A really nice visit, and great food. We come over fifty miles from home to have lunch here about four times per year. I hope they will improve the signage out front because from across the street it looks dark and quiet as if no longer in business...need work on curb appeal!
This is a great hole in the wall joint. The service was excellent. The chicken fried steak is one of the top 5 I've had. The fried mushrooms were fantastic. I did not really care for the mashed potatoes as they tasted like baked potatoes. Yes, you can taste the difference. Perhaps add more cream. If that is my only complaint, then they are doing something right. As a person who does not drink booze, I appreciate the separation between bar and restaurant. Hubby and I were so glad to have dined here. He ordered a steak and Inordered the fried gizzards and the boudin. The Gizzards were yummy. The batter was flavorful (not just salty) and the gizzards tasted fresh (not old, like it had been in the fridge for long), thus, it’s not rubbery and didn’t hurt my jaw (and teeth). Perfectly done.
