Taco Thursdays is awesome. The best homemade Taco ? shells ever with your choice of beef or chicken with fresh lettuce and tomatoes and cheese ? for .99 cents and 6 different salsas to choose from every Thursday all day. Amazing and authentic. Thank you Trish for everything.Kid-friendliness: Family oriented

Got the breakfast burrito and the first time it was made wrong. The potatoes tasted like they where from the day before and the eggs were hard and gross. Terrible terrible terrible.

Heard great things about Mamarita’s queso and decided to give them a try. The queso IS REALLY GOOD. Unfortunately that’s all that was good about this place. We had two enchilada plates and a taco salad. All the rest of the food was subpar. They got the wrong enchilada sauce on one of the plates, the rice wasn’t cooked all the way, and the desert was not edible. We ordered to-go and when we got home, our queso wasn’t in the bag. Went back and reported the missing queso. The waitress who took our order was very apologetic and that offered to give us a second queso for free. A second waitress chimed in and said, “I don’t wanna do that.”We got the queso we paid for but all the rest of the food was cold by the time we got home. Atmosphere is fine albeit a little greasy and smokey. Overall the only reason to stop in is for a to-go queso and chips. Just make sure your food is in the bag before you leave.

I recently went over to the Mamarita's Border Cafe in Lubbock. When I visited the very nice dinning hall I was very impressed with the small details this well maintained establishment was operating. I visited the bar where two of the nicest, most friendliest, and quickest bartenders Kyleigh and Tanner was running the bar. I’ve been around lots of restaurants and among other things and honestly Kyleigh and Tanner would make my list of the top 5 team driven bartenders of all time, if you believe in a hard working and awesome service I’d recommend Kyleigh and Tanner as your bartenders over here at Mamarita's Border Cafe in Lubbock, Texas.

Pretty disappointed with my experience and meal. The food, although a good price and visually appealing, was really bland and some ingredients were on their way out or stale. The basket of chips we had were two types mixed together, half stale old chips and half thin chips. The queso was disappointing and gloopy. My street taco was good, but my chicken taco was flavorless and bland. Other reviews have mentioned as well but they do allow smoking on one side of the restaurant, we were able to get seats as far away from that area as possible but still left feeling smoky smelling and with irritated lungs. Won't be returning.

Been enjoying brisket nachos for years. Last night my to go order had oil flowing across the bottom, the wife's order had an odd taste that she could not eat.

Good variety of food and sauces. The price is reasonable. They made room for a large group of us. The setup is good. Stand in line to order and go sit at table. They call your name and you pick up food. No waiting for a wait person or paying a tip. We did tip the cleanup person.Kid-friendliness: This question is not a restaurant issue. Most places are happy with all customers, they are in business to feed everyone. It's the parents who don't make their kids behave that ruins having a nice meal out at a restaurant.

Pretty bad, do not recommend with all the good Mexican food options around Lubbock. The food was disappointing. Chips were stale, taco shells were stale, the tacos were worse than you'd find at Taco Bell. Just all around pretty poor.Service was fine, other than there was only 1 person taking orders with a pretty significant line.Atmosphere, oh boy. The place is so dingy and dark inside, it felt like a good place to be stabbed. The worst part is they allow smoking. It's 2023, and a restaurant, not a bar. There is a door between the smoking and non-smoking areas, but smoke does not respect doors so the whole restaurant smells and looks like a really sketchy, run down bar. There are far better options around, and if you really want the true experience of Mamarita's, just get some Taco Bell tacos and add cigarettes. You're pretty close.
