“FOOD INSTAGRAM: @northtx.gemz **** WHAT THEY'RE KNOWN FOR: 5 locations across Texas! According to their website, it seems to be a family business that has grown from Mexico. They sell elotes and tons of Mexican street snacks using only fresh ingredients (no canned corn here). THE VIBE: very colorful, sweet employees. PRICE: ~$20 WOULD I COME BACK? Yes! **** Overall Rating: 9.5/10 - If you know me, I am obsessed with anything with chamoy and tajin so this place was up my alley! I find that other palaterias can be really dirty (dirty places have the best food too tho lol) but this one was not too dirty but had an organized menu which I liked. - I loved how they had a separate salsa station and toppings too for you to customize and add more to your snacks. - The manzana loca is something I highly recommend. The chamoy on the apples were so perfect and it's was so good my mouth is literally watering typing this. I will say I wish they cut out the core/seeds of the apple. - The small fruit box was the perfect portion. Can someone tell me what fruit that is purple in the middle? It tasted so familiar but I couldn't put my finger on it. - I will say the Elote was okay, maybe because I didn't put the right salsa, but it was missing fresh lime juice. They don't have any limes here which I found really strange. - Overall, go visit a place near you! They have a great menu to choose from.“
“Fantastic place to go to. Especially if you are a tourist (like me) and want to experience this Americana bar. Great spot and very eclectic. The food at the 90's BBQ food truck though was out of this world! I am a foody and a bbq snob and the brisket here was next level. Generous portions, absolutely tender and moist and just.... Perfect. It had that jiggle that all postmasters crave. To say I was surprised to get this quality at this bar is an understatement. I hoped it was gonna be good but damn....this was amazing.Cannot wait to go back!“
“She cut the corn fresh off the cob for the elotes! Super tasty and lots of sauces to explore. The woman that works at this stand is so friendly. Every customer seems to want to talk to her even after getting their order. Highly recommend trying her elote and chatting.“
“"Pearlie’s Southern Kitchen is a culinary masterpiece, bridging generations with recipes deeply rooted in Southern traditions. I was introduced to their amazing dishes at the State Fair of Texas, and it was a flavor journey back to authentic Southern cooking. Kerston Crawford-Thorns' passion and dedication to continuing the lessons from her beloved grandmother, Pearlie Mae, shine through every dish. The mouthwatering Deep-Fried Collard Greens and the show-stopping six-cheese macaroni are testament to this. With an exciting future ahead, including a Mobile Food Trailer, I'm eager to follow their journey on social media. Kudos to a brand that keeps family and heritage at its core!"“
“Matt's is supreme. I'm sorry, there are other restaurants out there and some of them are good. Or maybe great. But Matt's is simply UNPARALLELLED. The menu chosen for a private buffet was an appetizer buffet with salsa (how do they MAKE it so fantastic?!), guacamole, queso, chips, pico de gallo, deep-fried jalapeno poppers, and so much more...was only topped by the main menu of beef and chicken and cheese enchiladas, beans, rice, and fascinating margaritas, sweet tea, or whatever you fancy. A buffet sounds like you might to left to your own devices--but the staff was right there, on point, taking our drink orders, replenishing dishes, and making sure we were content and FED. Although it was a Celebration of LIfe and no one wants to repeat that, I'm going to SEARCH for happy reasons to return to Matt's Lakewood every chance I get. Don't waste time checking out other places, Matt's Ranchero Martinez is WHERE IT'S AT!!“
“l love these guys as I live very close, they have great huevos rancheros and breakfast tacos in the morning and for lunch they have fantastic, very authentic fajita, pastor and barbacoa tacos and made to order cheeseburgers. I get Mi Casita for lunch 2-3 times a week and breakfast 2-3 times a month if I'm up that early. Great food, I love the green salsa and extra limes for my tacos.“
“This is THE best elotes stand I've found in the metro. The lady speaks no English at all, but she is very nice and always in a good mood! The corn she uses is always fresh cut off the cob right when you order and it is always the sweetest corn, not bland. Plenty of fixins to top it off with and give it spicy kick! I recommend“
