The food here can make me cry. We ordered four dishes. Every dish is impeccable. Why are northeastern people so good at cooking pork! The sour cabbage has such mild but strong flavor. The kidney and liver were cooked barely well done, very tender. Sweet potatoes can have the sugar pulling one-meter long. I cant wait to come back again.
The ingredients for stir-fried kidney liver are super fresh and the heat is very good. The seasoning of the butchered vegetables is great, the sauerkraut does not overpower the flavor, and the salty and sour flavors are well blended. The old-fashioned Guobao Pork has a pungent smell of white vinegar and is delicious, but the meat is thin, the batter is a bit thick, and there is no jujube-red color that penetrates the meat. The shredded sweet potatoes are delicious and sweet, and the red dates inside are also delicious.

I don’t know what we had since my friend ordered everything but the food was excellent with excellent service at a very reasonable price.

The dishes we got were surprisingly good (especially with the expectation set years ago). I think their owner really cared about customer feedback on their food, and made the effort to improve it. The price is very reasonable as well. Highly recommend it.
(My partner and I are now visiting 小沈阳 weekly, or even more than once a week sometimes - speaks for how much we like this place.)

The smoked chicken I ordered went sour when I ate it at home. It felt like it was not made that day.

While the restaurant's ambiance was mediocre at best, the overall dining experience was far from satisfactory. The service was exceedingly sluggish, with excessively long waits between courses, making the entire meal feel interminable. The inconsistency in the flavors of the dishes was even more disappointing , suggesting a lack of skill or direction in the kitchen, as if different chefs were preparing the meals without any coordination. Additionally, the staff's unprofessional behavior, characterized by casual chatting rather than focusing on service, further compounded the negative experience. To top it off, the noisy environment, with other diners creating a ruckus, only added to the discomfort. These serious shortcomings not only marred the dining experience but also rendered the restaurant difficult to recommend.
Although the restaurant's dishes have potential, the waiting time takes a lot away from the dining experience. The time between each dish is too long, which makes the whole dining process seem protracted and weakens the original delicious enjoyment.
The pace of serving food is not consistent enough, which makes people lose the sense of anticipation for the food. Especially when you are hungry, this kind of waiting is difficult to ignore.
There seemed to be a lack of consistency among the service team, and although the restaurant environment was pleasant, the attitude of the service staff at times seemed cold and lacked hospitality, reducing the chance of customers feeling welcome. There is a lack of professionalism, there seems to be a lack of coordination and communication between the staff, and they occasionally appear not to be attentive enough, which affects the overall dining experience.
Each dish seemed to taste different, giving the impression of a lack of consistency. It's like the dishes you taste come from different chefs every time, and there is a lack of coherent flavor characteristics, making the restaurant's overall cuisine style vague. Such changes make it difficult for diners to capture the restaurant's true core culinary philosophy.

Travelling in the city and wanted to try Chinese food in Houston. Drove to Chinatown and walked into this restaurant. Taste of food was authentic and great, big portion. I’m travelling from nyc and have been eating a lot of Chinese food, still have to leave 5 stars for the good quality.
