“In town for work and sisters was suggested for lunch...Walking up and smelling the smoker, I knew I was in for a treat.. small place with lots of sports memorabilia..GO TEXANS.BEAUTIFUL lady taking orders..had the 2 meat plate brisket and sausageAnd I must say it was one of the best I've had on the road..very flavorable and perfect smoke taste...Was going to go back for ribs for my supper, but they close at 2 pm..Do yourself a favor and get some of SISTER WHITES..Did I mention the beautiful lady taking orders?? “We were lucky enough to find Arlene's Soul Food & BBQ on our latest trip to Freeport, and we are SO happy we did! It's a small business located within a gas station and only has one table to sit at, so you'll probably want to do take out, but the food is amazing! Arlene, the friendly owner, gave us tastes of both the smoked brisket and oxtail she had available; both were delicious, as were the homemade sides and cornbread. The oxtail is available only on Fridays, and it's well worth going then to get some. Definitely make this a stop the next time you're in the area!“

“Called in our order. Got the brisket grilled cheese and an order of Texas Twinkies. The grilled cheese were excellent!! Very rich, one of my all time faves. The first two Texas Twinkies were very good (They come in an order of three) the third one….im sad to say was rancid tasting. I hate posting this but, it is what it is. It won’t stop me from ordering , but dang I hated that.“
“The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is they were out of pulled pork. But for sure a great Barbecue place to stop at. The employees especially the manager on duty not only personable but professional. The brisket, chopped beef, and sausage were all on point though the brisket was a little dryer than I like but still fall apart good. The Pinto beans were great and the coleslaw was decent. I accidently left my wallet on the counter for the first time every and had hundreds of dollars in it. The cashier walked it to my table and gave it to me. I was and am elated that goof people with ethics and morals still are around and raised right. Brian's Barbecue has a very rich history as the pictures show. It's one of those hold in the walls places you MUST visit if just too look at the walls and the Texas history on them. I'll definitely be going back.Parking: Plenty of parking availability“
“This place is a classic BBQ joint. Legend is that some of the owners of other BBQ restaurants in the area were trained at DJ's. Given how long DJ's has been here, that seems likely. The serving area appeared quite clean and the staff were very helpful. The brisket stuffed baked potato was delicious and big enough to share.“
