We were lucky enough to get the last service by Chef Jonathan. We had his Kobe fair well tour! And he made our experience amazing! We had recently had their parent restaurant Hidden Omakase and we enjoyed it but was recommended to try this joint for a lower price point and shorter meal.So for dinner they do 45 mins and they start on time so make sure you come a little early and take some pictures in the nft gallery out front. If you park it’s to the left of the Italian restaurant and has no signage.Once seated they get started right on the dot. But even though it’s a short service Jonathan explained what we were getting in great detail. We got better interaction here with the crew than at Hidden Omakase. It’s a younger group and more fun and lively. The Engawa was the best thing I have ever eaten at any sushi restaurant. This thing is life changing. And you’re able to get an extra piece as an a la carte add on. Do it!!! You will not regret it.My wife and I were so impressed, we will definitely be back and at this price point we can come more often.Best of luck on your next Journey chef Jonathan your skills will truly be missed here.

Snuck into this speakeasy sushi counter place on a Wednesday night so it wasn’t too full. We had a great, almost one on one time with the sushi chefs who were really nice! The sushi was delicious! I especially loved the topping pairing with the fish here, it was very unique and quite bold in my opinion. As far as omakase goes it’s almost like an express as most people say but if you have time you can stay and get more sushi a la carte style at the end, which we did. We always try out the wagyu pieces whenever we hi and this one was quite good! They have the nigiri names on the wall on the right in order of the course so that was very helpful in remembering which pieces I especially loved. The fatty tuna and mackerel were our favorites.Overall 4.5/5 in my opinion. Would love to return here on another night when it’s more full to see what that experience is like!

Such a great experience with the secret doors. Love the fresh sushi and fast 30 minute serving window. Straight to the money!

I love the speak easy concept, the whole experience was really cool, the staff was nice, and the food was delicious. However, I left still really hungry and had to go to the restaurant next door. It’s not enough food at all, and I’m a very petite woman.

We came for Valentine’s Day and it was a fun experience. The food was so so sooooo incredibly good. It practically melted in your mouth. The portions are small and you most likely will be hungry still. But it’s worth the experience honestly.

Each piece was more delectable than the last. Can't beat it for a good fix without the full experience of Hidden.

I think this concept is genius and the pricing is worth it if you can secure a reservation. I came here with my parents and we all enjoyed the meal. I had no idea where the entrance was and apparently missed the reminder text message saying to meet at the art gallery but I thought the hidden entrance made this much cooler. The nigiri is a bit on the smaller side but 12 pieces for $60 for sushi of this quality is definitely a great deal.I liked that the menu of the 12 pieces was on the wall blackboard, and would have liked to know also the translation of some of the Japanese words on the board. The sushi chefs did announce the pieces when delivering them but it was going really fast and I missed it. I'd love to come back with my beau to try this again. I came here on a Sunday at 12:15pm for the 12:30 seating and found street parking along Kelvin Dr next street over. Street parking might not be that easy to find so I'd recommend coming a bit earlier.

