“In town to do some errands, wanted something besides bbq. Notice the high rating and the reviews, the reviews don't lie. First time, the menu offers so many choices. The server was fantastic, explained the menu perfectly, I was torn between getting something savory or sweet. While you wait, you could get free samples of pickled vegetables. After much going back and forth, I got the Market Street Hash with a side order of sausage. It was soooo good, the hash was filled with fresh veggies, I got the sunny side egg which gives it a yummy creaminess from the egg yolk. The sausage was tasty, homemade as was the Texas toast. It was a big serving. My partner got the avocado toast, it was made with the homemade bread, she made the mistake of eating this morning. We got dessert to go which was delicious, cream cheese chocolate mousse cupcake and the key lime pie bar. We told all bakery goods were made by the owner's wife. The cafe was clean and organized. We will definitely going back, still have many options to choose from.“

“I went to Commerce Cafe for a late afternoon cup of their wonderful coffee. I also ordered the popovers (when was the last time, if ever, that you've seen popovers on a restaurant menu?) They are wonderful, served with savory butter and shredded gruyere. And during happy hour they're available at a reduced price! The people here are nice and the dining room is very pleasant.“

Eddies Drive In Cafe •
604 E Market St, Lockhart

“This place should get much more recognition than it has. Eddie's has been around since the late 1950's in some form. The guy who owns it now says his family has run it since 1969 or so. The owner grew up in the store. He went off to the army, served two tours in Iraq, then came home to Lockhart to take over the business. Most places like Eddie's have disappeared. Please stop by, thank the owner for his service to our country, then buy something! Support this or it will disappear, too. What should you buy? Well, the owner says that he is the only source of Schlitz beer in east Texas. He says he has people come from as far away as Houston to buy this beer. They buy it 10 cases at a time, I was told. So buy some of that and impress your friends! Look at the pictures to see what Eddie's is like.“

“This place is a hidden gem! The menu is extensive for such a small Cafe, but the food speaks volumes. Family owned, this place is run correctly and tended to with love. You MUST try the Menudo. It's spicy and delicious and not greasy at all. The homemade corn tortillas were just the right side for it. It was a great portion packed with meat and hominy. You have to try this place.“
