurant, stopped on my way out of town. Lots of locals there who the waitress knew by name, always a good sign. Had a breakfast plate, food was delicious! Kinda a cross between texmex and country cooking. Definitely would go back, thanks for a great meal!”

“I was searching for food at the Antique Fair and saw a line in front of Smoke Daddies BBQ food truck. The menu looks tempting so I decided to give it a try!I ordered grilled cheese sandwich with briskets and it was soooo good!! It was so yummy that I totally forgot to take pics until I finished half of the sandwich. Definitely one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had from food trucks. The stand was really cute too, with a pig face logo :PWill go again in a few days when I return for the show.”

“I wanted to share that we made a pit stop here (1/13/24) while traveling and the team leader (Jane?) was amazing. She was so sweet and checked up on us and our kids when we dined in. The team leader and cashier were nice and they delivered the food when it was ready. Wish we had more people like them in the city or suburbs. We would gladly become regular customers if they were near us.”

“Surprisingly good meal, with fried items being a bit overcooked for our preference. The service was quick and besides it being the middle of a Sunday afternoon, the atmosphere was pretty good. It definitely reminded me of Mel's and other like diners of the 50-60 eras.”

“This is my usual pit stop on my travels thru the area. Always a drink. Sometimes some food. Also use the restroom. The food wasn't up to standard this last trio. I got a fish sandwich. Asked for extra tartar sauce. Fish was OVER cooked and barely had ANY tartar sauce. I was in a hurry or I would have sent it back.”

“Just use the drive-through to get a buy one get one free quarter pounder with cheese, no onions, extra pickles. The order was perfect. The service was friendly and fast. It was late at night and I had an overall excellent experience at this McDonald’s in Hearn Texas.”