Ok, it's been at least a couple years since I've first been going to Sushi by Hidden and my opinion has only improved. By popular demand, Chef Jimmie and company have increased their dining time for dinners from 30 minutes to 45 minutes (at a cost to make it $15 more expensive for the session, now totalling $75 before tip and tax; lunches are still $60 and 30 mins long). If that doesn't scream service, I don't know what will. Really quickly, PARKING: The most convenient option is the garage attached to the complex to the left of the restaurant; there is limited parking, but I'd be surprised if you couldnt find a spot. Pay by text or the parking app. There's also free, 2-hour parking around rice village; try the nearby streets or parking lots that are available to all customers. Otherwise if you don't mind the short 5 minute walk, go to the parking garage that is just behind "Bluestone Lane Cafe," parking is free for 2 hours (and just a dollar or two for another hour or so). Time for a recap. Easily still one of, if not my favorite, places to grab omakase. I have yet to find a place that beats it in terms of value. To me, the choice to increase dining time another 15 minutes (even if the cost goes up a little bit) is a generally favorable, however, as a veteran, Ive gotten quite used to the 30 minute time slot. If im getting the same amount of food, my mentality now is "why not pay less?" However, to be late can be a death sentence to the experience--and I stress to all fellow patrons (old and new) to NOT be late. To arrive early is to be on time and to arrive on time is to be late. The show does not stop for anyone, so dont be surprised if you're met with 5 pieces already getting suboptimally cold on your plate upon your late arrival. The extra 15 minutes can only help so much. Would this be an ideal place for a first date? Probably not. Having a romatic, artistic atmosphere paired with uplifting music (edm-ish), It does have the right amount of pazzas and quirkiness, but quite frankly, even with the bonus 15 minutes, the extent of your conversation may only get you as far as finding out what their favorite color is (and unless you're bringing a large party, don't bother having them uncork a bottle ($), you won't be able to finish it). Perhaps you might be thinking, "well, I'll just bring a sushi enthusiast then," but you would be a fool to do so, because, let's be honest, any of these charming fellas working here will only steal their heart. I kid, but really, I always have a good time conversing with the guys. They're just a ball of good vibes that you get to enjoy the occasional complimentary sake with. Ask them a question, they'll be sure to answer in fashionable form (sometimes going as far as pulling a whole fish from the dry ager and showing where the cuts are made). I for one always leave learning something new. If I had one thing to complain about, it's that I never got that monkfish I was teased with. The variety of dishes do not seem to seasonally rotate; and in their defense, they never advertised seasonal changes--also in their defense, the nigiri they've crafted is just really, REALLY good--so I'm not too upset with the "If it ain't broke" approach to things, but personally it does keep me from coming back as frequently as I'd like to visit, and I just have this gut feeling the team here would do experimental dishes justice. Out of 20 items on the menu, maybe--just maybe 1 of them will be different in a 6 month span. With the recent changes to time, it raises my score from 5/5 stars to... well, that's the max. But again, if you haven't checked this place out, you should. Find the RESY link on their website and book a spot. My favorite bite was the Engawa--my wife shares these feelings. Fellow yelpers, what was yours? (Shoot me a pm!) I won't add to the saturated pool of pictures of food porn they already have, so just take my word for it ;). Cheers!

Great little spot for sushi. The food was amazing and very friendly service. Limited seating and they have bookings every hour so they do tend to rush you a bit.

Really cool experience! It's a cute speakeasy restaurant with bar type seating. We were in and out in 45 mins. Fixed price for about 14 courses, plus you can order some a La carte. All of them were delicious. BYOB. Worth checking out!

They stay true to their word of this being a 30 minute omakase. You're in and out before you know it so this is perfect for a quick lunch or dinner. While you wait for your reservation, you can admire the various artwork they have hanging before entering the restaurant through the Mona Lisa. I absolutely love the concept of an omakase speakeasy, quite the experience. They only take reservations so be sure to make one! The omakase is $60 for lunch and included 12 pieces. Each piece was skillfully executed in a short amount of time. As soon as you finished the current piece, it was immediately followed up with another. It was a good combination of nigiri pieces, but there was nothing particularly special about the sushi here. Also, don't expect to leave full. Overall, if you're looking for an affordable omakase then Sushi by Hidden is it.

This place. Omg I loved it! I was blown away by well, everything. First of all, how fun is it to find that secret door entrance? I know it isn't exactly a secret now, but a little spy work is always fun! The space is extremely efficient and the entire operation runs so smoothly. I felt this was a delicious and affordable omakase experience. Loved the banter between the chefs and the running commentary. I learned so much, and I can't wait to return once they swap their menu out!

Fabulous omakase experience. Fish was super fresh and creatively flavored. They made some accommodations to my husband’s shellfish allergy. Chefs were friendly and fun. Only downside was the hostess who seemed unhappy with life and shoved the check in between us while we were in the middle of eating our last course. I found her pushy and off putting as she lurked behind us waiting for us to pay the check. There weren’t even people waiting after us. Still, we will be back! Loved the food.
